The Curse is Lifted

Third Person P.O.V.

On the Dauntless, the fighting had stopped. The pirates looked at each other and at themselves. No longer seeing bones, only skin. All was silent as the pirates looked at the soldiers and vice versa. Twigg was about to attack Norrington but saw blood on the blade of his sword.

The pirates looked up at the moon. Realizing the curse has been lifted. They've waited so long to become mortal, but now they can't win against the soldiers, knowing they could now die. Soon the pirates dropped their weapons. Surrendering, knowing they had lost.

"The ship is ours, gentleman," Norrington announced.

All the soldiers began to cheer, pumping an arm in the air to celebrate their victory.

After Barbossa fell dead, and Jack was looking for treasure to take, Elizabeth went to Arabella.

Arabella's P.O.V.

"Are you alright?" Elizabeth asked me.

I nodded.

She hugged me and I returned the embrace.

"I thought he shot you," she said, pulling back to look at me. "Don't ever do that again."

I laughed and nodded. I left Elizabeth, now standing alone, to talk to my brother. I soon found him looking through some of the treasure.

"So you stole a medallion, just so you could kill Barbossa?" I asked.

He looked at me, nodded and continued to look through the treasure.

"Where are you gonna go after this?" I asked.

"Don't know," he said.

There was a moment of silence as Jack continued to rifle through the gold and silver, tossing what he doesn't want over his shoulder.

"If you want," Jack said breaking the silence. "You can join me on the Pearl, sail the ocean."

"You mean," I began, smiling. "Become a pirate?"

"Pirate is in your blood," Jack told me.

"What do you mean?" I asked, confused.

"Dad's a pirate," he said.

I stared at him with wide eyes. He walked away with a crown on his head, a golden goblet in one hand, and other sorts of valuable items. After a moment, I followed. I saw Jack walking up to Will, after Elizabeth walked away.

"If you were waiting for the opportune moment," Jack said to Will, then pointed in the direction Elizabeth went. "That was it. If you'd be so kind, I'd be much obliged if you'd drop me off at my ship."

Jack walked away and to the longboat to depart. I walked up to Will and put my hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry, Will," I told him. "I know she fancies you."

He looked at me, and I gave him a small smile. Then we both walked to the longboat and got in.

Will had both oars, Jack sat behind him, and Lizzie and I sat in front of Will.

"I'm sorry Jack," I said to my brother.

He was hoping that he would once again captain the Pearl, but his crew sailed away on it.

"They done what's right by them," he replied in a dull voice. "Can't expect more than that."

When we returned to the Dauntless, we saw the soldiers leading the once cursed pirates to the brig. Murtogg and Mullory came over, and led Jack to the stairs leading to the brig. I made a move to stop them, but Will put a hand on my shoulder. I looked at him and he shook his head, silently telling me that it's no use. So I stood there, quietly watching them take my brother away.

Lt. Gillette escorted us to the cabin, where Governor Swann and Commodore Norrington were standing by the table. Governor Swann got on to Elizabeth and I for sneaking off the ship, and to the cave. The governor and Norrington considered Will's crimes to engage in piracy but saw the reasoning behind it. He was granted clemency and the matter was closed.

*A week later*

When we docked at Port Royal, the pirates and my brother were taken to the fort. A carriage was there to take the governor, Elizabeth and I to the mansion. I said goodbye to Will, and got in the carriage. It was silent all the way to the mansion.

"When will my brother hang, Governor?" I asked, curious.

"In two days," he said, with little sympathy.

After we arrived at the mansion, Elizabeth and I were escorted by two maids each to clean up. A few hours later, we were silently eating in the dining room. No one spoke at all, only thinking of what will happen in two days.

Once I was finished, I asked the governor to visit my brother before his hanging. He said I could. When the carriage was ready, I didn't hesitate to get in. Soon, the carriage arrived at the fort and Norrington approached me.

"Miss Sparrow," he greeted, nodding his head.

"I came to visit my brother," I answered his unspoken question. "Before he hangs."

He nodded.

"This way," he said, gesturing with his arm.

Before we saw the end of the stairs, he asked me a question.

"Do you want a soldier nearby?"

I shook my head.

"No," I said, anxious to see my brother. "He won't hurt me."

He seemed unsure, but nodded. Eventually, we made it to the hall with the holding cells.

"Last cell," Norrington told me, pointing to the left.

"Thank you."

He nodded and left.

I walked down the hall, ignoring the looks from the pirates as I walked by. When I reached the last cell, I saw him lying on the floor, looking relaxed.

"Jack," I called.

He looked up.

"What are you doing here?" He asked.

"I wanted to see you," I said. "You're my brother."

He stood up and came to the bars.

"I thought you would be angry at me for leaving."

"I was, but I'm happier to see you again," I told, with a small smile.

He smiled, too.

"You don't happen to know when they'll hang me, do you?" He asked.

"In two days," I answered, my smile vanishing. "Do you have a plan to escape?"

"It probably won't work," he said. "Too many guards."

"What if I helped?" I whispered, not wanting a soldier to hear.

He shook his head.

"No, you would get caught," he said, his voice firm. "I won't allow it."

"Well, I don't want to see you hang," I said, fully serious. "We can come up with a plan."

"Soldiers are guarding the fort, so escaping at night isn't a good idea," he said. "It's best to not try."

I stared at him dumbfounded. I wasn't going to let them hang my brother. I just need more help. Elizabeth might help, but if the governor heard what we were planning, he would stop us.

"Even if I-"

"We," I interrupted.

"Even if we came up with a plan, we would be out numbered, and you would be charged for helping a pirate escape."

"Not unless it worked," I told him.

He shook his head, being the big brother he is.

"I'm going to help you escape Jack," I told him, determined. "I promise."

Before he could say another word, I quickly left. Once I got back to the carriage, I told the driver to go to Smithy's. After arriving, I went in to talk with Will. I can only hope he would help.

"Arabella, what are doing here?"

I turned to see Will standing by the fire place, putting coals in it.

"I need help," I replied, walking towards him. "They're hanging Jack in two days, and I need help coming up with a plan."

"To help him escape?" He asked.

I nodded.

"You helped him escape last time to rescue me and Elizabeth," I began. "Can you do it again?"

He thought for a second, and answered.

"I'll help," he said.

I smiled.

We started to plan the escape. He also taught me the basics of sword fighting. In case there's a fight, I need to be ready. Any free time we had, we spent it planning and sword fighting. Within a day and a half, we were ready.
