The Beginning (Edited)

Percy knew he wasn't a normal boy at a young age. He could recall many crazy memories, and his mother would also tell him stories. Finally, Smell Gabe's favorite thing to refer to him as was freak. He knew for sure right now he wasn't normal as he and his mother were being chased by a massive dog down Manhattan streets. It was the size of a truck with shaggy black fur and glowing red eyes that were filled with blood lust. Percy had a sinking feeling that it wanted him not his mom.

They ran many blocks but fatigue started to set in. Sally in a last-ditch effort to lose the hound turned into an ally. She realized her mistake when she noticed the ally was a dead end. She cursed her luck and took out a small dagger that Percy's father gave her to protect herself. She stood tall and Percy hid behind a nearby dumpster. Sally kissed Percy's forehead and whispered, "I'm sorry my brave boy. Stay hidden and don't make a sound." Percy nodded as he looked into his mother's eyes. He was too afraid to make a sound.

The hound came bounding into the ally and stopped when it noticed the dagger. The hound pulled its lips back and have a bone-chilling growl. It stalked around Sally, weary of the soft glow of the dagger. It sized Sally up before emitting another growl. It then lounged at Sally. Sally stood her ground and swung the dagger hitting the hound in the eye. It jumped back and howled in pain. It's large paw rubbing the wound. It backed away from Sally reevaluating her. Her breathing was rugged, and she dared not to speak. Without warning the hellhound rushed Sally and swiped at her again. This time the paw connected, Sally was sent flying into the wall. Sally cried out and slid to the ground. Where the paw had connected on her chest were long claw marks. The wounds were deep and she was losing a lot of blood fast.

"Mom!" Percy screamed and ran to his mother while the hound was distracted by a smell. Sally looked at her son and smiled and said, " I love you, Percy, make me proud." Sally then stood again and glared at the overgrown dog. "Y-you can't have him!" Sally yelled. She charged the hound, catching it off guard. She stabbed it in the chest. The hound yelped and burst into golden dust.

Sally sank to the ground. She had lost too much blood. Sally felt herself dying. "P-Percy, my baby, I-I-" Sally faded before she could finish what she was saying. "mommy?" Percy cried as he started to shake his mother's body. "Mommy! Don't go to sleep mommy!" Percy wailed out still trying to wake her up. Percy started to scream; anger replacing the sadness. The clouds darkened and an intense pain pulled in Percy's stomach. Soon a raging storm was brewing over all of New York.

Percy was growing tired and now he felt dizzy like he was about to pass out. He fell over onto his mother's now cold body. He shivered as the cold rain splashed on his skin. His eyes started to grow heavy. He sniffed and clung to his mother. That was when he heard footsteps. Soon a voice accompanied the footfalls. Percy forced his head to move upward as his eyes struggled to focus on the world. Slowly he looked up to see a girl standing over him. She was wearing all silver, and Percy noticed she also had a now and a quiver of arrows on her back. She had long auburn hair and silver eyes that reflected the moon. In honesty to Percy, she was very pretty. "Wh-who are you?" Percy asked quietly curling up tighter around his mother. The lady didn't answer only moved around Percy and bent down in front of Sally's body. Percy flinched and tried to block the older girl from the body. The girl just clicked her tongue in disdain before she shoved Percy out of her way, and checked Sally's pulse. Only to find that there was none. She looked over at Percy with hate and a little pitty. "What's your name boy?" The girl growled; the way she said boy sounded like an insult.

Percy said nothing, only looking at the woman before shivering one more time then promptly passing out.

Artemis was walking through Manhattan tracking rouge Hellhound. Artemis was about to head back the way she came when she heard some commotion not too far away. After a few minutes, she tracked the source of the noise to an ally. As Artemis got closer she saw a figure on the ground. She first noticed the boy. She was going to leave as rain suddenly started to fall from the sky. She looked up at the clouds and had a feeling this was not her father's doing. She walked slightly closer and seen the boy was curled around a woman. Artemis quickly walked towards the duo. She crouched in front of the woman's body and simply shoved the boy away as he tried to stop her. She started to take the woman's pulse, She lost hope immediately as her fingers brushed the woman's cold, pale neck; nothing as Artemis expected. She sighed and stood up, another great woman was taken from this world.

That was when Artemis remembered the boy. She scrutinized him. He was small for his age and skinny. He had raven black hair and sea-green eyes. He reminded her of her uncle. "What is your name boy," Artemis asked with hate but sympathy and pity were also clear in her tone.

The boy brought his eyes up slowly to look her in the eyes before his body went limp. Artemis had a decision to make would she leave the boy here to die or would she take him to her camp and heal him. After much contemplation, Artemis sighed in defeat her decision made.
