THE DARK SIDE OF BASQUEISM

Not all the arts and rites ought to goal the warm light, some men and women had anxious desires to fulfill what they believed was eternity and riches but was indeed the path of no return towards the netherworld, where no good ever took place and lifeless souls wandered around in the cold darkness.
There were times when some humans could be very vulnerable and tricked by evil forces around us all, that vulnerability would become appetite for beings that could sense the weakness and use it against us to feed themselves with our souls full of vibrant life, something they wholly lacked of.

AKELAŔE

The Akelaŕe, a Basque word formed by akeŕ (male goat) and laŕe (meadow) was an ancient event in which the bad witches known as soŕgińak gathered around in circle to practice evil witchcraft that included rites, spells and incantations with animal and human sacrifices to invoke the devil known as Akeŕbaltz shaped as a shadowed goat.

Curiously they seeked for under two-year-old babies, only those wander between the two worlds, life and death.
That way, their souls would be weaker, more innocent and easier access for Akeŕbaltz to taste their flavor and pluck out their souls.

When these atrocious cruelties were finished, massive orgies took place to sort of seal the Akelaŕe.

On the other hand, many Basques throughout Basqueland disgusted these wicked atrocities practiced by a few and prayed for protection to Goddess Mari.
