Horrible

Summary: a week after the mind flayer is burned out of will, he feels like shit.

——

Wills eyes fluttered open, pain instantly hitting him in his side, where Nancy burned him. He softly groaned, sitting up on his bed.

His mom knocked on his door, walking in, holding a bowl of soup. She smiled at her son. "How are you feeling will?"

He shook his head. "I'm fine." He gave a small smile.

Joyce put her hand on wills head. "I brought you some soup—" she put her hand back down, grabbing the bowl. "It's a bit hot." She chuckled.

Will didn't smile, he just took the bowl, sitting it in his lap. "Thanks mom."

Joyce ruffled her sons hair. "Also..Mike said he wanted to come over. I just wanted to make sure it was okay with you?" She glanced at Will.

Will took a sip of his soup, nodding softly. Joyce smiled, mouthing an 'okay' before leaving the room.

Will sat on his bed. He felt like hell. He was most definitely getting a burn scar. It still hurt, a lot.

He still remembered everytime he would have an episode. It was horrible.

Will stared infront of him, thinking about the upside down.

It was cold and dark- like he said it was like home but a lot more empty. He remembered being trapped there too. Who wouldn't?

The only thing that kept him alive was singing his favorite song. But, he didn't like that song anymore since it reminded him so much of the upside down.

He always thought of his friends in the upside down. Oh, how much he wanted to go back to how things used to be. It was heart wrenching.

If only, on that night he stayed at Mike's a little longer. Maybe played for a little longer, or just, has a sleepover with Mike. Anything.

His thoughts were cut out whenever he heard Mike walk in.

Mike slid down next to will, staring at him. "Hey." His voice was soft.

Will got up, sitting his bowl down on his desk. He stood there, shaking a bit. "Hi." He mumbled.

Mike cleared his throat. "You okay? Do you need anything? Besided food- Joyce already got you soup, wait– do you want something different than soup?" He started to get up."I can get you s—"

Will cut off Mike's rambling. "Mike."

Mike sat back down. "Sorry."

Will shook his head, fidgeting with the watch on his wrist. Him and Mike had matching ones. "No, no. Its-it's fine. You're just worried. I get it." He stammered, glancing at Mike.

Mike nodded. "How are you anyways?" He looked up at Will.

Will slumped down next to Mike. "If I said I was fine I would be lying." He breathed out.

Mike placed his hand on wills. "I'm sorry. You must feel like shit."

Wills face flushed. "Uh yeah," he dryly chuckled. "I do."

Mike smiled. "Well, do you wanna draw? Maybe that'll make you feel better."

Will nodded. "Yeah uh, I'll get my art stuff." He  walked over to his desk, before pulling out a pack of colored pencils, along with some paper.

Will placed everything on the bed, carefully. He flopped on his bed, beside Mike, who was already laying down.

"What are you gonna draw?" Mike turned to look at Will, who was already sketching something.

"A zombie." He sighed, not taking his eyes off the paper.

Mike frowned, he knew that everyone at school called him a zombie boy. He always comforted will whenever he cried about it. Will almost never cried. But after the whole upside down thing, it was almost like anything that reminded him of it made him go over the edge.

"You're not a zombie." Mike said, turning around so he could lay his head on wills back.

"I know." Will mumbled, blushing at Mike's touch.

Mike stared at the ceiling. "Last week, was nuts."

"Yeah. Tell me about it." Will scoffed, rolling his eyes.

Mike chuckled. "When we were burning the mind flayers tunnels, we saw dart."

Will sat his pencils down. "Wait- really?"

Mike got up, looking at Will. "Yeah. That thing was a full on demogorgon by that time. But— for some stupid reason Dustin and dart grew a relationship. So we didn't die." He laughed at the last sentence.

Will shook his head. "Wow." He laid back on his bed. "I threw up a demogorgon fetus."

Mike laid next to him. "I mean, I guess. I tried to get Dustin to kill it, but whatever." He scoffed.

"Yeah." Will stared at his ceiling fan. "He probably kept it."

Mike rolled his eyes. "If he did I'm gonna kill him."

Will slightly smiled. "Yeah well, there's nothing we can really do about it now. So I wouldn't bother."

"But-" He paused. "How could he like something that almost killed you." Mike frowned.

"I don't know mike." He sighed. "Dustin will be..dustin. you know how he is, making friends with bugs, and all sorts of things."

Mike turned over, laying on his side. "I've always hated bugs. Amphibians are fine, bugs just creep me out." He shivered.

Will smiled. "I remember that one time you jumped on me when there was a spider on the floor." He laughed.

Mike scoffed. "It was red. Red spiders are probably poisonous!" He softly hit wills shoulder.

"You were crying like a baby though." Will smiled, turning to look at Mike.

"Oh shut up." Mike rolled his eyes. Smiling at Will.

"It was funny though. You were like 'will! Will! Kill the spider! Wahh! Wahh!!' " He made fun of Mike, imitating his cries.

Mike laughed. "Okay, I do not  sound like that." He rolled his eyes playfully.

Will snickered. "You do." He smiled, staring at Mike.

It was quiet for a moment. They were just enjoying each other's presence.

Joyce opened the door. "Mike, your mom's on the phone."

Mike sighed, getting up. Will already missed his presence.

Mike walked into the kitchen, picking up the phone. "Yes mom?"

He could hear the bickering in the backround, as well as hollies crying. "Ah- Mike. I need you to stay at the byers tonight. Hollie threw up everywhere, I don't want you to get sick. Joyce already said it was okay."

Mike nodded. "Alright- I can stay here. Bye mom, love ya."

"Love you too Mike, see you tomorrow."

Mike hung up, putting the phone back on the wall. He turned his heel and walked back into wills room, shutting the door.

"I have to stay here tonight. Hollies sick." He scratched the back of his neck.

"Oh- that's fine." Will sat up, wincing in pain shortly after, a color pencil had poked where his burn was.

"You okay?" Mike worridly asked, sitting down.

"Yeah- just that burn from Nancy hurts." He shook his head.

"Nancy burned you?" He widened his eyes in shock.

"Yeah. But it got it out of me, so I'm glad she did." He smiled, getting up to put the pencils back in its case.

"Does it hurt? Like always?" Mike tilted his head.

Will was quiet for a moment. "Uh, yeah. We treated it at the hospital though. Doctors said I would most likely have a scar when I'm older."

Mike smirked. "It would look pretty on you." He mindlesly muttered.

"..really?" Will mumbled, looking at Mike.

Mike's face turned red. "Uh- uh yeah." He shook his head. "Pretty nice, like uhm- pretty cool. Badass." He looked down.

Will continued cleaning up his art mess, not saying anything.

"I just realized I don't have any spare clothes." Mike dryly laughed.

"I have some of your clothes in my closet. From previous sleepovers." Will stuffed his pencils inside his drawer.

"Wait I do?" Mike got up.

"Yeah, you leave stuff like hoodies, and a few shirts here and there." Will walked over to his closet.

"Oh." Mike stood next to will as will opened the closet.

Will pulled out a shirt that Mike had left, the words ghostbusters  were on the front, with a small ghost underneath the lettering.

"Oh! I've wondered where that shirt went!" He chuckled, taking it from will.

"Yeah, I like that shirt too." Will smiled at Mike, before pulling out a hoodie. "I've worn this before, it's super comfy." He giggled.

Mike's face turned red. "Really? Then you can have it." He again, mindlesly said.

Will blushed. "Oh- uh- thanks." He smiled, putting the hoodie down on his chair. "What about pants?" He looked at Mike.

Mike just shrugged. "I'll sleep in my boxers. No biggie." He began to take off his shirt.

Will turned red, quickly turning away. "Uhm, I have to pee." He left the room, Mike looking confused.

Mike shrugged, changing into his ghostbusters shirt and taking off his pants. Leaving his boxers on. He flopped down on wills bed, taking a book that was on his bedside table.

A few minutes later will walked back in, face red as a tomato. Mike put his book back down.

"So, what do you wanna do?" Mike looked at Will, who was just standing there.

"Uhm uh," Will shook his head, shaking the thought of almost seeing Mike change right in front of him. "I can pull the TV in here, and watch a movie." He scratched the back of his neck, looking down.

Mike smiled. "Cool! What movie should we watch?" He excitedly got up.

"Well, I have a lot of movies actually. But the ones I can remember off the top of my head are; the shining, the thing, and the evil dead. They're all horror movies." Will sheepishly smiled.

"Oh." He thought for a moment. "Do you have the outsiders?"

Will nodded. "I'm pretty sure, yeah. Hold on."

Will left the room, and shortly came back rolling in the TV. In hand he had the VHS tape for the outsiders. He turned on the TV, putting the VHS tape in. He quickly crawled into his bed, Mike following next to him.

"I love this movie." Mike smiled sitting next to will.

Will smiled. "I like the shining a lot." He looked down at his hands.

"We can watch it after this if you want." Mike put his hand on wills shoulder.

Will slightly blushed. "Uh, yeah sure."

For the next thirty minutes of the movie, the boys sat quietly on wills bed. Mike making commentary every now and then.

Will started to feel cold. He hated the cold. So much. It made him feel like the mind flayer was under control again.

He scooted closer to Mike, and pulled the covers over them, mindlesly.

Will laid back, resting his head on his pillow. Mike did the same a few minutes after.

"You tired?" He asked.

"No, just cold." Will muttered.

Mike slightly frowned, he pulled will closer to him in attempts to warm him up. He slinked his arms around his waist, pulling him up to his chest.

Will froze, face flushed. He did feel much warmer though, so he relaxed and laid his head on Mike's chest.

They didn't watch the shining. They both fell asleep.
