Ch19. Secrets Out

Opening my eyes I had no idea what time it was. The lack of windows in the room made it just as dark as it was last night. The clock on the wall was taunting me. Bright enough to see it was there, too dark to actually read it.

Reaching over I tried grabbing my wand in hopes of creating some light, but something was holding me down. Turning my head I was met with a heavy arm anchoring me to the couch. I tried scooting out of his hold but he seemed to somehow grab on tighter. Plan B it is. Lifting his arm as much as he'd let me I started shimying down trying to physically crawl out underneath it.  His chest rose suddenly as his lungs filled with air.

"Nooo"

A raspy whine left Ron's mouth and his arm tugged me back against his chest, ruining any progress I had made. Stuffing his head in the crook of my neck he made himself comfortable again.

"Noooo Ron. It's time to get up." I tried to persuade.

"Whyy"

Flipping around his eyes were still shut but his face was scrunched in frustration.

"Come on, I can guarantee you we've slept enough"

He shook his head. "'M still tired"

I forgot how hard it was to get Ron up. Typically we have somewhere to be, or class but today we had nothing. Which means nothing to bribe him out of bed with. We're still on holiday and I reckon most people aren't going out today since we were all up so late. Usually, on times like this, I'd just have to keep lying there or physically force my way out. But today I had a different idea.

Placing a hand on his cheek I leaned forward bumping my nose against his before connecting our forehead.

His eyes snapped open while he furrowed his brows.

"What are you up to?" he grumbled

"What? Thought I was your girlfriend now. Do you not want me to kiss you?"

His eyes widened, cheeks turning a nice shade of red.

Shaking his head slightly His hand slipped from my waist down to my hip.

"So you do want me to kiss you?"

I slid my hand through his hair until it rested on the back of his neck.

"Y-yeah" He stuttered nervously.

His head instantly tipped up. Pulling the back of his neck forward our lips brushed slightly against each other. His breathing became heavier as he made his way forward trying to close the gap.

"Well, I guess you're gonna have to get up if you want that."

With him completely entranced in the moment, I rolled away finally escaping his grip. Grabbing my wand I quickly cast Lumos trying to see what time it was.

12:14 pm

"Holy shit Ron it's noon!"

Jumping up from the couch my feet pad across the floor as I try to gather all my things. Turning around to try and find my shoes somewhere on the floor, Ron was sprung straight up leaning back on his hands as he blinked repeatedly.

"Did you just seduce me!?" He questioned his voice cracking.

Crouching down to grab my shoes I let out a hard laugh.

"I don't know if I'd call it that exactly. It worked though didn't it?"

Grabbing my dress I folded it over a few times so I wouldn't be dragging it around the castle.

Running through my mental checklist of items I made sure I had everything I brought in.

"Bloody hell woman. You've gone mad"

I placed my hand on my chest, faking an offended expression. I grabbed his robes that he just left on the floor and threw them at him.

"Shut up and get up"

We had both made our way back to our dorms to shower and change. Afterward, we met back up in the common room to go to lunch.

Entering the great hall it was amazing how it looked as if nothing had changed. Each table was returned to its previous position as if there had never been a dance last night. Harry and Hermione were already sitting down. Walking over we took a seat in front of them.

"Well we thought you two were never gonna show up" Harry smirked

"Yeah well ya know, the dance went on late," I said piling my plate full. I was starving.

"Wouldn't know I left when Hermione and Krum left"

Guilt flooded my conscience. With everything that happened last night, I had completely forgotten about that.

"I'm so sorry Harry, I didn't mean to ditch you like that."

He quickly looked up shaking his head quickly

"No, I wasn't complaining. I'm glad you got that bloke to stop sulking alone at the table." He motioned over to Ron before taking another bite of his food.

Ron shot Harry an angry look.

"Piss off Harry. I was not sulking"

Hermione flipped the page of a large book she was reading smirking to herself

"You both danced for a while, how late did you get back to the common room?"

Ron and I looked at each other as he shoved a piece of roll in his mouth. I couldn't just say never. Technically we didn't get back till past noon today.

"Um. I don't remember the exact time but It was pretty late."

Harry's fork clanged down on his plate. Scrunching his nose he started scratching the back of his head.

"Ya know it's funny because I went in to get you for breakfast this morning Ron and you weren't there"

Merlin, I wish they'd just come out and ask where we were instead of beating around the bush. It was all making me anxious.

Turning to my left Ron looked like a deer in headlights. Placing the remainder of his roll back on his plate he cleared his throat.

"Yeah! That would be because... Ya see I had to-"

"Jesus Christ we fell asleep watching a movie okay?"

Harry and Hermione looked at each other smirking as they started giggling. Harry picked his fork back up continuing to eat.

"You could have just said that ya know. Nothing new"

Yep, nothing new here. It's not that I didn't want them to know about us, It just felt awkward blurting it out at the table.

Ron glanced toward me smirking. Something that Mione caught despite looking down on her book 90% of the time. Her eyes trailed over giving me an excited look.

"So anyways, Harry have you got that egg figured out?"

~~~
Harry had not figured the egg out. The rest of lunch had been filled with multiple lectures from Mione. Only after Harry promised we'd work on the egg today, were we allowed to go back to the common room. Clamoring through the portrait hole we all took a seat in front of the lit fireplace.
Hermione paced back and forth trying to figure out a way to de-code the egg. Harry sat in an armchair, elbows placed on his knees while he held his head trying to keep up with Mione. Ron was sat in the middle of the couch while I sat to his right sprawled out with my legs in his lap.
"When do you think she'll stop? She's making my head hurt."
Ron whispered once again toying with the rings on my fingers.
Snickering quietly I looked over watching as she rattled off different ideas.
"I don't know. Looks like she's still going strong."
Throwing his head back on the couch he let out a long sigh. While still lying on the back of the couch his head suddenly turned.
"Ya know I think you still owe me something," he whispered as a wide smirk spread across his face.
"And what would that be"
leaning the side of my head on the couch I matched his position.
Threading our fingers together he continued
"Well if I remember correctly you kinda left me hanging this morning"
Hermione's relentless planning turned into a soft hum. Just background noise in our little bubble.
My free hand came up and brushed some of the hair out of his eyes.
"Uh-huh. And you want me to do that right now. In front of everyone in here."
"No, but it's a great reason for us to leave." he snickered quietly
Mione's panic planning really was getting to me too. I love her, and we really do need to figure out this egg but this is tiring.
"We're supposed to be helping, Ron"
Another loud sigh left his mouth
"Are you two even listening?"
 Hermione's panic look was now directed at us.
"Honestly, the next task is coming up. We only have a month to figure out the egg and plan out everything you'll need to make it through!"
Harry looked over. His bored expression lightening up.
"What's this then?"
Sitting back up straight he nodded toward us
"What do you mean?"
I didn't think we were doing anything different than usual. Looking around I came up with nothing.
Harry just held out a hand pointing.
Looking down I saw our interlocked hands.
"Let's hear about this then" His smirk radiated out. No sign of boredom left.
Looking next to me Ron was smirking back to Harry apparently not so shy anymore now that we're in the common room.
"What are you reading each other's minds right now?" I blurted
"What's going on?" Hermione looked back and forth between Harry and Ron
Ron turned toward me still smirking
"Merlin all of you come off it. We're dating is that what you want to hear?"
Harry leaned over giving Ron a loud high-five.
Jesus.
"I knew it! I was telling Harry last night you both seemed different when you went out to the dance floor." Hermione chimed in forgetting about her pacing
"Well I'm just glad I don't have to listen to you both go on and on about each other"
Harry leaned back into the chair
"Oh piss off"
Ron chucked a pillow at a snickering Harry.
Well, it's out there. It's not exactly how I planned on telling them but it works.
"Okay as happy as I am for you both, we do need to get back to work."
"Fine, but if we're gonna keep going I'm going to need you to sit down. Your pacing is making me dizzy." I urged holding my head.
Walking over to the last empty armchair by the fire Mione sat down running a hand through her now huge hair. She had been stress-pulling at her hair for a while now. All her curls were brushed and frizzy.
"Okay let's get to it."
