You Assbutt.

To do:

1. Search for jobs

2. Buy groceries

3. Get caught up to date with Sherlock

Castiel put the list down and sighed, running a worried hand through wet hair. He'd woken up only an hour ago, deciding to shower then get straight to work. He couldn't afford to be unemployed for long, figuratively and literally. He'd rinsed super quick and written the list, not bothering to change afterwards, not wanting to waste time. He sat on his duvet, waist wrapped in a towel, laptop open and ready to search.

He sat until his dripping hair was no longer dripping. Fingers roamed keyboards and frustrating groans left lips. Nothing. No job in sight. Castiel slammed the laptop screen down as hard as he dared, bringing a fist to his mouth to bite down on. He sat there for a few more minutes in an angry silence, negative vibes swarming him, before finally changing clothes and moving onto task two.

He sadly realised as he grabbed his keys that he couldn't go to his usual store, so he had to drive a few more minutes into town instead. Once there he grabbed a trolley and headed into the unfamiliar yet  still familiar aisles.

The setting overwhelmed him. The registers dinged every so often, reminding him that the only time he'll hear them is when he's on the opposite side of the conveyor belt. Buying instead of scanning. Spending instead of earning. He sighed, pushing the trolley against the squeaky floor to where he needed.

All while being there, one thing wouldn't stop popping into his mind.

Dean.

He was everywhere he turned. He was sort of conflicted if that was a good thing or a bad thing too, which only frustrated him even more. He strolled past the produce section and found Dean's vibrant green eyes staring back at him in the granny smith apples. He did his best to ignore the alcohol aisle, and when he passed the spices a strong cinnamon scent wafted in the air. There was no escaping it.

Dean doesn't even remember that night, Castiel reminded himself. Not the deal we made, nor the words spoken leading up to the deal. He doesn't know I'm gay. He doesn't remember anything. Not the secrets I told, the secrets he told, God he probably doesn't even know that I know his brother's name.

He pushed those thoughts aside and hurried through the rest of the aisles, buying what he needed and almost speeding back home to complete task three.

The whole way back Castiel was trying to get Dean out of his head. His stupid smirk and his stupid jacket and his stupidly gorgeous laugh. When he finally returned home the only remainder of Dean left inside his mind was the blurry image of an asshole he'd once met at the place in which he used to work.

He took the elevator up to his apartment, grocery bags in hands. They were a bit heavy and the plastic weighed his hands down, pinching at his skin leaving red marks. He heaved the bags out of the elevator and turned down the corridor leading towards his apartment.

He suddenly stopped walking, letting his arms drop and his hands take all the weight. His shoulders slumped in disbelief. Outside his door there was a surprise waiting for Castiel. Yet again, he didn't know how to feel about it. Confused, definitely. Happy? Annoyed? Frustrated, probably. A mess of different emotions were filling his every being ...and yet all he could do was grin. All of his previous effort at forgetting the man leaning against his door was wasted. It was no longer blurry, the image was as clear as day and standing right in front of him.

"Dean?" He tried to contain the smile growing bigger and wider on his face, but it was almost impossible. He was becoming accustomed to seeing him turn up everywhere, but this time was different. All memories of Dean being an asshole faded from just one look the guy. He looked like a different person. A nice person even. Something of the guy he'd seen telling him he was secretly obsessed with Lord of The Rings over coffee.

Dean wasn't wearing his usual leather jacket. Instead he stood in dress pants, a white collared shirt and a blazer. He was wearing a damn suit. His hair was even combed back and Castiel could tell he'd shaved, especially since the smell of cinnamon mixed with aftershave was hanging around him. Castiel dropped his heavy shopping on the ground, too dumbfounded to do anything else. Dean was leaning against his apartment's door frame just like the other night, though this time he was sober and one hand was hidden behind his back. A green stalk decorated with thorns stuck out from behind.

"Surprise." He grinned, pushing himself off the wall and towards Castiel's stunned position. He presented the rose in front of him gracefully, and then guess what the asshole did? The damn guy grinned his infamous smirk knowing it's seductive powers, and Castiel thought for sure his heart stopped.

"I uh.. I actually do remember that night. I wanted to surprise you." He let out a soft laugh, staring at Castiel's shocked expression. "Job well done I take it." He smiled again, taking a step forwards, green eyes staring into blue. "...and well, I think it's time we go through with that deal."

Castiel didn't say anything for a while. He was using every second to take in how close their faces really were and how Dean's eyes were even greener up close, if that were possible. He thought about Dean saying how he didn't remember their conversation and it was then that he realised just how hurt he'd actually been by those words. Dean's and his own actions played on a constant replay ever since their 2am adventures. They cried together and screamed together, and then Dean lied about it all the next day.

So when Castiel spoke his next words they were kind of expected, and even though they weren't nice words, he said it with a grin that reached his eyes, laughter escaping his lips.

"You assbutt!"

A/N: That was a pretty shitty chapter if I do say so myself, but everything is wrapping up and will end soon. I hope you like it so far, feel free to leave your comments and thoughts. :) -Sammy
