Chapter 13: Hollow

Gon's POV (play music)

I stared at the ceiling silently as the moon shone through my window. My thoughts were haunted by the Jasmine City princess. She lay six inches away from me in our bed. Dried tears stained her sweet cheeks. She'd cried herself to sleep.

Upon hearing this, I was on the verge of crying myself. My heart felt like it was being torn when I heard that beautiful goddess cry.

But she would only push me away when I attempted to hug her.

I was told by Gavin to keep an eye on her in case she ran off or something. But I didn't want to hold her down. I wanted Rose to be free. I gulped and whispered quietly. "I'm sorry, Rosie..." A single tear escaped my eyes, dripping down to my ear.

As if in response, Rose  shifted in her sleep, facing me. I shivered in sudden delight as her breath tickled my shoulder. Her mouth was slightly open. Desire ate into my bones. I wanted to kiss her so bad. Her lips looked so soft and luscious. Without thinking, I leaned closer to Rose. I wanted to stroke her soft hair and feel her loving hands touch my skin.

I pressed my lips to hers softly and closed my eyes. That wonderful, addicting, intoxicating feeling rushed through my body once again. I pulled away and felt myself being dragged back into reality once again.

All of a sudden, I felt her groan. I scooted back. Rose opened her eyes and stared at me. Almost instantly, her eyes filled with anger that burned in her soft pink eyes. My heart tightened at her glare. I looked down. When I looked back up, she had already turned away from me.

"Rosie... I-" She cut me off.

"I-I d-don't w-w-w-want to s-s-speak w-w-w-with y-y-you. D-d-d-don't t-t-talk t-t-to m-m-me..." Her stuttering was worsening. And she didn't sound too firm. "Are you lying, Rose?" My voice was much stronger. She flinched.

I lifted a hand slowly and placed it on her shoulder. "If you were telling the truth, you wouldn't be stuttering. You wouldn't even be in this bed with me. You may have taken apart lies on the witness stand, but you're a terrible liar yourself. Please, Rosie... Just talk to me..." I quietly begged.

Rose's muscles relaxed and she turned around to face me, with all traces of anger gone. Her beautiful rose-gold eyes melted into calm pools. "O-okay..." I couldn't help but feel warmer when she moved closer to me. My heart began to pound.

Calm down... I urged myself. She does this all the time; calm down... But I couldn't. This was much harder than trailing a pervy clown. The girl that I'm so deeply in love with is pressing her breasts... Against... My chest...!

My body felt like there was a sauna trapped inside my chest. Rose now had her arms around my back, and her (rather large) breasts were... smushed against my chest. I guessed that my face was totally red.

The beautiful woman looked up at me closely. "G-Gon... D-do y-you h-have a f-fever...?" She lifted a hand to put on my forehead. I flinched at her soft touch. I shook my head. "N-no, Rosie..."

"Y-y-you're heart is b-beating q-quickly as w-well... A-are y-you s-sure th-that y-you're o-okay...?" Worry painted over her face now. I closed my eyes, took in a deep breath, then exhaled calmly. I lifted a hand and stroked her hair softly. "Yeah... I'm fine now, Rosie..."

Rose smiled her lovely smile and moved closer to my face. I blushed again, but not as red. Rose cleared her throat and spoke softly, "I'm sorry, Gon... I shouldn't wrap you up in all of my problems..."

I smiled. "Rosie, you don't have to apologize. I know you just want your friend back... But, I can't let you go back to the castle."

She nodded, her eyes holding a bit of sadness. "I know..."

Relief flowed into my body. "So your friend... Can I ask what she's like? You said that her name was Ange..."

She nodded happily. I could feel the pride rolling off of her. "Her name is Ange, yes... And she's a wonderful, wonderful friend of mine... She's been with me since I was born! We were born at the same time!"

I widened my eyes in shock. I don't know why, but jealousy pricked my heart a bit. "Really?! That's awesome!"

"She's been with me all the time... Until six years ago..." Rose trailed off and looked away.

"Six years ago?" I repeated, confused at her sadness.

"Yes... That's when the punishments started..."

My heart almost tore in half. I grabbed her cheeks and forced her to look at me. "They've been going on for six years?!" I emphasized, letting the anger slip into my voice. She nodded, her eyes wide and a little frightened. The rage that I felt was overwhelming. But I held my Nen back. I didn't want her to get scared. Instead, I held onto Rose tightly for comfort.

"G-Gon..." She whispered. I stroked her lovely hair.  "I'm sorry, Rosie... I'm just so angry..."

She rubbed my back. "It's okay..."

"It's not. You don't deserve to be treated like that... For six years..." I could feel a tear prick at the corner of my eye. "Gon, it's okay... I know that those days are over now... Thanks to you..." She pulled away from my hug and looked into my eyes.

Her eyes held such a sweet comfort... That I couldn't help but be enticed by them. Rose softly held my cheeks and leaned closer. I blushed and slowly, hesitantly... Wrapped my arms around her slender waist. "I'll stay with you... I promise I won't leave..." She assured softly. Then I felt her lips touch mine delicately.

My heart swelled... And I kissed back.

I held her close for the rest of the night.
