I took off my sweaty shirt after practice and decided to freshen up. "Are you going tonight?" Hayden asked as she sprayed her deodorant on. She changed into another clean t-shirt.

I looked over at her and took my headband off. "To what?" I asked.

I heard a couple snickers come from the other girls in the locker room. I paid no attention to it and instead continued looking at Hayden. "To the hockey party, silly," she laughed.

"Oh," I smiled a bit. "Yeah." I heard a snicker again and finally decided to look over. "What's funny?" I asked the three girls.

Valerie, one of the sophomore goalies, uncovered her mouth and answered me. "You know you can't go to hockey parties without an invite right?"

I nodded my head, "Yeah."

She ran her fingers through her hair and grew closer. "Someone who's not a freshie, right?"

"Yeah..." I answered.

"Then who invited you?" She crossed her arms over her chest.

"Luke did," I said.

Her mouth gaped open. "Luke?!" she gasped. "As in Luke Hughes?!"

"Yeah," I answered her. "Look if you want me to pull up the text I can."

"No no no," she said while waving her hand. "I just can't believe he's friends with... you."

"What is that supposed to mean?" I glared at her, my chest puffing out.

Hayden grabbed a hold of me. "Jocelyn," she said calmly. "Let it go."

I continued glaring at her then turned away from Valerie. I threw on my New Jersey Devils hoodie and made my way out of the field house.

I found Luke sitting on a bench outside while on his phone. He looked up when I got closer and smiled, "Hey. There you are!"

I gave him a weak smile in return and said, "Hey."

He frowned and got up from his seat. "Why have you been so upset recently? What's bothering you?"

I shrugged my shoulders and sighed. "Nothing. It's just... this bitch on my team is absolutely crazy."

"Who?" he asked as we began walking away from the field house.

"Valerie Love," I sighed.

"Oh, she's bat shit crazy," he laughed. "She's the girl I was telling you about last year."

I furrowed my eyebrows and whipped my head over to him. "The one who's obsessed with you?! That's her?!" I started hysterically laughing.

"Yeah, yeah. Shut up," he laughed.

"Wait! How did you even meet her?!" I asked.

"At a party," he laughed. "Yeah, we kissed during a game of spin the bottle and she thought I liked her or something like that. Little does she know I went to the bathroom after that to puke."  I giggled. "Anyway, that isn't the point. Tell me why you're acting like you have to go kill her."

"Because she's been harassing me the whole week! You don't understand, Luke!" I cried. "She keeps on coming up to me and belittling me. Like today she treated me like I'm not allowed to be anywhere near you. Like I'm not allowed to be your best friend. Like Im not allowed to have..." I paused and closed my eyes. Fortunately, the sentence 'have feelings for you' got caught in my throat.

I took a deep breath and opened my eyes and looked at him. He was just smiling, not seeming bothered by anything at all. "Just don't pay attention to her. She's just jealous," he said.

"Clearly," I scoffed.

Eventually, we made it to my dorm. Luke looked down at me and smiled. "Okay, you should probably get there at 8:30 since people usually start rolling in at 9. The line will be out the door by then."

I cracked a smile, "you mean to tell me there's gonna be a bouncer at the damn door?"

"If by bouncer you mean Nolan, then yeah!" he said. "I'll catch you later." He pulled me into a hug. This hug felt safe and secure. My cheeks flushed red as I embraced him. We let go and I made my way to my dorm while getting my key out of my bag.

I unlocked the door and made my way back to my room to take a shower. I washed my hair and body off before changing into something more comfortable. I stayed in my room for a bit after that and did some homework for my classes.

I started feeling thirsty so I walked out of my room and was greeted by Rutger and Hayden cuddled up on the couch while giggling. "Hey, you're home!" I said.

She sat up in her spot and smiled. "Hey," she responded.

I looked over at Rutger with a shrug. "Shouldn't you be getting ready for the party?"

He shrugged, "I'll leave in like an hour." A grin then formed on his face as he cooed, "Where's Lukey?"

I frowned, "He's back at your frat house."

He ran his fingers through his hair and smirked. "Okay," he said as he got up from the couch. "He told you guys to come at 8:30 right?"

"Yeah," I said while nodding. Hayden furrowed her eyebrows. "We have to go earlier because the line will be out the door apparently."

"Like a club?" she asked.

"Yeah," Rutger said as he grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge. I held out my hands for him to toss me one, so he did. "Ethan told me people go crazy for the party after the first winning hockey game. It's pretty much tradition," he continued talking.

Hayden hummed. "Interesting," she said.

After a while, Rutger left and Asher came over. "I found out that Luca's bi," Asher said while sitting on my bed again.

"Really? How?" I asked.

"His brother Adam," he smiled. "I think I'm gonna try to make a move tonight or something."

I smiled, "That's cute!" I went through my closet to find something to wear. "Should I wear Luke's hoodie or something?" I said as I grabbed a white USA hoodie from when he was on the national hockey team.

Hayden hummed, "Meh." She got up from my rolly chair and went through my closet. I let her work her magic as she flipped through every article of clothing. She grabbed a black skirt, a white tank top, and button up shirt with Jack's number on it from the New Jersey Devils. "This is cute!"

She passed it over to me and sent me to try it on. I went into the bathroom and got changed into it. It was adorable. Hayden knew how to dress me. "What kind of shoes should I wear?" I asked as I walked out of the bathroom.

Asher gasped and clapped his hands. "That looks so good! Holy, shit!" He ran his fingers through his hair and looked down at his own outfit. He just wore a white button up shirt that was halfway buttoned and a pair of black shorts.

Meanwhile, Hayden wore a black hem dress with a flannel. "Here, wear these." She grabbed a pair of my panda dunks and held them up to me.

I put them on and took one more look at myself in the mirror. "Okay, I'm ready to go!"
