Chapter 28 : Who do you think I prefer...?

A/N : actually, chapters 27 and 28 were only one, but it was almost 6000 words long and it can seem endless for a reader. So I cut it in half and I can't proudly say "double update!"^^'

Seeing Namjoon and Seokjin so close, Taehyung wasn't thrilled.

"Stop cuddling him, he's too old for that now."

"No, I won't stop, just because you're jealous," Namjoon scoffed as he tightened his embrace around a desperate Seokjin to be caught again as the reason for the conflict between the two brothers. However, he did not have the opportunity to be heard.

"Jin is not your girlfriend, let go of him, it's inappropriate at your old age, Namjerk," Taehyung said at Namjoon.

"Says the one who sleeps with him and cuddling him all night. What does your girlfriend think about it by the way?" Namjoon replied slyly without paying attention to the delivery boy who was watching the scene with a bewildered look. "If Yoona doesn't know, I can handle it and tell her everything, you know. Knowing her big viper mouth, she will not hesitate to blackmail you with this information by threatening to ruin your reputation in no time. It'll only be fair after all you've done wrong to the students at this school, don't you think? I'm sure everyone will be happy to witness your humiliation."

"Namjoo-" Seokjin wanted to protest, seeing Taehyung's face flush with a mixture of shame and anger.

"Joonie," Namjoon corrected him kindly.

"Ah yes, Joonie," Seokjin corrected himself, "please don't do that, don't threaten him, that's not nice."

His intervention seemed to calm Taehyung down a bit.

"But he deserves it, after all he did to you, I have to avenge you."

"You don't need to avenge me, so don't say that kind of meanness, it's beneath you. I don't want you to be like that. So please don't do this okay?"

Annoyed that instead of defending him, Seokjin rather gave the impression that he was taking care to preserve his brother's moral spirit, Taehyung interrupted their exchange curtly:

"You have to pay the delivery boy, Namjoon, he is waiting; I don't have any money."

Namjoon and Seokjin turned in one motion to the embarrassed delivery boy.

"No, I refuse to pay you anything," Namjoon immediately refused.

"It's not for me, it's for Jin."

Seokjin wanted to intervene, saying he didn't need it and would eat the hospital food, but Taehyung quickly added to Namjoon's attention:

"If you want him to eat something good and not that infamous food they serve here, you will have to pay."

Namjoon shot him a venomous look but didn't reply, knowing that Seokjin was watching him carefully and expecting more from him than a response to Taehyung's provocations. He took a deep breath, let go of Seokjin, and paid the delivery boy who hastened to take the money and leave.

Seeing Taehyung settling on the bed with the food bags and inviting Seokjin to do the same, Namjoon joined them but said at Taehyung:

"I'm not sure I want to offer you food, maybe we'll just eat both in front of you."

"Joonie!" Seokjin scolded him. "Taehyung has to eat too, you can't deprive him of food."

"Just kidding, Jinnie."

"If you call him Joonie again, then call me Tae," Taehyung ordered as he started eating, not thanking Seokjin for his intervention as he would have eaten even without Namjoon's approval.

"No," Seokjin refused as he pecked at the dishes laid out on the bed.

Surprised, Namjoon burst out laughing while Taehyung, recovered from his surprise, exclaimed:

"No? And why this?!"

"I do not want, I'm sorry."

Seokjin was suddenly eating with more appetite, realizing how delicious the food Taehyung ordered was and also, how hungry he was because the meal the day before had been very meager after the intense match he had played.

"Mmmmmmm," he said without noticing that sauce was running down his chin, "that's delicious!"

"I'm glad you like it," Namjoon told him with a smile.

"I ordered the food, not you," Taehyung reminded Namjoon dryly.

"Yeah, but I paid for it. Come over here, Jinnie," he added, grabbing a paper towel to wipe his chin.

"Oops, thanks Joonie."

"Are you doing this to taunt me Jin?" Taehyung asked, annoyed

"What? No, not at all, why would I taunt you? I don't want you to get mad at me again!"

"Then why do you refuse to call me Tae while you call him Joonie?"

"Because he asked me to!"

"But I also asked you!"

"No, you ordered him," Namjoon reminded him.

"Stop inserting yourself into our conversation, I didn't invite you!" his brother shouted at him. "Jin?" he said, waiting for Seokjin's explanations and not Namjoon's.

"Joonie was nice to me, I couldn't refuse his demand," Seokjin explained.

"Me too! I was nice to you, don't forget!"

Seokjin took on a conciliatory tone:

"I have not forgotten. It's true you've been nice to me since last night and I'm glad and grateful that you care about me, but I can't do what you asked because if I call you Tae again in private, I'm going to mess up and call you that at school in front of the other, and you will still believe that I humiliated you in front of others but even if it's not true as my intention was never to humiliate you, you will not be happy so you will punish me," he concluded.

"I won't!" Taehyung assured. "You can call me that all the time now, even at school, I won't get angry because that's what I want, so don't worry about that."

"If I were him, I would also have trust issues," Namjoon taunted when he saw that Seokjin didn't seem very confident.

"Shut your mouth!" Taehyung exclaimed, exasperated. "Jin, you can trust me!"

"Maybe I could trust you to be nice again with me without bad intentions..." Seokjin began slowly.

"But?" Asked Taehyung who wanted to understand what was stopping Seokjin, being ready to do anything to remove this obstacle.

"...but Yoona won't be happy about that so I can't accepted your request, I'm sorry," Seokjin explained quickly before stuffing a large spoonful of rice into his mouth.

"What is Yoona doing in this story?" Taehyung asked dryly, impatiently waiting for Seokjin to finish what he had in his mouth to answer.

"Well, she hates me and if she hears me call you that, she won't be happy at and she'll get mad at me because she'll think we're friends again."

"We are friends again Jin, wasn't it clear to you yet?! Yoona will know whether you call me that or not."

"For real? I mean, we decided to be friends again yesterday but that was before you said you were coming to Whimoon when you know I don't want to. Have you changed your mind since then?" Seokjin wondered, making Namjoon laugh again and discreetly moving the lips, he said to him silently: nice shot Jinnie!

Seokjin tried not to smile so Taehyung wouldn't see their complicity. Having Namjoon around again made him feel more confident, it was a nice feeling.

"No, I haven't changed my mind," Taehyung shot back between clenched teeth, "it's because I'm your friend that I'm coming with you, not the opposite!"

"But Yoona-" Seokjin started.

"Stop with that ! I don't care what Yoona thinks!" Taehyung exclaimed, exasperated.

"Do you?" Namjoon quipped before dodging the chopstick his brother had just thrown at him, aiming for his face for once again intruding on his conversation with Seokjin.

"Taehyung," Seokjin said, shaking his head at this action but refusing to comment on it because he had something else in mind, "it's obvious you care what Yoona thinks, it's normal since she's your girlfriend. And she hates me so you can't ignore how she feels about me. I think I can understand. Maybe if I had been lucky enough to have a girlfriend, I would have taken her word more seriously than yours," he added dreamily.

"Don't expect me to let you have a girlfriend after hearing that."

Seokjin glared at him. Because of Taehyung, no girl had ever wanted to date him let alone become his girlfriend. Namjoon chuckled seeing Seokjin's sulky look.

"Believe me Jinnie, you haven't missed much by not having a girlfriend," Namjoon told him. "They are annoying. After seducing you, they quickly become boring, and they don't let you do what you want anymore, like hanging out with your friends, playing video games or playing sports."

"WHAT?!" Seokjin exclaimed. "So if I had had a girlfriend, she would have stopped me from playing football?!"

"Girls hate football more than anything. In fact, they are the worst enemy of those who love football. They hate to see boys sitting in front of the TV and watching a football game. They make them change the channel and put on a romantic movie instead."

"I didn't know that!" Seokjin exclaimed horrified, as he always held what Namjoon told him as absolute truth. He had always believed that girls looked up to athletes. Suddenly he was glad he didn't have a girlfriend, it seemed like hell to go through.

"Glad to let you know then."

Taehyung cast a suspicious glare at Namjoon, aware that his brother hadn't made this pitch to defend him in Seokjin's eyes. And yet, in an instant, Seokjin seemed not to blame Taehyung anymore for stopping him from having a girlfriend.

"Thank you, but how do you know all of this Joonie?" wondered Seokjin, who thought that Namjoon was like him and had never had a girlfriend. Had he learned all this from books?

"I told you that Namjoon was not who you thought," Taehyung said slyly.

"Have I ever brought home anyone who hates our cute Jinnie like the snake that serves as your girlfriend does?" Namjoon replied giving him a disgusted look.

Tired of always losing to his brother in every argument and seeing that Seokjin was particularly sensitive to everything Namjoon said, Taehyung gave up the fight against Namjoon after one last dark look and exclaimed:

"Jin!"

"Yes?" Seokjin said immediately coming out of his thinking about girls.

"Who do you think I prefer between Yoona and you?" Taehyung asked.

"Between Yoona and me?" Seokjin repeated, surprised by the question.

"Yeah, that's what I said. So?"

"Yoona," Seokjin said immediately, not needing to think to answer.

Upset, Taehyung met Namjoon's gaze despite himself, who, with an amused look, made him understand : What did you expect?

"You are wrong, Yoona is not my favorite between you two."

"Does that mean it's me?" wondered Seokjin who doubted it particularly because it was him that Taehyung had made suffer and not Yoona. "But Yoona is your-"

"Do you like her? Yoona?" Taehyung cut him.

"No," Seokjin said spontaneously.

"Jinnie, I think Taehyung is waiting for you to elaborate a bit on how you feel," Namjoon joked, knowing full well that his brother was not good at expressing how he felt. "If you have something to say about Yoona, now is the time."

"Oh, okay," Seokjin said, gazing into Taehyung's who didn't deny what Namjoon had just said. Then he let flow a stream of words that he had kept to himself for too long: "I don't like Yoona. How could I like her? She's the the first one who turned everyone against me, told me horrible thing and told everyone they couldn't be friends with me, even though she said it was because you wouldn't want them to be my friends. She took pleasure in hurting me. She promised to destroy me and to make me understand that my place was not with you in Gugbo. And also, she kept making fun of me and my mom just because she is a maid. And she always wanted you to look at her when she picked on me, as if she wanted to show you that she was the one who hurt me the most and that she was proud of it. Oh, and she always gives you new ideas to hurt me. I feel like I get an idea of what the devil looks like when I think of her. I hate her, she is really mean. Even more than you, I believe."

Namjoon was drinking when he giggled and spat all the water he had at Taehyung and making Seokjin laugh as well.

"Aaarkh, JERK!!" Taehyung shouted in disgust, while the other two laughed at him.

"Ah sorry but that's too funny," Namjoon told him after wiping his mouth. "You and Yoona are an awful couple, Mr. and Miss Devils, but I couldn't say who was the worst, Jinnie just answered the question I was wondering. We can say that you really know how to choose girls, little brother!" he said ironically.

"I didn't choose her, she was the one who wanted to go out with me and I did her the honor of accepting!" Taehyung defended himself. "there are plenty of others who would have liked to be in her place."

"I rather believe that you were flattered!" Namjoon said giggling, "Yoona is a very pretty girl after all and unlike you, she naturally knows how to attract people to her. She is as pretty as bad in fact! What do you think, Jinnie, do you think Yoona dated Taehyung because she loved him?"

Taehyung turned to Seokjin waiting for his answer, as if his word had the value of absolute truth unlike that of his brother who in his eyes sought nothing other than to harm him.

Reflecting and reminiscing about the day Seung left and then the two years spent in the same class as Taehyung and Yoona, Seokjin realized where Namjoon was coming from, even though he seemed to want him to be the one to make Taehyung realize this. Because if it was Namjoon telling Taehyung, Taehyung would ignore his warnings, it was obvious since they hated each other.

So Seokjin, shook his head and rather than answer Namjoon, he turned to Taehyung and said regretfully:

"I'm very sorry Taehyung, but I think Yoona doesn't like you she never said that she was in love with you, just that she was your girlfriend and that thanks to that, she could do whatever she wanted and convince you to agree with her. I believe she only wanted to be your girlfriend to show off to others because she likes to be the center of attention. I'm convinced now, of you two, she's the meaner one."

He had said that in all kindness but couldn't help but be honest from beginning to end. After all, he had been very good friends with Taehyung before middle school and before Taehyung met Yoona. Even though they had quarreled before, they had always made up but Yoona had taken his friend from him. She had brought out the worst that existed in Taehyung. That girl was no good for him. Now he even wondered if Yoona was the real responsible for Seung's departure. Had she persuaded Taehyung to do this?

He saw that Taehyung looked hurt by what he had just said and he hastened to add.

"I'm telling you this because you're my friend again and I don't want you to suffer heartache later if she abandons you just because she sees you being friends with me."

Namjoon grinned.

"That would be too sad, poor baby bear."

"Joonie, please, Tae is heartbroken, can not you see ? You are his brother so you have to support him and stop pretending you hate him," Seokjin chided him, gently stroking Taehyung's shoulder to show his emotional support.

Namjoon and Taehyung were surprised to hear him finally call Taehyung by his nickname. Something had changed, Seokjin was moved by the idea that Taehyung was suffering, and Taehyung jumped at the chance.

"Namjoon doesn't care about me at all and I absolutely don't need him anyway," Taehyung said dryly, "I need someone who genuinely cares about me. I need you, Jin!"

Namjoon hissed impressed.

"What a change in situation! You're not as dumb as I thought you were, you just went up a little in my esteem."

Seokjin, who didn't really understand why Namjoon was saying that but had in mind his discussion the day before with Taehyung about the stupidest of them both, hastened to intervene:

"But he's still dumber than me, isn't he Joonie?"
