Chapter 9 - Outside

Jax walk back over to where I am sitting on the bed, he sits on the side of the bed next to me. "So where were we?"

His hand is right back in his hair.

"I don't know it seems I just can't get away from him. So your emergency solved?"

"Not even close, it seems that someone beat the waitress at joes last night after we left. Cops just making sure it wasn't us. Apparently our police chief thinks we would stoop to woman beating."

I'm shaking, and I can feel that queasy feeling roiling in my chest. I spring up and rush to the bathroom and vomit. Jax is at my side immediately smoothing my hair.

"You don't have to baby me" not sure how I feel about how close he is to me. I stand drink some water and walk back in the bedroom, "can we walk outside?"

He smiles "anything you want darling"

We walk out of his room into the main room, littered with bodies, and party detritus and outside, I walk over to the picnic table we were sitting at the night before, the courtyard is busy with the workings of the auto shop. Jax sits down across from me and offers me a cigarette which I accept, even though I hadn't smoked since high school. Steve made me quit.

Juice walks out of the garage stall where my Honda has been pulled into, he looks at me, "keys please"

He look towards Jax, "already found not one but 2 GPS trackers one in the wheel well and one in the back bumper."

I look at Jax, "my purse, it's in your room"

He just looks at Juice. Who walks inside, bringing it back to me placing it on the table in front of me. I fish out my keys and hand them over.

I look at Jax "I really don't have that much money to pay for any repairs."

"Darling, we will figure it out. Want to tell me some more about your ex?"

I take a deep pull on my cigarette look up at Jax and shrug.

"What do you want to know, he is insane, I just want to get away."

He smiles shyly, "darling with those trackers in your car, you will never get away." His phone rings. He answers it, then gets up and walks away to take the call across the lot, pacing in front of the row of motorcycles when the woman I only briefly saw last night walks out of the garage office with a police officer. He gets in a car and drives off, she walks in my general direction.

She approaches me, "we didn't get a chance to talk last night, Gemma Teller." She extends her hand.

I nervously shake her hand.

"Pleasure to meet you"

She sits on the next table over facing me, "looks like you have caused quite a stir around here."

Shaking my head, "unintentional I promise. I just planned on staying a night or 2 on my way to Seattle."

Jax has finished his call and approaches us, he walks straight to his mother, placing a kiss on her forehead. 'Good morning mom, I guess Unser filled you in, where is Clay?"

'Yes Jax, that's why I came over here to talk to her, and he should be here any minute."

As if on cue I hear the sound of a motorcycle approaching. It pulls up on the lot and an older man with short grey hair gets off and strolls over to where we are sitting.

Gemma rises and hugs him. Jax half hugs him and they quietly talk for a minute before, Jax turns to me and says "Katelyn  I got a few things I have to take care of, can you stay here with my mom?"

I start to protest, "I really need to get back to my room, I could use a shower and a change of clothes." He smiles, "Mom, can you go with her, but only get your stuff you can shower here or at my moms house" he turns to his mom "just keep her with you, not out of your sight ok" she nods as Jax walks towards the door to the clubhouse, "I'm serious do not leave her alone, and take juice with you ok." And he vanishes inside.
