Interlude: Falling for the wrong one

Draco Lucius Malfoy remembered the day he had first thought of his arch-nemesis as beautiful vividly.

Prior to this particular assessment of his, he had always thought of Cressida Potter as an undeserving brat. The girl had annoyed him to no end. Ever the attention seeker, she hadn't let a single chance to jump in and play savior by.

Be it the when he had taken Longbottom's remembrall or when he had had his father file a case against that beast two years ago, she had stood up to him and looked down at him as though he was something foul.

But whatever she had done had always intrigued him and in turn, made him give in to the temptation to do anything in his power that he was sure she would react to. He liked assessing her responses to different things.

Her personality had always enthralled him. Shy but fierce, she was an enigma he wanted to solve. The girl was friendly and cold in equal proportions and he was often left to wonder where would they have been had she not been with the Weasel when he had approached her.

He would deny it later but he had always wanted to be friends with the snarky Gryffindor. When this little wish of his developed into something more, he would never know.

All he could comprehend was that last year, he had fallen hard for The Girl Who Lived.

He had snuck off  to The Forbidden Forest to escape from Pansy, his date to the Yule Ball. That girl sure could talk. Anyway, he had been heeding over to a small clearing that had become his safe haven over the years, when he heard a very beautiful voice. He was was so entrances that he didn't even notice when he had changed directions.

As he walked further, he begun to understand a few words of the melody.

............You made this place a home,
A shelter from the storm.
You said that I had one life and a true heart
I tried my best and I came so far
But you will never know..............

A song he hadn't heard before but couldn't care less as let the sweet voice lead him deep into the Forest. What he came across was indescribably beautiful. Under a tree sat not the Great Cressida Potter but a very fair maiden.

Her long, black hair were left unbound for the first time, he could only see one side of her face and her long eyelashes. Her skin shone in the moonlight as wind seemed to play with  her long waves. She gazed across the clearing, seemingly lost. He could only imagine how beautiful her clear emerald eyes would look. Her form almost glowed and for a moment, Draco thought he had just seen a Goddess at her best.

Believe it or not, he had always preferred soft music and the fact that Potter was singing didn't change it one bit. Infact, he fell in love with her voice and the slight accent it carried. So, he had stood there, listening to her sing, hidden behind a tree.

Ever since, he had left for The Forbidden Forest every night but never found her there again. He was disappointed when the Year End came.

But if he was disappointed at the end of the year, he was downright heartbroken when he heard that Cressida hadn't returned for this year. He hoped that the girl was fine. He knew that Diggory's death had taken a toll over her.

It must've been traumatizing for her to watch someone being murdered in front of her eyes. He didn't give a damn to what anyone thought. He knew that Cressida of all people wouldn't have lied about something as terrifying as a fellow student's death and The Dark Lord's resurrection.

He could only hope that the girl he had come to love would not lose herself.

Guess what? I finally figured the pairings out! So this going to be a fem harry ×draco  fic! Did you like the chapter? Yeah it is short and I am sorry for it. Anyway, I want you to know that I am an Indian so, please forgive me for mixing British and American styles together. I swear on the Styx it isn't intentional. Love you all!
