Gossip?

After unpacking all that junk from his car and cleaning his apartment, Clint pondered what to do next. It was somewhere around 4:00, too late for lunch, but also too early for dinner. Besides, he didn't have a kitchen, any place he knew had one, or even a simple oven. The apartment didn't provide any of those things for him, despite it literally being their job to do so. But when he went to complain about this to the accountant (or whatever you call a person behind the desk), she simply smiled and handed him the rules, or terms and conditions of this place. Since when did this feature get here?

"Well, that's disappointing" Clint said, awkwardly staring at the page, unsure of what to think of it.

"Sorry sir, we just had this system installed a few weeks ago. You must be new here" replied the woman.

"Well, I am, actually" Clint said, with an embarrassed look on his face. He didn't really like socializing, not after what happened with his "friends".

"Well, I can't really help you with that, unfortunately. But there is a bento store nearby. Really cheap too. And if you prefer home cooked meals, there's a convenience store nearby" said the last with a reassuring smile. The kind of smile that you'd expect to come from someone you know really well. Like a lover. Wait, what am I thinking?

Clint looked up at her, and just realized how close he was to her. She didn't seem to mind either. Should he move away from her? Nah, she would realise what happened. But if he didn't do anything at all, it would look weird to others. And she would realise anyways.

"...Yeah, thanks miss" he said after a long pause. He takes a step back and walks out of the complex. It was a long day after all, and a little stroll would help clear his mind. Now that he thought about it, that lady back at the counter looked beautiful. A nice smile too.

What better place to relax than in a park? Ok, maybe home could be better, but go touch grass. I know most of the people using Wattpad is only here for the smut, and to be completely honest, it's understandable, but still weird.

Anyways, back to our protagonist. Nothing better than a stroll in the park. Fresh air all around you, a smooth pavement to walk across, a clear blue sky (although I'd prefer it to be cloudy. More shadows), the sound of birds chirping, the greenery, and the sweet but faint odour of flowers blooming. Sure, the world has a lot of problems that had to be dealt with, but in moments like this, the deserve to be forgotten for a while.

Taking a seat, he recalls the memories of his old home. A big place. Maybe too big just for one person. Maybe it was better to move out. A small apartment was easier to manage, and the view was decent, compared to his old window. He did miss the birds that he fed outside, but they were better off without him anyways. Now that the topic was brought up, this was a chance to start a new life.

Since we're reminiscing, I just realized I forgot to tell you guys something about his past. Well, he was once a criminal who made a living off of petty theft and robbing houses. He never got caught, but he didn't need to. The guilt from these crimes was enough to stop Clint from continuing this lifestyle, and he decided to return the things he stole to his victims (at night, of course. Don't wanna get caught again), and swore to himself that he would become a better person, and live his life to the fullest. Didn't know his dreams could get crushed simply by being betrayed by his friends and fired from his office job just like that. How foolish of him to think of such an exaggeration. Of course it isn't like that. Life is not just rainbows and butterflies. It has ups and downs (in my case, just downs), and this is one of those down moments. Eh, it'll work out. He's the main character, plot armour exists on him.

Clint, after daydreaming and completely missing the helicopter that just flew past, snapped back. That little flashback there have him a bit of energy, maybe because it was like a power nap (if you even know what that is). Just then, he overhears some teenage girls talking loudly about some...person. It's not good to interfere with other's daily lives, so Clint just decides to look away and think about that bento store near his apartment. Man, this guy likes bento. But his attention was caught when "celebrity" was mentioned. He only knew a handful, so hoped that this one was a musical artist. Japanese music hit different. You weebs have to agree with me.

"...her career was skyrocketing. But that recent breakup really damaged her reputation"

Breakup? Oh, she's single. Hehe. No, I'm not that down bad. But you are. Admit it.

"I heard she moved here so to avoid him. Understandable, but unfortunate for her ex. Also, you heard her new album? I think she vented through that song".

Ah, a musical artist. Just what Clint needed. He gets up and walks away, smiling, attracting the attention of other people walking past him, all having different opinions about what's going on inside his head. You know how I know? I'm the damn writer, of course I know. I can break the 4th wall every time I want.

After returning home, he slumps on the futon and starts contemplating his life. He sighs, and drops his face into his pillow, before pulling back, realising he nearly suffocated himself. He turns over and stares at the ceiling, realising how badly me messed up.

"Damn, I really rocked myself..."

Groaning, he holds his pillow and shouts into it, the cotton muffling his frustrated tantrum. He pulls the pillow down and looks up at the ceiling again. Moments later, his eyes start to betray him as he slowly falls asleep, a bit too early in the morning.
