First November 1981

The only place Remus could think of to keep Hermione safe in the wizarding world was at ted and Andromeda's place. They hadn't told Andromeda about their relationship or about Hermione but he couldn't think of anywhere else to go. As he Apparated outside her house, he found that it was abandoned. She too had probably gone into hiding.

Remus had been running from the death eaters for the whole day. He was exhausted and hungry and so was Hermione. He had finally used Muffiliato on his own daughter to keep her quite which he had sworn he would never do.

"Humano Revealus" he said, quietly entering the abandoned house. He relaxed a little after discovering that the place was in fact abandoned. The full moon would rise in a few hours and he had no safe place for Hermione. All his options were exhausted and he supposed he could go to Dumbledore about it but then, there was no guarantee that the fact the Hermione was the last heir of two of the most powerful pure bred families would be kept a secret. And he couldn't take care of her himself because he was a monster. Without his pack to contain him, god knows what he would be capable of once the full moon rises, he would probably kill his own daughter and he could never risk that.

He heard a loud crash and the door burst open two death eaters stood in the threshold, wands out.

"Confringo" he shouted before they registered his presence. He ran out of the house trough the back door and found an abandoned broomstick. He swung his leg over it and kicked off the ground, noticing that the death eaters were not far behind. He remembered how the marauders had joked about Remus not being able to fly a broomstick to save his life. Well, he supposed it was time to put their theory to test.

---------

Remus stood inside a Muggle church. The place was serene and calming and he wished that he had gone to the church more with his mother when she was alive. He looked at Hermione one last time, wrapped in a blanket and placed in a basket with a little note adorned with his loopy handwriting peeling out.

Please take care of my daughter Hermione, for I cannot anymore.

He supposed that the people in the church could take care of her for a few days. Then he would come back for her when he was fine. Maybe, he would wait until he had Sirius back 'and harry' his mind supplied.

Yes, that would be best. He would free Sirius first, then get harry back. Until then, his daughter would be safe here. He knew that he did not have much time. The death eaters would be here if he didn't leave soon. He needed to quickly erase all his memories of Hermione in case they captured him, which they easily could in his weakened state after the moon.

He performed a rare memory blocking spell that could only be lifted with a password and a unique magical signature of one person. He ingrained Sirius's magical signature in his mind to make sure that only he could lift the spell. The marauders had performed this spell before and Sirius knew it well.

Almost as an afterthought, he placed Hermione's mind signature along with Sirius's magical signature in the spell as she did not have a magical signature yet. As for the password, "I solemnly swear I'm up to no good" he whispered. The only people other than Sirius who knew that were all dead. Now, he just needed to activate the spell and the next time he said the password, he would forget all about his daughter. The prospect of that was scarier than Remus would ever like to admit.

With one last look into her gorgeous eyes, Remus Dissaperated into the night.

Leaving both of the marauders children with just a blanket and a note on the same night.

---------

Remus was back to where he started, his apartment. He calculated that he had about half an hour before the death eaters found him. But they wouldn't dare come inside a werewolf's home on a full moon night. Instead, they would just come back tomorrow morning, when he was in his weakened state. He looked around the room, seeing all the photos of Hermione. He quickly set to work, erasing the photos and eventually, any trace that there was a baby in the house.

When he heard the death eaters outside, he locked himself into the cellar and put up the wards to keep the beast in.

With a last bit of strength left before his transformation, he pointed his want to his head and muttered "Aparecium Obliviate I solemnly swear I'm up to no good" the last thing he remembered before his bones snapped were a pair of chocolate brown eyes.

--------

Remus Lupin woke up long past noon from by far the worst transformation he had had in his whole life. He wondered where his friends were but found that he could not remember anything. The only thing that he recalled was that something horrible had happened. He walked out of the cellar and looked at the apartment which had been torn apart by death eaters. He found a copy of yesterday's daily prophet on the coffee table and picked it up.

A/n: I know that relationships are not always flowers and sunshine especially with the war looming over them but reading about Remus and Sirius growing distant and doubtful of each other always made me sad so I found another explanation for why Remus believed that Sirius was a traitor.

Do you think Hermione should be excited or sad to know that Remus is her father?

Option A: She is excited because her adopted parents did not treat her very well and now, she has someone else who loves and accepts her.

Option B: Her adopted parents love her (Like in cannon) and she is sad to know that they are not her real parents.

I have made a poll for the above question and I request all of you to please attempt it because the plot of the story after this chapter depends on this major variable and I cannot get myself to choose one.
