"Surprise?" She said, slightly worried that he didn't want to see her. Maybe this trip was a mistake, maybe Matt didn't like her and he was just kidding about that date, maybe her friends were wrong, maybe–

Her train of thought was interrupted by Matt rushing up to her and picking her up in his arms, hugging her and spinning her around. She laughed, elated and bright and happy, and almost didn't hear everyone else cheering and Harry screaming "OH MY GOD MATTELLA" over the sound of her heart beating at a hundred miles per hour – she was here, he was here. They were fucking hugging.

It felt too short a time when Ella was pulled out of Matt's arms and into the embrace of three people at once, Ella sharing a group hug with Alberto, Dom and Harry – who she collectively referred to as her peanuts, for some odd reason or another.

          "Wha- what? You're here. I- how?" Matt said, or rather tried to say, after he had pulled her closer to her body again.

"Airplane, mostly. But car too."

"That's not what I mean."

"I wanted to see you–" The rest of their friends, who had retreated to different parts of the apartment after they had all been united, let our various versions of "HEY, I HEARD THAT!"'s and "WHAT ABOUT ME?"'s. "–and everyone else." Ella added.

He smiled, brushing a fallen hair out of her face. "Well, I'm honoured you wanted to see me."

"Plus, you said you wanted to take me out. Now you can."
