A Spencer Reid Story: Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Beep……beep…..beep……beep

Spencer awoke to the sound of an annoying beep. Ugh, what is that. Stop that. Stop that annoying sound. His head was in a fog. He couldn’t think straight. Where was he? He opened his eyes, trying to adjust to the brightness of the room he was in. He could feel a soft bed beneath him. His eyes adjusted and focused on a familiar face sitting next to him. “Garcia what is that annoying beeping. Turn it off.” His voice was hoarse. He could use a tall glass of water right now.

“You’re awake! Oh Spencer! And I can’t turn that beeping off silly. That’s your heart monitor!” Garcia was her normal bubble of joy. Spencer rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, finally being able to take in his surroundings. He was in a hospital bed, Garcia and JJ watching over him. He shook his head, trying to remember the events of last night. “What all happened last night?”

“Last night Reid, oooooh no, try more like two days ago hunny.” Garcia tucked a stray blonde curl behind her ear as she spoke. Reid just stared at her. He had been out for two days?

“Yeah champ we we’re pretty worried. Even though the bullet only grazed you it got a good chunk of one of your veins, so you lost a lot of blood. We decided to take shifts to make sure you had someone here when you woke up. We we’re super worried. How ya feeling now?” JJ’s voice was soft, motherly. He smiled warmly at her.

“I feel… okay now… a little sore.” Then it hit him. “Where’s Catherine? She alright?”

“Hi Dr. Reid!” His face turned to see a bubbly looking girl in the doorway. Catherine smiled as she slowly made her way into the room. He noticed a slight limp. He smiled at her. She was alright! She came over to his bedside. Her curly hair fell lusciously around her face. “Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.” Her smile was infectious and could be heard in her voice.

“Catherine, you’re alright!” He smiled, glad to see her face. He remembered her, stone cold and unconscious. The memory was unwelcome.

“I came to thank you properly for saving my life. Such a handsome young doctor like you, saving people lives. You are my hero.” And before she could talk herself out of it she planted a swift kiss upon his cheek. Her own cheeks flushed royal red as she looked down and smiled like a goof. Spencer at first was surprised, but then a sudden warm feeling overcame him. It felt…. nice. This was new.

Catherine smiled, seeing how Spencer reacted. JJ and Garcia sniggered like school girls. Suddenly aware of their presence Catherine slipped a piece of paper on Spencer’s bed. “Now it’s your turn to call me, Dr. Reid.” She blushed again, winked, blushed even more and then left the room, quickly waving goodbye to Garcia and JJ.

“Oooooh Reid I think she has a crush on you.” JJ sniggered as she lightly punched his arm. Garcia smiled a mile wide.

“What? Oh no… no. That’s no possible. It’s probably just idaliziation of becoming a dominant authority figure and-“

“Reid, she digs you man. Just accept it and go with the flow.” Derek Morgan entered the room, a smile on his face. Spencer smiled. Morgan was his favorite partner.

“Oh yeah. How would you know Derek?” Reid tried to sound annoyed but he ended up laughing and smiling at the end of his sentence.

“Because Reid, I am allllll knowing.” Derek chuckled and then said “Orrr it’s because I ran into her in the hallway and she was muttering to herself about something like “Oh he doesn’t even like me, that was so stupid to give him my number, what was I thinking, blah blah blah.” Derek flashed a wolfish grin as Spencer stared up at him. He closed his eyes for a minute, picturing the smell of strawberries and the touch of her curly hair. Yes, he would like to get to know her better. Looks aren’t everything ya know. Would she have an intellectual mind to keep up with his? Would he care?

“Nurse, I would like a discharge with a side of pain meds.”
