Ch23 The Last Day of Operation Druz

I wiped the sweat from my forehead 100th time today as I worked with my fellow students in setting up the ultimate, amazing bonfire on the last night of the camp.

"Hey Peter, can you put these cooldrinks there?" asked Luke as he saw me free for a single second, I sighed dramatically but started lifting them.

It took hours to set everything up, even with Mr. Davis and Miss Wilson helping us and Mr. Cruz thankfully not helping. Mr. Cruz almost looked innocent sitting in the corner, as innocent as his buff body and piercing gaze allowed him.

Mr. Cruz's smile of the day was when he started eating and Mr. Davis looked up at him asking how Mr. Cruz liked the dish he prepared. Of course, Mr. Cruz being whipped, smiled at him telling him how it was the best dish in the entire universe.

The smile he received after making that comment was soo bright and happy that even I would have said that, but I don't think he'll react like that to me. I have a feeling that me saying that would look creepy.

Finally, after a lot of chatter and most of the food gone from the plates, Miss Wilson stood up with the game options prepared by us. Obviously, we talked to Miss Wilson about our plan to end this trip with some much-needed happy, accident-free bonfire night. Fortunately agreed excitedly, even going as far as to provide the internet to search for all types of games we can play.

We kept the classic games and picked out a few quirky ones too, and the most important part we kept the vote system. Whichever game gets the most votes will be played first.

"So now that you all have something in your stomachs, let's have some fun shall we?" she said like an announcer.

"What fun are we talking about?" asked Mr. Brown bored from a corner. He is always there at bonfires and mealtimes but never when anyone needs him.

"A lot of fun!!! I have a few game options, you all can vote what you want to play first," said Miss Wilson picking her cards.

"Okay first, fortunately Unfortunately OR twenty questions guess game?"

"What's that?" asked Mr. Cruz loud enough to be heard over excited discussions of the students who obviously know all the games.

"Fortunately unfortunately is a series game where everyone has to say a sentence with fortunately or unfortunately in the beginning. And twenty question one is where you guess the object other is trying to tell by asking questions." Miss Wilson explained patiently but Mr. Brown fell asleep in the middle of her explanation.

"Okay hands up for Fortunately, Unfortunately!!" most of the students raised their hands including five of us.

"Okay, good good. Now for Twenty questions, raise your hands!!" Fewer hands were raised but the excitement in the air remained the same.

"Okay now let's move from right to left and your started sentence is....." Miss Wilson said creating suspense. "It's a bonfire night. Go go Jack your turn."

"Unfortunately we are out of wood."

"Fortunately we are in the forest."

"Unfortunately it rained."

"Fortunately we have tents."

"Unfortunately we can't sleep in them."

"Fortunately we can play games all night."

"Unfortunately games are hosted by an old woman," said Mr. Cruz since it was his turn, students laughed as Mr. Davis elbowed him to keep

quite.

"Fortunately she is also a wonderful woman," said Mr. Davis giving Miss Wilson a smile who smiled back.

"Unfortunately everyone is

tired," said Noah who was sitting next to Mr. Davis.

"Fortunately they have energy drinks," said Nathan who was beside Noah.

"Unfortunately energy drinks are bad for health," said Luke giving Nathan a stink eye.

"Fortunately we don't care about it," said Ben earning a glare from Luke and a laugh from everyone.

"Unfortunately the drinks have expired," I said ending the banter.

"Fortunately umm... " struggled Jackson who was sitting beside me.

"Time end!! You lost!!!" shouted Miss Wilson excitedly. Everyone started shouting complaints to Jackson at once, jokingly accusing him of ending the game. He laughed loudly, then getting up he bowed dramatically bursting in speech of how sorry he was.

The game continued with new sentences and unexpectedly, hilarious sentences from Mr. Cruz rolled out one after another making everyone laugh, Ben even fell off his chair laughing.

"Okay, now some people, anonymous people have voted for a game they want Mr. Cruz to play. Any guesses what," asked Miss Wilson thankfully keeping our names anonymous.

"I am not playing any children's game." Mr. Cruz said making a big cross with his hands. But Mr. Davis pushed him off the chair making him fall. He erupted in laughter watching Mr. Cruz look shocked to the core. Everyone snickered behind their hands since they didn't want to die.

Miss Wilson pulled him up and dragged him into the center, "Okay so whoever makes him laugh will be the *MVP of today's bonfire.* People looked at one another as if asking who would even dare to try but Mr. Davis was already on his feet walking up to him.

He stood at the back and said, "I'll let you all try first since I know how to make him laugh."

I smiled cheekily at Nathan, who just rolled his eyes. Mr. Davis started pulling students from their seats and they awkwardly just stood not knowing what to do.

But Mr. Davis did not stop there, to our shock he pulled Nathan and Ben and threw them in the general direction of Mr. Cruz. They landed on their butts with stunned expressions. Ben pulled himself together and started imitating a chicken, and Nathan followed him and started making noises like a rooster.

I dropped my head in my lap, there goes our reputation. But to my amazement. I could see a ghost of a smile on Mr, Cruz's face before he schooled his expressions back to the heartless beast. Guess he isn't that much of a heartless after all.

As students backed down, running for their lives away from Mr. Cruz, Mr. Davis walked up to him and whispered something in his ear, next thing we knew, both Mr. Cruz and Mr, Davis were laughing their asses off.

So is this the power of love? Damn, I never felt this single in my entire life.

I looked around as everyone laughed along with them, and Mr. Davis nearly fell down laughing. If only this night could end like this, laughing and having fun, I thought.

If only I knew what was about to happen.
