Chapter Seven

Jinx groaned.
"I don't understand why suddenly I'm so sick..."
Hansol sat on the edge of the bath, frowning.
"Do you know anybody that's been ill lately?"
Jinx shook her head.
"Ani~ and besides, I'm only sick in the morning when I wake up--- oh," a look of realisation crossed Jinx's face.
"What is it?" Hansol asked, tilting his head.
Jinx bit her lip, and met Hansol's curious eyes.
"Hansol, I think I'm pregnant."
Hansol's mouth dropped open, and his heart skipped a beat, metaphorically and literally.
"B-But..."
Jinx swallowed nervously.
"I-I'll take a test, to be certain, and then I'll go to the doctors..."
Hansol took Jinx's hand and squeezed it tightly.
"I'm always here if you need me, Jinx. I'll never leave your side."
Jinx kissed his cheek softly, smiling gratefully.
"Thank you Hansol-ah..."

Hansol and Jinx knelt before Mr Song, their heads bowed, their hands clasped.
"You're pregnant?" the Vampire Lord whispered, staring at his daughter and her fiance.
Jinx nodded.
"Yes father."
"And Hansol's the father?"
"Yes."
Mr Song took a deep breath.
"Well, at least you're getting along now. Hansol, are you prepared to take on the duty of a father?"
Hansol nodded firmly.
"Whether I'm ready or not, I can't just run away and leave her alone."
"Do you love my daughter, Hansol? I know you two are already engaged, and I never thought in my wildest dreams that you two would become this intimate, but I can't let me daughter get hurt. Do you love her?" Mr Song asked calmly.
Hansol looked at Jinx, who avoided his eyes.
"I love Jinx. I'd never hurt her."

That's what Kim Hansol thought. Never would he expect his future wife and mother of his child to be his deadliest enemy. Never would he expect her to be the most powerful vampire alive...and never would he expect to have to kill the woman he loved.

Four Weeks Later...
Jinx moaned softly, and rolled over onto her side. She looked at Hansol, who was sitting up in bed, staring at the wall.
"Hansol? What's wrong? Are you nervous about today?" Jinx asked delicately.
Hansol sighed.
"Yes...your dad scares the hell out of me. What's he going to say to me, Jinx? Is he going to threaten me?"
Jinx bit her lip. She had no clue why her father wanted to see Hansol alone.
"I don't know what he's going to do, but he won't hurt you. And he shouldn't scare you..." Jinx broke off, biting her bottom lip.
"Look, don't worry for me. It's bad for the baby. I'm sure I'll be fine," Hansol said in a reassuring tone.
Jinx nodded and snuggled up to him.
"I love you, Hansol."
"I love you too," Hansol murmured, smiling.

Hansol sat opposite Mr Song at the handsome, wooden and gold table. Mr Song poured him a glass of bright red blood, and sat back to study the nervous young man.
"So, Hansol, I have called you here so we can talk man to man. I think it's time I told you the reason of your and Jinx's marriage. Now you two have a child on the way, I believe it would be fitting, don't you?"
Hansol nodded.
"I-I guess..." He'd always thought it was just because his family could protect Jinx's..
"Well, Hansol, Jinx's mother knew that you were a Shadow Vampire. And she also knew that Jinx was a Golden Vampire," Mr Song said calmly.
Hansol breathed in sharply. Jinx was a golden vampire?! Mr Song carried on, before Hansol could say anything.
"Mrs Song had encountered last murder and fight between the Golden and Shadow Vampires. She was a peaceful woman, and despised the war that had been going on for years between the Golden followers and the Shadow followers. She saw you, and she saw a chance. She saw how protective you would be in the future, and she saw what you would do for her daughter. She wanted to stop the killings...and so did your mother. Hansol, you've lashed out at Jinx before, for hardly any reason, am I right?"
Hansol nodded, too shocked to speak, so Mr Song carried on.
"That's your instinct telling you to kill her before she kills you. Now, you can't tell Jinx any of this. She mustn't know. If you love my daughter, you'll make a decision...leave her, and hurt her, or stay with her, control your urges, and protect her until the baby is born. When it is, your instinct will tell you to look after your child, and when you're married, your instinct will tell you to look after your wife. I know you will do the right thing."
Hansol swallowed, and he felt a sudden weight being dropped onto his shoulders. He loved Jinx, so he knew that he had to protect her from himself. Hansol took a deep breath. He was different to other vampires, and so was Jinx, he could do this.

Two Weeks Later...

"Hansol-ah! Hurry up!" Jinx called.
"Don't be so impatient," Hansol snapped, emerging from their bedroom.
Jinx blinked.
"We're five minutes late."
Hansol sighed, lowering his eyes.
"Sorry. I'm just nervous."
"I'm sure everything will be fine," Jinx soothed, stepping closer to Hansol so she could stroke his hair gently.
"You're so sweet," Hansol smiled, "but I shouldn't be the worried on. You should. I'm surprised you're not."
"I guess I kind of am...I mean...my mother died in the middle of childbirth..." Jinx broke off.
Hansol stared at her, his mouth open.
"You have a sibling?"
Jinx shook her head, sadly.
"He died too."
"Oh Jinx...look, I'm sure the baby will be completely healthy. I'm always here for you, jagiya~" Hansol said delicately.
Jinx's eyes were sad and nervous, and Hansol could see that, but she still put on a fake, happy smile...just for Hansol. As soon as they reached the hospital, Jinx felt her heart stop in panic.
"H-Hansol...Hansol I don't think I want to do this..." she whispered desperately.
Hansol grabbed his fiancé's hand, and yanked her to the desk.
"We have an appointment to see the doctor. I'm afraid we're a little late, but we have a nervous, pregnant woman here, so I believe we have an excuse."
The receptionist nodded, and showed the pair, muttering, into the doctors office. The young woman looked up, smiling.
"Ah~ Jinx~ come for a scan, have we?"

Two Hours Later...

"See, I told you things would be fine. It's a boy!" Hansol grinned.
Jinx smiled, and hooked her arm around Hansol's.
"Ne, everything will be fine~"
Hansol studied her eyes carefully.
"Do you trust me, Jinx?"
Jinx frowned.
"Yes, of course. Why?"
Hansol took a deep breath. He badly wanted to tell her about what he knew. He wanted to let her know that when he snapped at her or got angry, it wasn't her fault. But Hansol knew that Jinx may be strong, but she got hurt easily, and if she knew that Hansol might snap at any moment, and kill her, Jinx would break down, scared for the baby. Hansol forced a smile.
"I was just curious. I love you, jagiya."
Jinx smiled, blushing.
"I love you too, oppa."
They made their way back home, all the time Hansol fearing the safety of the woman he loved, and Jinx wondering why Hansol was suddenly acting like this. He wasn't going to leave...right?
