Chapter 5- SFIT

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Your alarm clock's shrill sound started your day. Ecstatic for your first day at SFIT, you sprang out of bed. You threw on a pair of skinny jeans and a (f/c) hoodie, and tied your (h/c) hair up in a high ponytail. (If you have short hair ignore that last part) after brushing your teeth, you ran downstairs, and found your mom cooking your favorite breakfast in honor of your first day of college.

"Good morning, sweetie! How did you sleep?" She smiled, while grabbing a few ingredients out of the fridge.

"Okay, I guess." You admitted, but you left out the part where you couldn't sleep after thinking about Tadashi.

"Well, I'm making your favorite, because your my little college girl! Promise to tell me everything when you get home."

"Okay, mom." You smiled weakly as you sat on the stool at the kitchen island.

"Order up!" Your mom slid the plate of (favorite breakfast) in front of you, and your mouth watered at the lovely aroma. Your mom was a really good cook.

As much as you wanted to savor your delicious homemade breakfast, you had to be out the door in ten minutes, so you were forced to eat a little quicker than usual. As soon as your plate was clean, you put it and the silverware in the dishwasher. You walked to the front door. You pulled on and laced your (f/c) converse and slung your backpack on your shoulders.

"Bye, Mom!" You called, pulling the front door open, revealing the bustling streets of San Fransokyo.

"Have fun!"

Fortunately for you, the SFIT campus was only a ten minute walk from your house. When you arrived, you walked to the big, glass building. Students filled the halls, walking to who knows where. You pulled the piece of paper Tadashi had given you with your lab number.

Name: (f/n) (l/n)
Ito Ishioka Robotics Lab
Lab #117

You took the elevator up to laboratory level. The long hallway was lined with doors on either side. You found your lab after walking a bit, and pulled out your ID card and slid it in the lock.

In your lab, you found Tadashi already helping you organize your tools. Your stomach did a flip.

"Oh! Tadashi! Uh... good morning. What are you doing in my lab?"

"Helping you organize your stuff, obviously. And good morning, (y/n)."

You finally got your eyes off Tadashi for a few moments to explore your lab. There was a big workbench on one side, and tools were hung on the wall above it. There was a large, circular window looking out onto the extensive SFIT campus. The autumn setting looked very pretty now; the leaves had just begun falling off the trees, coating the sidewalks in red, yellow, and orange.

You exhaled, quite satisfied.

"This is nice!"

"Glad you like it. My lab's two doors down, if you need anything." He smiled, and you thanked him, before he slipped out of the room, leaving you alone with your tools. Your first class started soon, so you made your way downstairs. You really liked SFIT so far.

Your first class of the day was History. You arrived in the classroom, scanning for Tadashi, but to your dismay, he wasn't there. You sat down next a shorter girl who had short black hair with a few purple streaks in it, and fierce brown eyes. She wore a black, cropped leather jacket over a white tank top, athletic shorts over a pair of black and purple leggings, and sneakers.

"Hey, I'm (y/n)." You said to her in a kind tone.

"Hi, (y/n). Everyone here calls me Go Go."

You noticed Go Go didn't talk much, but she seemed pretty nice. All's you learned about her was that her major was industrial engineering.

That class was alright, and you made a new friend.

Tadashi found you at lunchtime, and invited you to sit with him and his friends. You noticed Go Go from history immediately.

"Okay, everyone, this is my very good friend, (y/n)." He pointed at each one of his friends introducing them to you.

He pointed at a girl with long blonde hair held out of her face by a yellow headband, and green eyes hidden behind big glasses with pink frames. She wore a yellow dress with a long orange cardigan over it.

"That's Honey," his finger moved to Go Go, and he said her name.

"I met Go Go in history." Go Go smiled in response.

"That's Wasabi," a tall and burly man with dark skin, dreadlocks, and a green sweater smiled an waved to you.

"And Fred. He's our mascot." Fred had blond hair barely touching his shoulders covered by a green beanie with a monster on it. He wore a red t-shirt with a Japanese kaiju layered over a long sleeved white shirt.

"It's so nice to meet you, (y/n)!" Honey exclaimed happily, beaming at you.

"Welcome to SFIT!" Wasabi said.

"Now that you are an honorary member of our team, I need to get thinking on your nickname." Fred grinned.

You already began to feel at home at SFIT. You had robotics class with Tadashi and you sat next to him.

The professor talked about the first and the biggest assignment: a project that is innovative and useful. You spent the class time thinking about what you wanted to do. Finally, you had a really good idea. You decided on building a battery operated, interactive, and eco-friendly hoverboard. You caught Tadashi taking a peek at your sketches.

"Those are really good. A hoverboard is a really cool idea!" He said, making you blush a little.

"Thanks. You got any ideas?"

"Yeah, I'm going to build a robotic nurse. You know, it could heal injuries, help you recover from illness, and help a lot of people."

"That sounds really amazing." You stared back at your sketches, wondering if yours could ever compare to his. Later, during free lab, everyone met up, and worked on their projects in each other's company.

"I'm working on what I call chemical metal embrittlement!" Chemistry whiz Honey eagerly showed you her station. "It's using chemicals to break down metal, and I've already developed a foam that hardens on contact, and a squishy jello type formula."

"I'm developing an extremely precise laser." Wasabi showed you the beginnings of his project, and you couldn't help but notice his impeccably clean desk with all his tools layed out nice and neat, not a speck of dirt in sight. It was obvious he was a huge neat freak, and he seemed to have OCD.

"I'm building a bike with magnetic levitation wheels, and it has no breaks." Go Go fired up the 3D printer, and made a perfect looking wheel.

"She doesn't need brakes, Go Go likes to go fast!" Fred exclaimed.

After seeing everyone's fascinating ideas you started working on the very beginnings of your hoverboard.

At the end of the day, you went home with a few rolled up blueprints sticking up out of your backpack. Your conclusion: SFIT is amazing!
