Daybreak Arc

A few days later, in Lucy’s apartment.

“Morning Lucy,” I say all groggily.

“Morning Kayla. Did you sleep well?” Lucy asks.

“Yep. Also, after your shower, don’t go out to your living room.”

“Why?”

“Just take your shower and get dressed then come out to the living room.”

“Okay…?” Lucy says as she goes to take her shower. I go out to the living room to get some of the food that Natsu and Happy stole from Lucy’s kitchen.

“You two do realize that she’s going to come out here and scream at you, right?” I tell them.

“Yeah, but it’s more fun to sneak in than it is to wait for someone to answer the door,” Natsu says.

“True…” I say.

“Natsu! Happy! Why are you in my living room?!” Lucy comes out and yells.

“I warned all of you,” I say.

“Thank you for doing so Kayla,” Lucy says.

“No prob!” I reply to Lucy. “Natsu! Don’t touch that! Lucy won’t even let me read it! She won’t let anyone read it until after it’s finished and after the war with the Alvarez Empire. Shit, sorry. I didn’t mean to say too much this time but I did.”

“We’re going to have to get used to it being that you’re stuck with us,” Natsu says.

“Yeah, or I have to learn to keep my big mouth shut when it comes to situations like this.”

“Anyways, back to the original topic, why are you two even here?”

“To explore your pad more than when we were here when we first met, and I want to know more about your little key guys,” Natsu says.

“Celestial spirits but anyways,” I say.

“How many do you have Lucy?” Happy asks.

“Seven, three golden keys and four silver which reminds me, I need to make a contract with the celestial spirit I got in Hargeon the other day,” Lucy says.

“Could you show us?” Natsu asks.

“Why not? I call upon thee in the world of the celestial spirits I beckon you to my side at once, pass through the gate. Open, gate of Canis Minor. Come, Nichola.”

Nichola appears, laughing nervously.

“So small,” Happy says.

“He’s meant to be small. He’s only really meant as a distraction spirit. Plus, most celestial wizards keep the little spirits as pets because they are cute,” I explain.

“Thanks Kayla. Couldn’t have said it better myself. Now, I’m going to make my contract,” Lucy says.

A few minutes later, Plue starts dancing around.

“What is he doing?” Happy asks.

“Oh man, you’re right about that,” Natsu says.

“You can understand him?” Lucy asks.

“Oh no,” I say under my breath as Natsu intensely stares at Lucy and I.

“Alright, it’s settled. You’re all joining my team,” Natsu says.

“A team?” Lucy asks.

“Yeah… Even though guild members are allied together, they have their own teams which are made up of groups of members who get along better. Teams are mainly meant for if a job is too hard for one person alone then the team members can help out,” I explain clearly annoyed. “Some teams in our guild are Laki and Reedus, Bisca and Alzack, Macao and Wakaba, and Cana and Loke-which won’t be a team for much longer once we get to the point where Lucy figures out the Loke is actually a celestial spirit that was banished from the celestial world,” I say with the last bit under my breath.

“Okay, and what was the last part?” Lucy asks.

“You really shouldn’t know right now,” I say.

“Why?” Natsu asks.

“It will screw up the quest that we are supposed to go on today.”

“Oh yeah! Here’s our first job right here,” Natsu says as he pulls out a piece of paper.

After everyone is done examining the quest paper, I start to speak.

"Oh yeah, that quest. I'm not going, you will figure out why," I say and turn to Happy. "Happy, if someone gives you something, don't forget about it. Got it?"

"Aye!" Happy says, confused on what I mean.

"You will know what I mean later," I say to clear the confusion.

"What are you going to do while we are on the quest?" Lucy asks me.

"I'm going to go to the guildhall and get my own quest to get my own jewel," I explain to them.

"Makes sense, I mean, you don't want to stay here the whole time that you're stuck here," Natsu says.

"Exactly, and it leaves jewel in Lucy's hands for food and rent. Plus, I don't want to tell you guys what you have to do completely otherwise you guys will probably be annoyed with me," I say sheepishly.

"Good point," Lucy says, trying to sound like she's disappointed but fails miserably.

"Well, see you later then Kayla!" Natsu says as he's heading out of Lucy's apartment with Happy and Lucy in tow.

"Bye!" I holler back. Time to go to the guildhall.

A few minutes later, I arrived at the guildhall. Once I entered, I got bombarded.

"Kayla!" I heard someone yell for me.

"Yeah?" I ask, still not sure who called for me.

"What's your magic type?" the same person asks who I found out was Mira.

"I prefer not to say?" I tried to say normally but it still came out sounding like a question.

"Why not?"

"Because I don't want people to know my magic otherwise everyone will want me on their team and I prefer to stay solo for now. Although, Natsu kinda forced me to be on his team already," I say as I mumbled the last part.

"Makes sense, I guess. What did you say at the end there? I didn't quite catch it," Mira says.

"Nothing! Hehe..." I reply as I rub the back of my head.

"Okay. But back to your magic type, could you tell me? I'll keep it secret from the others. Promise," Mira says.

"Fine… Where can we go so no one else hears us?" I finally give in and ask.

"We could go to my room in the girls dorms here on the guild grounds," Mira suggests.

I forgot about the dorms. "Works for me," I say.

"Great! Follow me," Mira says as she motions for me to follow her out of the guildhall.

It was about five minutes before we got to the dorms. When we got there, I kind of got awestruck. I guess I forgot about how great the dorms here were. I continued following Mira to her room, which was on the end of the hall on the third floor.

"Here we are," Mira says as she opens the door of her room.

"Thanks. Now my power…" I start, hesitant to say anything.

"Yeah," Mira says, trying to urge me on.

"I-I'm a g-god slayer w-who can use a-all of the e-el-elements…" I say, waiting for her response.

"Wait, all of the elements? Like fire, water, cavern, plant, sky, poison, metal, white, shadow and lightning?" Mira asks.

"Y-yeah," I responded.

"No way! No wonder you didn't want to say anything. Don't worry, my lips are sealed. One question though, does Lucy, Happy and Natsu know?"

"Yeah."

"Ain't it hard to use all of those at the same time?"

"What? No! Why would you think that?" I say, hoping she buys my lie and doesn't figure out that I don't know anything about my powers.

"Figured," she says, like she knew what I was thinking.

"Wha-what?"

"You don't know a thing about your powers."

"How did you know?!" I say while trying to keep my cool.

"First, any wizard with your magic level would have tons of jewel and wouldn't have to stay with someone. Second, you knew almost everyone's names the first day you joined the guild, if that isn't fishy at all. And finally, you would have stopped the fight on the first day if you knew how to use your powers," Mira explains in a matter of fact tone.

"How did you find out? Did Natsu, Lucy or Happy tell you? If they did I-"

"No, I just finally pieced it together just now," Mira says after she cut me off.

"Oh… What do you know?" I ask.

"Only what I've already said," Mira says. "I'm guessing that there's more to the story?"

"Yeah, about that… Would you mind keeping another but bigger secret?"

"Sure, what is it?"

"Okay, I'm not from this world and no, I'm not from Edolas. Where I'm from, everybody in this world and Edolas are a part of a TV show. A TV is a device that you can watch the news and other stuff on. Any questions?"

"How much do you know about us?!" Mira asks, shocked.

"I know pretty much everything. I guess you could say that I can predict the future without having a premonition."

"No way… So, if you know everything about us, what are Lucy, Happy and Natsu up to right now?"

"They are on a job where they have to destroy the last copy of 'Daybreak' which is actually a letter to the author's son. They will end up not destroying the book because Lucy will figure out the secret of the book and end up giving the book to the person who gave them the job in the first place. Also, once Lucy gets back, she should have a new celestial key, as long as Happy didn't forget what I told him," I explain.

"Okay. How about this, what happened to Lisanna?" Mira asks.

“You and Elfman thought you killed her but never found her body. I know where she is but won’t tell you until later on.”

“Wait… She’s alive?!” Mira exclaims, not believing what she just heard.

"Yeah, don’t tell Elfman though. I’d rather not have a lot of people knowing about my background. And could we go back to the guildhall? I kind of need to go on some jobs and be gone when Natsu and the others get back," I explain.

"Oh, yeah. You can go, I'm going to stay here for a few more minutes."

"Okay, see ya," I say as I start walking out of the dorms.

Once I start approaching the guildhall, I swear I see someone from my world. It almost looks like…

"Amara?"

"Hmm?" the person says and turns around. "Kayla?!"

"Yeah," I say as we are running towards each other. After we embrace I ask, "What are you doing here?"

"I was going to ask you the same question. But either way, I guess I just woke up here. Don't know how, but I did," she says.

"No way! How long have you been here?"

"Um, I guess I just got here this morning," Amara says, not really sure if she's right. "How about you? How did you end up here and how long have you been here?"

"I woke up here, just like you, a few hours before Lucy got Plue at a magic shop," I explain.

"That's why you have been missing in the real world for a few days," Amara says.

"Wait, WHAT?!" I scream. "Oops…"

"Yeah, your mom asked me where you were like you were with me or something. When I told her that I didn't know, she got worried like you had died. I'm pretty sure she called the police and have them looking for you. In a few days though, they’re probably going to give up and announce that you are nowhere to be found and are probably dead, to say the least," Amara says, tears in her eyes. After hearing all of that, I started crying.

"N-n-no, this can't be true… This is so stupid! What's the point of trying to get out if our family thinks that we're dead?!" I almost scream.

"In stories like these, you normally have a choice of either staying in the story or going home after the story is done. Please don't tell me that you plan on staying here," Amara says, begging on the last part.

"I don't know what I'm going to do yet. If there was a way for us to get a message to our families to let them know that we are alright, I would choose to go home easily but…" I say, trying to stay positive.

"I know what you mean. My parents know that you went missing, for all I know, they will be doing the same thing your parents did for me tomorrow since now I’m missing," Amara says, neither of us on a happy page.

Neither of us are acting like our normal selves. Both of us are normally all happy and go lucky all the time unless something like this happens. That's when I see Mira coming back to the guildhall.

"Hey Kayla, I thought you were going to go on some quests?" Mira asks.

"I was, but then I ran into her-" I say pointing to Amara, "-my friend from my world. Don't worry Amara, she knows everything about our situation. Well… except your magic. Do you know what you have?"

"No…" she says.

"That's fine. We can figure that out after you join the guild and we are on a job," I say.

"Okay. Mira, could you help me join the guild?" Amara asks Mira.

"Of course! Come with me," Mira says walking to the bar. Amara ends up getting her guild mark on her lower stomach.

"Now that you got your guild mark, let's go on some quests!" I exclaim to Amara.

"Yeah!" she exclaims back, both of us forgetting about our families for the time being.

We walk over to the request board and find many jobs.

"Hmm, which one to choose?" Amara and I say in unison. We both end up lauging.

"What about this one?" I say pointing to one that says we have to protect a shipment to the palace

"I'd rather not…" Amara says. "How about this one?" she points to one where we have to stop a gang of thieves.

"Yeah! I've been wanting to try out my powers. This will be perfect," I say.

"Kayla, what powers do you have?" Amara asks.

"I'll explain on the way," I reply.

We end up talking all the way to where we accepted the job. Amara was surprised to find out that I was an elemental god slayer and told me that she understands why I had told her to wait. I also explained to her that Lucy, Happy and Natsu knows about how I got here and where I'm from.

"Hello! You must be the two who are going to help with the thief quest," a man says from beside us.

"Yeah. I'm Kayla and she's Amara. We're from the Fairy Tail guild. Where should we go to start?" I respond.

"I need you guys to start at the town square and investigate. Once you find the thieves, I would like you to capture them and bring them and the goods back to town. Try to be lenient on damage if possible. Once you two get back, I will give you your reward," the man explains.

"Got it," Amara says as we walk to the town square.

"Okay, how should we start investigating? Any ideas?" I ask Amara.

"Aren’t you an elemental gs? Can't you somehow 'speak' with the elements?" Amara suggests.

"Good idea!" I shout as I start fusing to the ground as a shadow like Rogue, whom we won't meet for years (literally). "There are many people's footsteps, but there is only one path of them that leads out of town. Try to follow me Amara, if I get to where we need to be without you, I'll do a beacon type thing."

"Alright," Amara says as we try to get out of town.

I end up succeeding, being that I was a shadow, and Amara lost me, like I figured she would. I sent up the beacon for Amara to follow, luckily, she managed to get to me within a few minutes.

"Now that we are in grass and dirt, it should be easier to track the thieves but I'm gonna make it easier," I say as I make the grass and dirt darker where people have walked.

"Woah… that’s cool Kayla! Are you sure you are just learning how to use your powers?" Amara says, awestruck.

"Well… I did have some practice before you got here, hehe," I responded. "I have complete control over fire, water, sky, plant and cavern. I have lightning, white and shadow almost completely under control.  Poison still needs a lot of work."

"Oh, wow. That’s amazing. Wait, if you have almost every other type of magic, don't you have time, archive and celestial?" Amara asks.

"I know that I don’t have celestial magic, I’ve already tried using Lucy’s keys. Other than that, I don't know. That's something I'm going to have to figure out," I say. "Why are you asking though?"

"Because if you had time magic, we could track the thieves quicker than with the powers we have."

"Good point. Anyways, back to the task at hand, tracking the thieves. We already have the dirt and grass darker where people have walked and set stuff down. If I'm correct, the thieves went that way," I say pointing to the right of us.

"Let's go then!" Amara says as she starts running in the direction of where I was pointing.

Once we found the thieves we had a magic fight, which Amara and I won. Once the thieves were out, I tied them up in vines and healed all of us. I ended up using my sky magic to carry everything. On the plus side, Amara found out that she was a fire and water god slayer with the addition of the power to bring things she draws to life. Her drawings are more powerful than Reedus' though.

Once we got back to the town, we found the man that hired us and gave him the goods and the thieves.

"Great job girls! Not a single scratch on you, the thieves or the goods! I commend you. Here's your 1 million jewel," the man says, handing us our money and a bag. "Oh, and here's some food for the road. Just a little extra."

"Thanks!" Amara and I say in unison as we are both internally screaming.

Once we got out of town, we both started screaming with cheer.

"A million jewel?! That guys must have been crazy rich!" Amara says excitedly.

"No kidding! Now we can buy our own house and stash the money away somewhere so we can save it," I say, trying to be reasonable with our money. "That guy must also be a little cray-cray though, I mean, a million jewel for catching three thieves? That's a little much. I'm not complaining though."

"I completely agree with you. We also probably shouldn't tell anyone about how much we got," Amara says.

"Yeah. Hey look! We're already almost back in Magnolia!" I shout without even trying. "I wonder if Lucy, Happy and Natsu are back yet?"

"Probably not being that it did take them two episodes to finish that quest," Amara says.

"Yeah but we took a few hours to finish that quest and in reality, their quest only really took a few hours. The only thing that probably held them back is Natsu's motion sickness," I explain.

"True," Amara says as we approach the guildhall.

"Hey guys!" I say as we enter the guildhall. Nobody hears me because Natsu and Gray are fighting for the fifth time since I've been here.

"Natsu! Gray! Knock it off!" I shout, scaring both of them.

"Kayla! When did you get here?!" they both said in unison as Lucy came up behind me.

"I just got here a few seconds ago. Now, stop your fighting and Gray, get your clothes on. Stop letting that habit that Ur got you into get to you," I say letting the last piece slip out accidentally. "Shit!" I shout and slap my hands over my mouth.

“How do you know about Ur?!?” Gray asks me.

“Um… I met Lyon?” I say, hoping he bought my lie.

“Oh, that makes sense. Where did you meet him?”

“On Amara and my way to our job. We had a small convo about our past.”

“Okay,” Gray says and walks away.

“Wow Kayla, you have gotten good at lying,” Amara whispers in my ear.

“It’s not my fault. It’s the principle of whatever brought us to this world,” I whisper back.

“True. What’s the next quest thing that we are going on?” Amara asks.

“Either Lullaby or Galuna… I’m pretty sure it’s Lullaby though,” I respond, not ready for that flute thing.

“Oh yeah… that arc is worse than the previous two, in my opinion of course,” Amara says.

“What are you guys talking about?” someone came up behind us, not exactly sure who, and asked.

“We’re talking about us, nothing that you need to worry about, hehe,” I say, rubbing the back of my head.

“Alright,” they respond and walk away.

“I have a feeling that I’m going to have to reveal our powers now… but first, Happy, did you remember what I told you?” I asked the blue exceed.

“Aye! Here you go Lucy,” Happy says as he gives Lucy the celestial key of Virgo.

“How did you get this?!?!” Lucy half screams.

“After you guys defeated the man who owns the mansion, Virgo told Happy to give her key to you,” Amara says.

“How did you know that?!” Lucy, Natsu and Happy asked in unison.

“Calm down guys. She’s just like me. Meet Amara, my best friend from my world,” I explain.

“Great, now we have two miss know-it-alls,” Lucy says.

“We’ll try to keep eachother busy enough to not tell you everything. We’ll only tell you things that you really need to know, all right?” I suggest.

“Sounds fair. How about you tell us this, what’s our next adventure?” Natsu asks.

“Lullaby...” Amara and I say in unison.

“What do you mean ‘Lullaby’?” Lucy asks.

“Do you know of a flute that can kill everyone if a single song is played on it?” Amara asks.

“Yeah, is that what we are going to have to deal with?” Natsu asks.

“Yeah…” I say.

“What’s wrong with this quest?” Happy asks.

“Either this quest or the next, Amara and I will probably have to tell everyone what kind of magic we have since it involves the whole guild plus some of the other guilds,” I explain.

“Speaking of which, what is Amara’s magic?” Lucy asks.

“I’m a fire and water gs. I also have the power to bring my drawings to life, they are more powerful than Reedus’ though,” Amara explains.

“No way- Wait, gs? What is that?” Natsu asks.

“An abbreviation that Amara and I came up with for ‘god slayer.’ We just figured that having an abbreviation would limit the amount of people knowing our magic,” I explained.

After a while, Amara and I went to get a house for us to stay at for the duration of our stay in Fairy Tail. We ended up getting a two bedroom apartment with one bath and a kitchen that was mashed up with the living room. We ended up finding a little cache behind one of the pictures in our apartment, which is where we stashed the money we had left from buying the apartment and stocking up on food. Amara and I both hope that Natsu stays with the story line and tries to get with Lucy. Lullaby is going to be real fun… not. Maybe Amara and I will learn more by actually living it instead of just watching it. I guess we’ll find out.

How was part 3? Anything I should change? Should I try to make the arcs shorter (or longer for that matter)? Any preferences about Amara’s guild mark? I would love to hear your opinions (as long as they aren’t hate comments). Until next time!
