Riley's POV

I woke up in a daze, everything blurry before realizing where my head was resting. But I didn't want to move, especially when I could feel Val staying still so she wouldn't disturb me. She can be really cute sometimes.

I decided to stay there for most of the movie. It was comfy too, but I could hear the giggles of Bree and Grace. I wasn't sure if they were giggling at me, but I didn't care much. I was too comfortable to move.

As the movie came to an end, I felt Val poke me and shake me lightly.

"Riley? You awake?" she whispered.

I stretched and lifted my head off her shoulder. "Yeah..." My voice got caught in my throat.

"Nice sleep?" she chuckled, sending shivers down my spine.

"Sorry about falling asleep on you."

"It's fine. I didn't really mind." I saw her shrug.

"Wait, what's the time??" I panicked, sitting up straight and trying to find my phone.

Val grabbed hers instead. "It's... 1am," she muttered, yawning.

"We need to get back," I said, rubbing my eyes and shaking Bree and Grace, who were also sleepy.

We all rushed to catch a late bus. It was a bit cramped, and I stood next to Val. As the bus went over a bump, I slipped and fell right onto her. Luckily, she caught me.

"Be careful," she said. Instead of me holding on to the rail, she held me the entire journey, keeping me safe.

What was this feeling?

We all arrived back on campus and headed to our separate dorms. Val and I walked Bree and Grace back to theirs first. Despite our dorms being on opposite sides of campus, Val insisted on walking me back to mine.

"Sure you don't wanna stay?" I asked again. I'd repeated this a dozen times by now.

She chuckled. "I'm sure. I have my stuff in my dorm for hockey tomorrow anyway."

"Ohh, right... well, goodnight. I really enjoyed today," I said with a tired but genuine smile.

"Me too." She leaned closer and gave me a kiss on the cheek, then waved goodbye as she left.

I opened the door to my dorm and instantly freaked out, turning red and squealing quietly into my pillow. Today had been perfect, and Val's kiss on the cheek was the cherry on top. I couldn't wait for tomorrow.. actually, I was dreading it because of school.

I shortly drifted to sleep, not realising I forgot to set my alarms.
