Chapter 2: The beginning

Sarah Enderson walked briskly down the bustling streets of Draminia, her thoughts racing as she made her way to the university. The morning sun cast a golden glow on the modern skyline, a sharp contrast to the ancient secrets hidden within the city's history.

Today was the day of the power ceremony, a tradition among the three powerful families: Enderson, Arden, and Will. Sarah, however, had always felt like an outsider within her own family. While her relatives boasted unique abilities, Sarah had never shown any signs of having one herself-until recently.

As she approached the large campus gates, she spotted her best friend Zack leaning against a tree, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. Zack, with his easygoing nature and healing abilities, had been Sarah's confidant since childhood. He knew all her secrets, except for one-the strange occurrences she had been experiencing lately."Hey, Sarah! Ready for the big day?" Zack called out, pushing off the tree to join her.

Sarah forced a smile. "As ready as I'll ever be. Are you going to the ceremony later?""Of course! Wouldn't miss it for the world," Zack replied, his eyes twinkling with excitement. "I heard it's going to be at the Arden family house this year.""Yeah," Sarah nodded, her mind drifting to Ian Arden, the enigmatic son of the second most powerful family.

She had seen him around campus but never had the courage to talk to him. "I'm curious to see how it turns out."As they walked together, Zack couldn't help but notice the worry etched on Sarah's face. "You okay, Sarah? You've been acting a bit strange lately."Sarah sighed, deciding to confide in him. "Zack, I need to tell you something. Lately, I've been experiencing... things. Strange things. It's like I can see glimpses of the future, and sometimes, I feel like time just stops around me."Zack's eyes widened in surprise. "Whoa, that's intense! Have you told anyone else?""No, just you. I don't know what to do. What if it's dangerous?" Sarah admitted, her voice tinged with fear.

Zack placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We'll figure it out together, okay? You're not alone in this."Feeling slightly reassured, Sarah continued to class, her mind still reeling from the implications of her newfound abilities. She couldn't shake the feeling that today's ceremony would change everything.

Later that evening, Sarah stood in front of the grand Arden mansion, its imposing structure illuminated by the soft glow of lanterns. The air buzzed with anticipation as members of the three families gathered for the ceremony. Sarah felt a knot of anxiety tighten in her stomach as she looked around, searching for familiar faces. She spotted Ian Arden, looking effortlessly elegant in his formal attire. His presence exuded confidence, and for a moment, their eyes met. Sarah quickly looked away, feeling a blush creep up her cheeks.

The ceremony began with a series of formalities, each family showcasing their unique powers. Evelyn Arden demonstrated her teleportation skills, wowing the audience with her precision.

Nick, with his healing abilities, mesmerized everyone with his gentle touch that mended wounds in an instant. Kelly Will, with her power of curse, intrigued and unsettled the crowd. Finally, it was Sarah's turn. She stepped forward, her heart pounding in her chest.
As she stood in the center of the gathering, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, focusing on the strange energy she had been feeling.

Suddenly, the world around her seemed to slow down. Time itself appeared to bend to her will, and she could see the astonished faces of those around her frozen in place. When she opened her eyes, a collective gasp echoed through the crowd."She has the power of time manipulation!" someone exclaimed.

Sarah looked around, bewildered by what she had just done. Her eyes locked onto Ian's, who was watching her with a mixture of awe and curiosity. The realization of her power dawned on her, and she knew that her life was about to change in ways she could never have imagined.

As the ceremony concluded, Sarah felt a sense of determination welling up inside her. She needed to understand her power, control it, and most importantly, figure out why she had it. Little did she know, her journey was just beginning, and the secrets she would uncover would shape the fate of Draminia and its people.

Back in her room that night, Sarah couldn't sleep. The events of the day replayed in her mind like a broken record. She picked up her phone and dialed Zack's number, needing to hear his reassuring voice."Hey, Zack. Can we talk?" she whispered, her voice trembling."Of course, Sarah. I'm here for you," Zack replied, his tone filled with concern. As she confided in him, Sarah felt a glimmer of hope. With Zack by her side, she knew she could face whatever challenges lay ahead. Together, they would unravel the mysteries of her power and protect the ones they loved. And maybe, just maybe, she would find the strength to embrace her destiny.

After the call ended, Sarah's hand trembled as she reached for the door. She needed fresh air, some space to clear her head. As she stepped outside, a strange sensation washed over her. Her vision blurred, and the hallway around her seemed to warp and shift.

The Enderson family returned home from the ceremony, the atmosphere heavy with the implications of Sarah's newfound abilities. As they walked into their spacious living room, Tanya, Sarah's mother, watched her daughter closely."Sarah, are you okay?" Tanya asked, concern etched on her face.

Sarah forced a smile. "I'm fine, Mom. Just tired."Tanya nodded, but her worry remained evident. "If you need to talk, I'm here for you.""I know. Thanks, Mom," Sarah replied, giving her mother a quick hug before heading to her room.

Back in her room, Sarah couldn't shake the feeling of unease. She sat on the edge of her bed, her mind replaying the events of the ceremony. Her hand trembled as she stood up and reached for the door, needing to clear her head. As she stepped outside, a strange sensation washed over her.

Her vision blurred, and the hallway around her seemed to warp and shift.Suddenly, she was no longer in her room. She stood once again at the Arden mansion, but everything was different. The colors were gone, replaced by shades of black and white. The world was eerily silent, and the once lively ceremony was frozen in time.

Sarah's heart raced as she looked around, recognizing the scene from earlier that evening. It was the power ceremony, but now she was a ghostly observer in this monochrome version of the past."What is happening to me?" she whispered, fear gripping her as she tried to make sense of this surreal experience.
She moved through the frozen crowd, her steps soundless on the ground. She saw herself on stage, the moment of her awakening power replaying in front of her eyes. The expressions of awe and surprise on the faces of her family and friends were now eerily still.

As she reached out to touch her past self, a sudden jolt of energy surged through her. She was pulled back into her present reality, stumbling back into her room, gasping for breath.

Her mind reeled from the experience. She had traveled back in time, seen the world in black and white, and witnessed her own moment of awakening from an outside perspective."What does this mean?" she wondered aloud, her voice trembling.

The questions swirled in her mind, but one thing was clear: her journey had only just begun, and the answers she sought would take her deeper into the mysteries of time and her own extraordinary abilities.
