Plot Summary

"You were merely wishing for the end of pain, the monster said. Your own pain. An end to how it isolated you. It is the most human wish of all."

― Patrick Ness, A Monster Calls

Summary:

What is it they say? Something about burying hatchets and turning blind eyes? Forgive and Forget.

After the death of their father, siblings Sara and Evan Tover are drowning. Sinking in grief and guilt, and grasping at any semblance of normalcy in an unforgiving world. With their mother lost to them in her own grief-stricken world, they only have each other to lean on, but even that isn't enough to carry the burden of their loss as well as their own personal struggles. As the oldest, Evan steps up to be the strong one, which is easy for someone who is an expert at hiding themselves away. Sara, on the other hand, tries her best to make each day seem better for their little brother Josh, who is too young to know this tragedy. Filled with humour, heartbreak and twists, this is a story about the strength of family and learning to live again.
