Chapter 4

It has been about six dawns since we have left the village. Ekon and Aurora are riding in the wagon with Bessa and one of the warriors who is driving the horses. I and Svuri are on our own horses. Mines is a dapple gray stallion. I met her one day when I was near the waterfall back home. I was bathing when I saw him. He looked at me as I him. He nodded his head and stomped his hoof in the water and as fast as he came, he disappeared as fast as a boomerang. That is why I named him Boomerang. Svuri has a brown varnish roan mare. She met her the week after my encounter with Boomerang. She had called her Lizzie. They are the fastest horses in our clan.

~seven sunrises later~

We are in the Kingdom of Adwirenven. We have gone without rest. The only time we have stopped is to give the horses a rest. We have not slept since the night we have left six dawns ago. If my estimate is correct, we will reach the Kingdom of Saveldan in seven to eight dawns. Ekon and Aurora were bouncing up and down when I told them that I was going to the Kingdom of Saveldan to meet the king.

I will admit that after we had packed, I started to worry about their health after traveling. I did not want any harm to come to them and this trip would definitely put them in danger. We have have to go through the Kingdom of Ediesh, the Kingdom of Adwireven, and the dark forest to get to the Kingdom of Saveldan where we have to travel through their land and get to the other side of the kingdom just to reach the castle.

"Zarrenna, we should pick up our pace. King Napoleon is not a patient man and if he sent his private messenger to contact us, that means it is really important" said Biff. Biff is my father's best male fighter. He has also been my father's best friend since they were wee babes, just like Svuri and I. " I know, Biff, but we must not be in such a rush. I am afraid that Ekon and Aurora are not fit for this type of travel." He looks at me with a genuine smile. "They have been through a lot, Zarrenna. I don't think any of the bumps in the road will bother them. Now your sister on the other hand might not be so happy, but we must hurry. The sooner we has the dark forest, the closer we are to going home." I nod my head. He has a point. Bessa wasn't one on traveling, especially when we hurry to get somewhere.

I look back to the supply cart. I fall back to talk to them. To tell them that we must pick up our paste if we are to make it past the dark forest by next dawn.
