Chapter 7- The Coronation

Chapter 7

"Come on, Ellie! We're going to be late!" My new friend, Alice from Cair Paravel said.

"Can you please help me?" I asked trying to tie the back of my coronation dress. It was pink on the sleeves, bodice and part of the skirt and then white in the front. Alice came over and tied that back tightly, "Are you trying to strangle me?" I asked between breaths.

"This is how tight it's normally supposed to be," she answered.

"Never mind that, we have to go," I said throwing on my maroon cape and ran down the hallways of the palace. Today was the Pevensie's Coronation Day, the battle was a little over a month ago and since then Peter and I had gotten very close.

"No turn here!" Alice called and I turned around going down the opposite hallway, "That's it," She pointed to the door.

I opened it slowly and Mr. Tumnus and the beavers were standing on the other side.

"What took so long?" He asked as the trumpets blared and I shushed him.

He handed the beavers two blue pillows that had the crowns on them. Aslan and the Pevensie's walked down the aisle and each stood at their throne. Mr. Tumnus and I walked forward and went up to Lucy. He took the silver tiara off one of the pillows and placed it on Lucy's head.

"To the glistening eastern sea, I give you Queen Lucy the Valiant," Aslan announced.

Mrs. Beaver and I walked over to Edmund and I took the silver crown placing it on his head.

"To the great western woods, King Edmund the Just," Aslan said.

Mr. Tumnus and Beaver went to Susan placing a yellow tiara on her head, "To the radiant southern sun, Queen Susan the Gentle."

I walked up to Peter and he smiled at me. I took the golden crown and he knelt down and I placed it on his head.

"And to the clear northern skies, King Peter the Magnificent."

Mr. Tumnus, the beavers and I walked to the side as Aslan announced, "Once a King or Queen of Narnia, always a king or queen."

"Long live King Peter! Long live Queen Susan! Long Live King Edmund! And long live Queen Lucy!"

Once they left, the crowd followed to the banquet hall for the Coronation Ball. I saw Aslan slip through one of the side doors so I went after him.

"Aslan," I called.

"Yes, my child?" He asked turning to me.

"I want to know, the White Witch said something about my father..." I told him trailing off.

"Walk with me," Aslan said as we walked out of the palace and onto the beach, "I want you to know that you have been forgiven of you mistakes since I've noticed you are doubting yourself."

"I just feel bad for all the things I've done to Mr. Tumnus and I should have joined you once I knew I wasn't in the right place," I explained.

"You are very wise for your age, Eleanor," he told me, "And I'm sure you'll make a great queen one day." Aslan stopped in the sand, "That's why I shall name you, Princess Eleanor the Wise." Suddenly I felt something on my head, it was a tiara. I looked at my dress that was now blue, "Blue is the color of royals which you shall be."

"Thank you, Aslan!" I said leaning over and hugging him.

"Go be with them," Aslan nodded towards Cair Paravel where I saw Lucy on the balcony.

I turned to look back at Aslan and he was gone. I went back into the palace where I found Peter roaming the hallways.

"Oh there you are, I was looking for you," he smiled then looked at the tiara on my head, "What's that?"

"I am now Princess Eleanor the Wise," I laughed.

"Really? That's amazing," Peter said hugging me and lifting me off the ground, "Come, let's celebrate."

Peter grabbed my hand and led me to the banquet sitting beside him at the table.

"I like your tiara," Lucy said.

"She's now Princess Eleanor the Wise," Peter told her.

"Oh a princess that's great!" She said.

We sat and ate while talking.

"May I have this dance, princess?" Peter asked offering his hand.

"I couldn't say no," I giggled taking his hand and walked out to the ballroom floor. Peter bowed and I curtsied then we walked toward each other and intertwined our hands while I put my other on his chest and he put his other hand on my waist.

"Are you enjoying yourself?" Peter asked as we spun in a circle.

"Of course," I smiled.

"You just seem off," he said then stuttered, "That's not what I meant..."

I laughed, "Aslan told me to stop doubting myself and that I should worry about what I've done in the past."

"You should you didn't know better," he said.

"Thanks Peter," I said as we stopped dancing in the middle of the ballroom.

"Of course," Peter smiled as I hugged him, "Anything for you," he said into my hair and I kissed his cheek.
