My iPod lights up at two minute intervals while I labour through physics homework but I wait until problem e) to unlock it.

Aide: so. Saturday. Any requests?

Me: something chill

Aide: chilly? I could fly us to Antarctica ( i have my helicopter license)

Me: why am i not surprised?

Aide: something relaxed? Mundane? Unmemorable?

Me: yah!!

Aide: I'm calling you.

The screen suddenly fills with my somewhat startling face as his FaceTime calls pops up. I accept.

"So, something chill." He says. I think he's siting in the floor beside one of the huge windows, because the background is navy and vaguely reflective. His hair contrasts brightly with it and falls lazily across his forehead.

He's wearing my favourite of his sweaters (he wears sweaters all the time and it's so cute) and it's looks all soft and cozy and black.

"Yeah. Nothing crazy, please." I tell him, surreptitiously checking my hair in the tiny square where I can see myself. I washed it a little while ago as it's still wet and stringy.

"So... people watching in the park with coffee?" He says it offhand and I imagine an out flung arm off camera.

"That sounds great," I say with a grin. My mom calls from the kitchen and I ignore it. "So, how was your day?"

"Well, I dissected a turtle and accidentally sprayed my partner with identified reproductive parts. They looked like yellow corn nibs but she freaked out."

I stare at him before I fall into hysterical laughter.
