Prologue

He doesn't even know I exist, why do I love him so much?

"I ask you the same thing everyday", your younger sister raised her eyebrows at you across your rented house' dining table.

"Did I say that out loud?", you smiled sheepishly as you cleaned your empty plates. She just shook her head at you.

"I'll do the dishes today. Go ahead and rest since you just finished your exams", she reassured as she took your usual spot in the sink. You thanked her shortly before returning to your small bedroom. It wouldn't take her long to finish the dishes anyway since only the two of you live in the apartment.

You moved to your apartment, away from your parents, when you entered college and your younger sister, 2 years your junior, joined you after she also started going to the same university as you.

You washed up and turned off the alarms in your phone since starting tomorrow, your semestral break is starting and you are temporarily free from the clutches of your 7 am classes.

You turned off the lights and was about to tuck in to bed when your younger sister uninvitedly entered your room in her wet apron. You stared at the wet mess she just did to your floor, you were about to complain at her when she shoved a red bracelet with a silver bird pendant on your chest.

You cocked your eyebrows at her in confusion, but inspected the bracelet afterwards. "Is this mine?".

She nodded. "It's supposed to help you find your soul mate, the one you share your red string with. A girl in the university festival earlier handed it to me, but I figured you needed it more",your younger sister wiggled the silver ring on her ring finger in front of your face and you swatted her hand away in playful annoyance.

She had grinned at your sour face. Ever since she met her first boyfriend at the freshman assembly, she's been trying to set you up with guys so as to not let you feel 'left out'. However, nothing really worked. You tried really hard but your heart is just unwilling.

"I don't need a love charm to-"

"Just wear it. You have nothing to lose, plus it looks pretty anyway. I think it fits your style too", your sister helped you put on the bracelet before going back to the kitchen.

"Thanks, go to sleep after you're done with that alright?", you said before wearing your eyemask.

"Yes ma'am. Goodnight and sweet dreams".
