Leaving Home

Sorry for the delay again! I was stuck between whether to finish the story or use the chapter for the Sequel I am rewriting. In the end I decided to end the story here, since the main plot has been done, this part was just the like, aftermath sort of.

So this chapter is all in Claire's Point of View which I understand may get a bit boring but I hope I made it good enough that it doesn't get boring (also I finally finished this chapter at 02:11 in the morning). I was going to do Amelie's Point of View but I couldn't figure out what to write. It was there... just couldn't write it down, you know?

Anyway, feel free to skip this very long Authors Note and get to the story. I hope you have enjoyed it! It didn't get nearly as much as the first story but at least it got reviews!

Read and Review!

Claire's Point of View

I can't believe Myrnin just blurted it out. I sighed and walked down the street, after leaving Myrnin's lab. Maybe it was just a dream? Then I would have made Amelie's life much more complicated.

I didn't feel like taking a shortcut and Amelie probably didn't want me there anyway.

My phone rang. I felt a sinking feeling as I saw the caller ID.

"Hello?"

"Claire, where are you?" Amelie asked. I looked around; I hadn't taken note of my surroundings.

"Outside Common Grounds."

"Stay there. I'm coming to get you." Then she hung up. I leaned against the coffee shop wall and looked around the street. Deserted, as it was night time, I noticed a few vampires around and one dead person.

It was a few minutes before Amelie's car pulled up to the curb and the guard got out and opened the door.

I reluctantly got in and sat down on the C shaped car seats. I didn't look up, as the guard closed the door and drove back to Amelie's house.

"Look at me." Amelie said. I looked up. I didn't see any emotion on her face. "You wanted to keep this secret, yet you tell Myrnin. Why?"

I sighed. "I don't know. Because he said he can keep a secret?"

"Myrnin is known for his terrible ability to keep secrets. Though he is good at keeping his own. You don't see him talking about his past, often."

"Yeah, guess not. Was it a dream? I just want to know..." I asked, looking to the floor again.

"Yes." She said. "It must have been."

"Great, so I just embarrassed myself. Now rumours will be going around about me." I crossed my arms.

"I can make them stop. You'll see." Amelie said.

A thought came to me, that suddenly filled me with dread. "Can I still live at your house?"

Amelie sighed. "Alright. Just don't go around pestering me with these questions."

I nodded. "Do you... Do still love me?" I asked quietly.

"What do you think?" Amelie asked.

"Maybe. I don't know." I shrugged.

"Well, I will let you decide. It can't have all been a dream."

The car turned a few times then pulled into the driveway and stopped. The guards opened the door and we got out, of course Amelie first, then myself.

**********

Later, I was in my bedroom reading through a study book on the physics on protons and electrons, when I heard voices downstairs. I paused flicking the page and got up and went to the door listening.

"Do you really think you can keep this up?" Myrnin asked.

"Yes. If she thinks it's a dream she won't keep pestering me. I know how it's like with young people." I stood back, surprised. Myrnin and Amelie were talking about me?

"I think she already feels uncomfortable enough with the relationship with you, so I don't think she would kiss you every five seconds." Myrnin said.

"I only did that so she wouldn't be confused. The feeling was there, she was just denying it."

"Like you are now. Just say it wasn't a dream." Myrnin said. I heard footsteps which meant one of them is moving around.

"You're not psychic, Myrnin. You don't know what she will say or do."

"Well, if it does go pear shaped - which I have no idea where young people got that expression - you can always compel her to forget. Doesn't it work on vampires as well as humans?" Myrnin asked.

"Just leave, Myrnin. You have spent enough time here." Amelie said. I heard a sigh, then doors being opened and closed, then silence.

I knew it! It wasn't a dream! Why was Amelie trying to pretend it never happened? Was she afraid I would tell someone else?

I sighed and silently went downstairs and paused at the door. What would I say? Never mind, just go in and say what comes into your head first.

I opened the door and Amelie was giving her personal assistant lots of papers and folders to put away.

"Claire. Nice to see you." She said, without looking up.

"Uh, yeah you too. Can I uh, talk to you in private?" I asked. Amelie looked up then glanced at the personal assistant.

"Valerie, you can continue this later. Step outside." She said. The maid nodded then walked out. "What is it?"

"I heard you. You and Myrnin. You did kiss me. Why we're you lying?" I asked.

"I don't know what your talking about." She said. I was silent silent for a moment then frustration rose.

"You did! I heard you!"

"Who's going to believe you?" Amelie asked, making a pile of papers neat.

"No-one! Is that what you're afraid of? That I will tell someone?" I asked.

"I'm not afraid of anything. I just don't want you to make a fool out of yourself. If you want to tell the whole town, I won't stop you. I will just rightfully deny everything and they will take me at my word, because it would be a very bad idea to imply that I am lying."

"I'm not going to tell the town. It just slipped out when I was telling Myrnin, and it wasn't a dream. I clearly remember-"

"Claire, sometimes dreams are so vivid they seem real. If you cannot tell the difference between dreams and reality, then I worry for you." Amelie said, standing up and putting a book back on the bookshelf. I took a breath to control the growing frustration. Why won't she just tell me it happened?

"I can tell the difference. I was confused on whether I still loved Shane or not then you kissed me and I knew. That happened. If your not shy about saying that you love me, why would you be shy about that?" I asked.

"Claire quiet now. It didn't happen. Now, I have more pressing things to get done. Why don't you go and bother Myrnin about your dream?"

"It wasn't a dream, I knew-" Suddenly I was thrown against the wall and held there by my neck.

"I said quiet now. I don't want to hear anymore of this." Amelie said, quietly though her eyes had flickers of red in them.

"You don't want to hear it, because it's true." I managed to get out, while unsuccessful in trying to get Amelie hand off my throat. At least she cared enough not to break my neck.

"It's a dream, Claire. Dreams aren't real."

"Why don't you make it real?" It took a second to realise what I had said, and I was really glad at that moment, that vampires couldn't blush or I would be as red as a tomato.

Amelie realized what I said too. I thought she would actually kiss me, but she just let go and walked back to her desk. I collapsed to the floor, gasping a little even though I didn't need any air. That hurt.

"If you insist on pestering me on this subject, how about you go and live with Myrnin and pester him? I'm sure he would love the company." Amelie said, sounding monotone. I sighed, got up and rubbed my neck.

"Don't worry, I won't." I said, and walked out of the room.

In my room, I got the bag I had first put my clothes and stuff in, down from the top of wardrobe which was not easy, since the wardrobe is like 2 times taller than me. I had to stand on my bed and when that didn't work I got a chair from the next room and stood on that.

I started packing my clothes and anything I thought I might need. I couldn't live here with Amelie denying what she had done, going as far as choking me to keep me quiet.

The door to the bedroom knocked then opened. Amelie glanced at the bag then me.

"Where are you going?" She asked.

"You won't admit to it, and I won't stop talking about it. So... I'm going to go and live with Myrnin." I said.

"I won't admit it, because it didn't happen."

"You keep saying that, maybe you will convince yourself. But it did happen and you can't do anything about it."

"Your staying here." Amelie said. "Your convincing yourself it happened and you're making a big deal out of it."

"Founder-" the guard began.

"Not now. Wait downstairs." Amelie said, just shy of snapping. The guard nodded and left.

"You can't tell me what to do. I'm not going to the Glass House so you should at least be happy about that. I know dreams. I've had them but I can never remember them fully. This happened. Deny it all you like, I'm leaving. I'll come back once you figure that out." I said, turning back and putting some t-shirts in the bag. I was hoping Amelie would plead with me to stay, but that seemed below her.

Instead, she emptied my drawers and put the clothes in the bag. "Well, I hope you have fun there." She said, closing and sipping the bag shut and handing it me. "Just make sure you wear a coat and gloves when you go out. We wouldn't want you burnt to a crisp now, would we?" She asked then left the room.

She's putting on a mask. She doesn't want this to happen, go after her! I picked up my phone and went out the door and past Amelie talking to her guard. I did consider it for a second, but I didn't want to make a bigger fuss, than I had already created.

Amelie turned around. "Take Claire to Myrnin's." Then she went into the living room. The guard nodded and took me outside to the garage, putting a coat on me and opening the door. I got in and waited while the guard got in and started up the car then drove the short distance to Myrnin's lab.

When we got there, Myrnin was already waiting. He looked really happy, I was his first choice to come and stay with him. I wasn't going to stay with Oliver, though was I? He would much rather see me dead.

"Claire l have been waiting for you! You shall like it here and now you have no excuse to be late. Come, come!" He dragged me inside after my bag and been handed to me then I heard the car drive away. "I have given you a list that you must do everyday so you can't complain you are bored. When you have done them 200 times, then I shall mix it up a bit." He said handing me the note.

"Why?"

"To give your life purpose. You will be here for a while so you might as well get settled." Myrnin shrugged.

"I won't be." I said with strange confidence.

"You will, trust me. Amelie can be awfully stubborn when she wants to be. If she doesn't want you to know something, then you won't." He said. I stared at him for a moment.

"Like the fact she kissed me? I heard you, Myrnin. She admitted it to you."

"Well, unless Amelie says it herself, there's not much you can do about it." Myrnin said, already bored with the conversation. He walked over to a part of the lab where he kept his pet.

"Where am I sleeping?" I asked.

"The bedroom."

I walked to the bedroom and pushed open the door. The sheets smelled fresh and when I sat down, the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever sat on. But soon the situation and the unwanted emotions came back and I put my head my hands.

Amelie will come around. She has to.

So the last part may have been slightly rushed and rambly but ahem, it was finished sometime at 2AM so I apologize.

The next story I shall be re-writing is A Depressing Day. I hope you shall like that :)

Hope you enjoyed the story and please review!
