4- Rio de Janeiro

It was still dark. I impatiently waited for the rising sun to capture the shot of the rising sun next to Christ the Redeemer statue. Taehyung, on the other hand, was calm, but so calm that he was sleeping. We woke up at 2 AM in the morning to come hike all the way to the top of this mountain and he was tired.

I looked at my camera and the time read 6:36 AM. The sun was supposed to rise eleven minutes ago. "How has the sun not risen yet?" I asked myself.

Just then, the sky broke out into a series of orange and yellow rays. "It's here! It's here!" I exclaimed. Taehyung snapped out of his sleep and quickly fumbled for his camera. "Wow, that is truly lovely." I thought. The sight took my breath away. He looked at me and smiled, the cute dimple appearing. He looked as awed as I was. We took magnificent pictures together.

After, we visited the Christ the Redeemer statue. The full 125 feet towered over me. I felt like such a small being compared to this gigantic statue. The warm Brazilian air blew in my face.

While I was admiring the statue, Taehyung backed up and took a picture of him holding the statue as an optical illusion. "What?! That's so cool!" I burst out loud, my eyes wide open with fascination.

Taehyung looked thoughtful. He ordered, "Stand there," and gestured to a patch of grass a distance away. He set up a stand for his camera and then came close to me. "Pretend that we are hugging, but someone is in the middle of us," he told me.

I did so, and then the camera took the snapshot. Taehyung darted towards the camera to show me the photo. He let me take the camera and shifted his weight from side to side. "How do you like it?" he stammered.

The picture shows us hugging the statue and it putting his arms around us. "KIM TAEHYUNG YOU ARE GENIUS! These are amazing," I squealed and then hugged him tightly.

He blushed the color scarlet and asked, "Do you want to take some more?"

"YES. ABSOLUTELY," I exclaimed. We spent the rest of the afternoon playing with the Christ the Redeemer statue and Taehyung holding me, or at least just making it seem that way.

The beautiful pictures of the sunrise lingered in my mind as the grand Christ the Redeemer Statue faded away and I was left with a cloudy river. I was sad that the memory was over. I flipped to the next card, my legs getting sore from standing for such a long time. The next Polaroid was a photo of us standing on the top of a tower, my hands stretched out like a bird and him looking at me. "I look so free," I thought to myself, as the scene in front of me shifted and I was looking down 1000 feet to see all of Macau under my feet...
