Following Viktor's POV

Upon opening the door to his new dorm, Viktor stepped inside. It was rather quiet, though that was to be expected as he arrived earlier so he could get his stuff moved in without getting in the way of anyone. He sighed, dreading having to move the total of two boxes he had to this dorm. For the average person, it surely wouldn't have been bad, but seeing as Viktor had to use a cane to help keep himself steady, that would be difficult.

Pushing the thought from his mind, he shut the door and stepped further into the dorm, now finding himself in a small living room consisting of a couch and coffee table. On the other side of the table was a small TV hanging on the wall. It wasn't bad. It looked rather nice with a nice amount of space, though that could be due to not having another person living here yet.

After having inspected the living room and small kitchen, Viktor limped to one of the two bedrooms, situated to the right of the living room. He nodded, taking in the sight of it. Pale, off-white walls greeted him along with a medium-sized bed in the middle. A dresser was placed in front of the wall across from the bed. A small window was situated on the wall left of the dresser, spilling natural light into the room.

After assessing the first bedroom, he moved to inspect the other. It was almost the exact mirrored image of the first bedroom, though it seemed slightly smaller with a smaller bed and walls that were a light gray. Viktor took a moment to appreciate the college's kindness with the rooms. They could've been way worse if the school didn't care. Perhaps the rooms were nice due to the college being on the wealthier side.

Deciding that he should go get his boxes, he left both rooms untouched, closing the doors quietly. He skimmed his gaze over the living room for a moment. He nodded, deciding he'd place his boxes there before claiming a room for himself without speaking to his roommate about it first. Keys in hand, he made his way towards the dorm's door, leaning on his cane as he did. After locking the door, he made his way down the hall.

Crisp autumn air hit his face as he left the school's dorm building, heading for the main office. He had set his boxes there as he had nowhere else to leave them. Upon entering the office, the lady behind the desk greeted him with her usual "good morning!". He dipped his head towards her and limped towards his boxes. He struggled to grab the first box, letting out a frustrated huff of air.

"Do you need any help?" The desk lady asked, looking up from her computer.

Embarrassed by his inability to pick up a single box on his own, Viktor shook his head, waving his hand a bit as if trying to fan the question away.

"No- But thank you, I got it," he replied quickly, not looking at the lady as he was sure she was giving him a judgemental look.

"Alright, if you change your mind, let me know."

Viktor didn't reply, only fumbled the first box a bit, propping it against his hip, holding it there. He'd have to come back for the other box. While walking back towards the dorm building, he relearned just how difficult it was to carry a box with one hand, not to mention how painful it was with the corner of the box digging into his side. He muttered under his breath, pausing so he could shift the box a bit, careful not to become unsteady without his cane. Though, he nearly dropped the box while trying to carefully balance himself and hold onto his cane whilst shifting the box.

After having moved the box to another comfortable position, he kept walking until he reached the dorm again. Though- it was odd. He could've sworn he had closed and locked the door, but here it was, open just a crack. His roommate must've been there by now. Pushing the door open more with his foot, he walked in a bit before lightly kicking the door closed behind him.

Upon reaching the living room, he dropped the box. It made a small thud as it hit the hardwood flooring. The noise must've been enough to alert the other person in the dorm as Viktor heard heavy footsteps coming from one of the rooms, growing louder as the person grew closer.

"Hi! You must be my roommate. Name's- Oh."

Viktor turned around at the voice and stopped upon seeing who it came from. The other person's hand was frozen mid-air before it dropped to their side.

"Oh" indeed.

Viktor stepped back a bit, away from the person who stood just a few feet in front of him. He knew who he was. He had heard his name occasionally when he and his group of goons would mess with Viktor.

"Jayce Talis. Yes, I know," Viktor responded, his voice quiet now.

"Hm, well-" Jayce held his position in the room, gazing at Viktor, an eyebrow raised. "I took the larger bedroom. But, you don't mind, do you?"

Viktor nearly scowled at the condescending tone Jayce held, but he bit his tongue, opting for something different.

"Yeah, yeah, sure. That is- Yeah, that's fine," Viktor shrugged a bit, reaching down to pick up the box again, deciding to move it his room. He hid his frustration for now, struggling to lift the box with one hand.

He grew embarrassed and more frustrated, still feeling Jayce's eyes on him. Eventually, he managed to lift the box, it digging into his side again to support it. He turned, noticing Jayce was, in fact, watching him. Upon Viktor seeing him, he poorly stifled a laugh, having apparently been amused by watching the other struggle at doing a simple task. As Viktor began to walk towards his room, he kept his eyes down, watching the floor.

He shuffled past Jayce, setting his cane on wall and quickly opening the door, reaching for his cane again so he didn't lose his balance. He kept the door open a crack so it was easier to leave and enter the room again. He dropped the box in the middle of the room with a huff, mumbling to himself. He let out a groan, remembering he had to lug another box up to his room. As he stepped out of his room and headed for the door, a voice sounded from the living room behind him.

"Where you off to? Gonna try to find some friends?"

Viktor gripped the handle of his cane, rolling his eyes, his back still to his roommate.

"If you must know, I have another box to bring up."

"Oh, well good luck with that," the other said, chuckling to himself out loud.

Without another word, Viktor slipped out of the dorm, walking down the hallway. His cane thudded roughly against the ground from his frustration as he carried on, sighing to himself.
