"Good morning Ms. Harrington." the girl at the front desk greeted politely as soon as I stepped through the front doors of the Remora House building.

"Morning," I replied with fake enthusiasm as I reached her desk.

"Mr. Remora requested that I send you up immediately after you arrived." she informed me, pointing to the elevator which caused a mental groan.

"Thanks." I muttered before walking off towards it.

"And Ms. Harrington?" front desk girl called. I turned back to her. I really needed to find out her name. "Ah..good luck." she wished me sincerely in just above a whisper, making me smile and mutter a thanks as I left. Somehow, that only made me even more nervous.

"Hey Katherine! Wait up!" Julian called just as I was stepping into the elevator. He must've just entered the building when he had spotted me and called. I quickly held the elevator for him so seconds later, he slipped through the doors, out of breath.

"Hey," he panted.

"Morning." I gave a small smile.

"You ready for work today?" he asked with a playful smirk. I groaned making him laugh.

"Don't worry, it won't be that bad. It's your first day and Mr. Gordon normally goes easy on new workers on their first day." he notified me amused. "Plus a few tips, stay out of the big boss' way and... well yeah, that's it, just stay out of the big boss' way. He might seem like a decent guy, but he is not as nice in person as he may seem. As a matter of fact, I don't think I have even met anyone who said that he seems nice." he looked down in thought. I threw my head back as I pleaded to God to help me. Like really, the only thing left for me to do was cry.

Decent? Nice? Please! The guy was the most self centered, the rudest and most douche baggy bastard I had ever met in my entire life!

Julian must've sensed my worry and uncomfortableness because he came closer and placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "Hey don't worry," he repeated, "as I have said before, Mr. Gordon is like the best employer you could have in this business. Don't sweat it."

I groaned, sighed and then placed my hand to my forehead. "Julian you don't understand, I have to sweat it! Mr. Gordon is not my employer anymore!" I said desperately, causing him to furrow his eyebrows in confusion.

"Well then I take back what I had said. I'm sure that whoever your boss is won't be hard on you either." he tried to comfort me.

"But you just said that Mr. Gordon is the best-"

"Listen, forget what I just said," he interrupted me. "Only what I'm about to say now matters okay? You're gonna do great today on your first, official, full day at work, and your boss is gonna love you so much that it'll be a breeze working here. You seriously have nothing to worry about, especially with friends like Harper and myself." he ended. The sincerity in his voice immediately calmed me.

I released a breath. Julian was right, I was gonna be just fine. I could do anything with God's help as long as I put my mind to it. This was gonna be a breeze and Mr. Remora is going to love me! I'll be the best P.A. he has ever had and when it's time for me to leave he'll be begging me to stay!

Suddenly Julian started chuckling. "What is it?" I inquired with a small smile.

"I was just thinking about what a lie that would've been if we had been talking about the big boss." he replied still chuckling.

"Huh?"

"I mean I don't want you to get scared or anything since it is most likely that you will only see him if he ever comes to your floor for a supervisory session, you're good otherwise. But I was just thinking about that new PA I heard he's hired. The poor soul, I can guarantee that that speech I just gave to you would be foolishness if I were to ever say it to her!" he chuckled before continuing, "I mean I've heard that working directly under Mr. Remora is pure torture, even heard that he's worse than his father and his father was pretty bad. I haven't had the privilege to have that experience however since I haven't even spoken to him before." Julian chuckled some more before sighing. "I don't know of I should consider myself lucky, or blessed."

My eyes widened with every word that left Julian's mouth, but he seemed oblivious to this. "I wonder who the new PA is though, I would like to offer my condolences to her family." he murmured to himself.

My eyes almost blew their fuses!

"Julian, I am!"

7:00am

"Your desk is right outside Mr. Remora's office." A lady who worked down the hall informed me as soon as I had stepped out of the elevator and onto the top floor.

"Thanks." I smiled softly. She smiled back before returning to her work.

I walked down the hall as if my death was waiting for me at the end, but then suddenly I stopped. "Wait a minute, why am I behaving like this? I am a strong, confident, brave young woman, and I will not be intimidated by this bastard!" I whisper yelled to myself before I started taking confident, bold steps down the hallway. I was ready.

I glared at the door that now stood in front of me and pushed back my shoulders. Okay, here I go- "Are you gonna stand out there all morning or are you going to enter?" the voice of my employer sounded from inside the room. My mouth twisted and I rolled my eyes. Of course he would somehow know that I was out there! What a freak!

I pushed the door open, went in and then closed it behind me. "Good morning Mr. Remora." I greeted, trying to make a good impression for my first day working for the little piece of...

"Get me my black coffee now. Also, clear whatever appointments I have at eight and set up another with Mr. Lane of Dire Enterprise. Set up a lunch meeting with my private lawyer. Tell him its about the case he's currently working on. I want the Blood book on my desk in ten minutes and get Jones to pick my mother up from the airport. Email Dominic the presentation Mr. Forren, the TD guy, has created and have him send it to my father," he instructed with his eyes on the screen of his laptop the entire time. Suddenly he looked up from whatever he had been typing. I closed my mouth and set my eyes back to the normal size. He sighed and grabbed a black file from the desk. "Have you got that Ms. Harrington?" he asked in a tone of annoyance.

"Ah..yeah, sure." I replied, nodding my head before muttering a "Let's go with that." under my breath. Another sigh emanated from his throat.

"Okay which part did you not get?" he asked, still typing and his eyes still on the screen.

"Um everything after black coffee." I replied with a small nod.

"I see," he gave a single nod. "I expect all of those things to be done by nine."

I stared at him in disbelief. What? Did he not hear what I had just said?

"Ms. Harrington, my hand is feeling around for my mug of black coffee and so far there is nothing in my grasp." Mr. Remora informed me making me snap out of my head and back to real life. I quickly muttered a "Yes sir, right away sir," before rushing out of there even though I had seen that his hands had not moved from the file he had been scrutinizing.

"Okay okay, black coffee. Where do I get that?" I wondered out loud, but then snapped my fingers as I thought, "Cafeteria."

I grabbed the notepad I'd brought -thankfully- and a pen from my bag, and then yelling "Hold the elevator!" I rushed towards it.

:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:

It was already 7:20am and I had only gotten Mr. Remora's coffee...okay that's not even entirely true since I was currently at the cafeteria getting it. It was a smart thing to carry the pen and notebook as so far I had written down two more things that I had recalled from his list of duties I had to do...only five or six left to go.

When I finally got the coffee I rushed back to the top floor as fast as the elevator could carry me while stopping every three minutes to pick up or drop off someone. By the time I was back on the 40th floor, there was a pro and a con. The pro? I had gathered some pieces of Mr. Remora's instructions, but con? His coffee was seriously cold.

I ignored that teensy fact hoping that maybe he wouldn't notice as I ran into his office to place it down and then ran out to do something else.

"Ms. Harrington! My coffee is cold!"

Well we can't all get what we want now can we?

Okay what's next? Ah..
1. Bring black coffee ✔
2. Clear appointment at eight and set up another with Ms. Lane of Desire enter price..mmm
2. Set up a lunch meeting with private lawyer for current case
3. Blue book on desk by ten
4.Jones to pick up mother from the airport
5. Email Dominic the presentation Forren guy created and send to father

I think that's it? Now...how on earth do I clear the eight am appointment and what in the works is a desire enter price?

2 hours later

"Have you got it now?" Harper asked causing me to look away from the computer that was before me. I grinned and nodded.

"Yeah, thanks a lot Harper. I couldn't have done this without you." I sighed gratefully. "Sorry for taking you from your work though. I hope you don't get into any kind of trouble."

"Don't sweat it, the worst punishment I could get is to work for him," she nodded in the direction of Mr. Remora, " and you've already got that.." she trailed off after realizing that she was only rubbing in it. "Well anyways, Julian's got me covered so there's really nothing to worry about." she explained. I thanked her again before allowing her to leave since thanks to her, my list was now looking like this:

1. Bring black coffee ✔
2. Clear appointment at eight and set up another with Ms. Lane of Desire enter price✔
(All the appointments that Mr. Remora had, had actually been typed up onto the computer by the previous assistant, so it turned out that all I had to do was check for the date and time and clear whatever she had written there. I also found out, by the same appointment timetable, that she had a schedule that she followed every week outside of the appointment fixing and all. Sadly, it did include bringing him his coffee every morning at 7am. Just great. I did find out however that it was a Mr. Lane that was from a company called "Dire Enterprise", but come on, it was an honest mistake.)

2. Set up a lunch meeting with private lawyer for current case✔
3. Blue book on desk by ten✔ (Mr. Remora was very pissed when I brought the book at nine, turns out he had said in ten minutes instead of at ten. And also, the book turned put to be 'the Blood book' and not 'the Blue' book...okay I have to admit that I have no idea how I heard that)

4. Jones to pick up mother from the airport✔(At first I spent ten minutes trying to find out who this Jones guy was, but when Harper arrived, she quickly informed me that he was Mr. Remora's private driver. Now that made a lot of sense)

5. Email Dominic the presentation Forren guy created and send to father✔ (Now that was the problem. I didn't know Dominic's email address and I just knew that Mr. Remora would not tell me just to get on my nerves. I found a way however by checking the previous PA's notes and emailed it as soon as possible.)

"Ms. Harrington." Mr. Remora's voice came through the intercom that was on my desk.

"Yes sir?" I asked by pressing the button and awaited his response. Nothing. "Mr. Remora?" I asked.

Silence. He could hear me couldn't he? "Hello?"

"Ms. Harrington get in my office now and stop wasting my time."

"Yes sir." I stood quickly and hurried to him WITH A NOTEBOOK AND PEN THIS TIME. I smirked at the thought.

"Ms. Harrington, send me soft copies of the new plans Mr. Tor is working on for the building, and that lunch date I had you set up, reschedule for tomorrow since I'm not in the mood for that. Tell Mr. Gordon to see me in my office in the next five minutes and get the conference room ready for the meeting in an hour." he instructed making me scowl mentally. I mean he can't give just one instruction at a time, he has to give fifteen!

I was just leaving when he stopped me. "And Ms. Harrington?"

"Yes sir."

"You did a horrible job this morning." he muttered.

I gritted my teeth and strutted out with homicidal thoughts. Just one hit, just one hit to his head and I would be fine...
