Chapter Three

"Whatever Tom...Whatever!" Tucker shouted. Five hours had gone past really quickly while we were all eating food, talking and just generally messing around. I turned away from the window and looked across the room to where Tom and Tucker were shouting at each other. I didn't mind to be honest because it's just who they are. Sonja and Champ had both pulled chairs over to Bubble's fish tank and were sat there just watching him swim around. Jordan and Dec were sat on one of the sofas just chatting. I turned back and stared out the window. The view from Tom and I's house is amazing. You can see down the hill, the entire valley and the beach where I was found. My favourite part of the view however is 'the tree', the same tree that I saw that first day I woke up. The same tree where I first saw... him. I'm not exactly sure who he is, but I have seen him a few times since that day. He normally turns up when I get in trouble, like last year back in the mines.

Tom would never let me go mining, if I wanted any ores or diamonds or anything he would go and mine them for me. He would always tell me about how dangerous it was down there and how he didn't want me to get hurt. I finally managed to convince him to let me go mining with him and the first time I went down underground I got separated from Tom. To make things worse, my only pickaxe broke and I was down to one torch. I was able to block myself into a hole, but didn't completely secure the area before a creeper and a zombie jumped on me from above, knocking me over. As I hit the ground, I heard my headset crack and then static poured into my ear through the speaker. The creeper started hissing and I instinctively raised my arms to shield my face. The zombie bent down and lunged to bite me and I thought that was that, I thought I was going to die. I closed my eyes, waiting for the end to come. But it never did. I heard the zombie groan and fall over and when I opened my eyes I saw 'him' standing there. He was wearing what looked like grey and red robes with a hood pulled up hiding his face. He had pushed the zombie away from me and into the creeper, who had both now fallen over. He turned and grabbed me, picking me up and lifting me into his arms. I glanced up at him and then over at the zombie that had just stood up, and was making it's way over to us again. I felt a strange, fuzzy sensation in my mind and looked back up at the hooded stranger whose hood cast shadows over his face, making it impossible to make out any features. The strange sensation in my head got stronger and I felt myself losing consciousness. It felt like I was losing all my energy, I felt my body getting weaker. I heard wind whistling around us. Wind? Underground? Before I could ponder on this, I blacked out.

When I awoke, I was back at home laid in my bed. Multiple chairs had been moved from downstairs and were now surrounding my bed. Sonja was crying into Tucker's chest on one side of me, while Jordan was trying to comfort Tom on the other. Champ was the first one to realize I was awake. He came in with Dec to clean out my wounds as I had deep cuts along my arms and scratches on my legs from where the Zombie first jumped on me, knocking me over. Everyone then went into overdrive mode when they saw I was awake, crying, hugging me, crying some more. Tom kept saying about how it was his fault and he was so sorry, he kept kissing my forehead, mumbling "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, it's all my fault..." After everything calmed down a bit, I was able to piece together what had happened. After Tom and I had gotten separated, he tried to reach me through my headset but my headset wasn't online. He called Tucker, Sonja and Jordan, who all rushed down the mines to help Tom look for me. Dec and Champ were on the lookout for me above ground, just in case I had somehow found my way out of the mines. Dec had found me, unconscious outside his house and while him and Champ started tending to my cuts, the others were trying to get out from underground. When I was stable enough, the all took me back to Tom and I's house and I was in a coma for two days. They said when I was out I would mumble things about zombies, creepers, and a 'guardian angel'. I told them what had happened to me, about the attack, how when the zombie knocked me over my headset broke, hence why Tom couldn't contact me, and about my saviour. I was made to stay in bed for a month after that, but I didn't mind. I always had someone keeping me company and it meant I had lots of time to think about my 'guardian angel'. Tom was extra protective after that and to this day I am still only allowed to go mining if I stay with someone at all times. Whenever Tom would leave my room, the others would always tell me about how he would refuse to leave me and would sit next to my bed all day and night, refusing to eat, drink, sleep for the entire two days that I was out. He's the best 'fake' brother I could ever ask for.
