"Is that all Mr. Remora?" I asked, quirking an eyebrow after writing down the last instruction he had just dictated to me.

"No," was his reply, but I couldn't help noticing the mischievous glint in his eyes. I had a feeling that he was doing this on purpose. "there are a few more things I would like for you to take down... but I may have to think about them first since I'm making them up just now to annoy you."

"What?" I asked outraged. He suddenly deadpanned and repeated,

"I said there are a few more things I want you to take down."

I sunk into my chair muttering a confused "oh".

Mr. Remora smirked a little before propping his elbows onto his desk and staring at me from behind his moulded fingers.

Something was up. If the glint in his eyes didn't say anything, the small smirk I glimpsed behind his hands surely did. I just sat there and waited for him to get bored of staring at me though, as I made a pen sketch of him with devil horns on my almost finished-out-of-clean-papers notepad, which reminded me that I needed to demand a new one. I almost showed the sketch to him and got myself a load more of work when I was interrupted by a loud banging on the door making me almost fall out my seat.

I looked at Mr. Remora with shocked eyes and bated breath as I whispered inhumanely quick to him, "Mr. Remora, what did you do? If you had some problems with the law why didn't you tell me instead of having me find out this way? I may hate you but I'm still your assistant. I will not go to jail with you!"

Mr. Remora deadpanned before uttering three words, "Are you stupid?" and then rose to go open the door.

"Well it has got to be that you killed someone and it's the police at the door, or you forgot to meet with the queen for tea and it's still the police at the door, because whoever else it may be must be high on crack to even be banging. On. The. Door!" I defended myself, looking around stupidly as he pulled the door open.

"Riddian!"

I turned in my chair as Mr. Remora looked to see who had had the audacity to just almost tear the office door down.

It was a woman.

Aubrey was the first name that came to mind, and I realized I couldn't have been far off since the woman literally threw herself at him. Not so surprisingly, Mr. Remora hugged her back making my stomach fall in fright?

"Oh I know, I woke up ona different earth this morning, didn't I?" I mised to myself, a finger tapping against my chin.

Mr. Remora pulled away from the lady and held her at arms' length.

"Jalessa, what are you doing here?"

"I came to visit you of course."

So not Aubrey? For some reason I smiled at that.

For some reason, subconscious muttered, but I paid her no attention as all was turned to the two at the door.

"How's it been?" the lady asked again, and my boss was about to answer when he stopped and turned towards me. I stood from my chair and straightened my skirt, not having to be told even once to leave by the look in Mr. Remora's eyes.

"Jeez, I'm going, I'm going," I whispered under my breath as the look intensified and the lady gave me a smile of sympathy as I strolled out. The man was such a drama king, and one who was really trying my patience. I really needed to get out of the place before I accidentally ripped his head off, though who could blame me?

I fell into my chair and spun once as I tried to remember the last time I hung out with Jake in the last two weeks. And that was it, I couldn't, since when I wasn't at work; I was either sleeping, shopping, or doing stuff around the house. As for Harper and Julian, I also only saw them by chance nowadays, and even though I know my job was more important, I still couldn't help the feeling that sometimes Mr. Remora only gave me the work he did because he still hadn't gotten his revenge as yet. Once I even contemplated telling him to just shoot me and be done with it, but I stopped the silly thoughts immediately.

I sighed and buried my head in my hands before shaking off my laziness and grabbing the first folder laying on my desk to start reading.

The Leonals' Trade system- blah, bah, blah... new shipping route... five ships on the coast... blah, blah, blah...Mr. Jordon Henry and assistant manager Mr. Josk Cover... blah, blah—blah?

[Back] [back] [back]

I looked at the document well. Josk Cover? The dude who called Mr. Remora by his first name?

I threw my head back and started a very grateful prayer to God for the coincidence and realization. The answer had come to me, and it was a very simple one.

Riddian.

This was the answer!

Mr. Remora did not like to be addressed by his first name and the thought of how I had not thought of this before was like a weight of stupidity dropped onto my shoulders.

How had I really not considered this before? It was a simple equation:

ME + calling Mr. Remora by his first name = me getting fired!

Or killed, my inner person chipped in chirpily. Was I the only one with a sadistic subconscious?

I rolled my eyes at myself before spinning around in my chair. Finally, a way out! This may be my only-

"Ms. Harrington, I have a special task for you, and just keep in mind that succeeding or failing at this task determines how good or bad the rest of your week will be. My office, now." My rather irritating boss spoke through the intercom, being rather irritating at the moment. Yeah he was doing his best work.

I immediately sat up in the chair, but almost fell out as I was dizzy for a second since I had been spinning. I could be a real clutz sometimes, but enough about that. If I wanted this to work, then I was going to have to start now.

Taking a deep breath, I rose and walked over to Mr. Remor- Riddian's door. My, my, I had only thought of the word and my gut was clenching in a bad way. It just felt wrong to address him in such a manner, but if this was going to get me fired then so be it. I just hoped he wouldn't kill me before that happened. I would very much like the taste of freedom at least once more before my demise thank you very much.

I pushed the door open to come face to face with Ms. Blake. I froze, not being able to stop myself being in awe of her. She was of dark complexion, had a shoulder-length, curly, black bob with red ends, and playful but very dark, almost black eyes. She was dressed in a very attractive but professional skirt suit and smiled warmly at me. If she had been Audrey, even I could not have admonished Mr. Remo- Riddian, for being interested in her!

I was about to step aside so she could leave but she beat me to it. I watched as Mr. Re- Riddian!- rolled his eyes at the scene before looking back to his work.

"Thanks," I murmured to Ms. Blake as I passed. She nodded and left, closing the door behind her. Then I shook out my shocks and placed a smile on my face. My stomach clenched harshly for what I was about to do.

"You called for me Riddian?"

Mr. Re-Riddian, stopped what he had been doing immediately and for a few seconds, froze in his place. Then he slowly looked up.

"Excuse me?" he asked, unnaturally calm. I gulped, my heart constricting harshly.

"Well if you really need to be then okay, you are excused? But considering that you are the one who had called me here, I would be really confused as to why you would leave immediately afterwards," I replied, acting oblivious to my obvious high treason against him.

Mr. Re- ugh! I really needed to get used to calling him Riddian- eyes widened even more.

"Excuse me!" he growled, standing from his chair and narrowing his gaze at me. For some reason that made me even more regretful, but:

I. Continued. Anyways. Because I was stupid like that.

"Ah Riddian, do you need me to call for your doctor or something, you seem a little bit pale and I am getting concerned about the fact that you are not hearing me clearly."

Now the man just slammed his palms onto the desk as he snapped out,

"What. Did. You. Just. Call me?"

Silence...

and then a bit more quietness.

Come on Kat, you can do this...

"Uh, Riddian?" I closed my eyes quickly.

Five seconds— no, ten seconds—thirty seconds? A minute?

I opened my eyes to find Riddian staring at me blankly, before his eyebrows furrowed showing very high levels of confusion. He looked completely at a loss and as though he had been shot all over again as he fell into his chair and leaned all the way back. His hand was firmly placed over over his heart, as if he was on the brink of death, and all I could do was deadpan and shake my head as I thought,

Drama king.

"Sir? Are you oka-"

"I need you to escort Ms. Blake to meet with my sister at a store not far from here," he spoke softly and then grimaced before clearing his throat.

I suddenly forgot his strange behaviour and repeated his orders just to be clear. "You want me to take Ms. Blake to see your sister?"

"Yes," he muttered turning away, still clutching his suit mind you, "And you are to keep them company until they decide to leave, then you will return here."

I twisted my mouth, still hella confused, but then clutched my skirt as a thought came to mind. Had me calling the man Riddian given him some kinda shock that made him forget his order for me to stay away from his sister?

I smiled nervously before taking a step further into the room.

"Ah sir, since you're obviously not thinking straight, do you want another chance to restate that sentence? You seem to have gotten that all wrong."

Yeah I should be happy that I can now speak to Whitney, but gosh, if the man was really only temporary blinded by shock and I did follow these orders, how would he punish me for this offense? I'd rather not find out.

"Goodbye Ms. Harrington," he groaned out. I looked at him curiously before turning and heading back to the door.

"Oh and Miss Harrington?"

I stopped.

"Thank you." I almost fainted.

"For what!"

"For giving me yet another reason to kill you. When you return, we'll have much to discuss," he managed to strain out as he spun in his chair so I could no longer see his face.

Well HA-HA CRAP!
