I wake up on a rainy Sunday morning to my alarm clock beeping violently in my ear. I reach my hand out of my warm sheets and hit my bed side table until the noise stopped. I had work today, I work at Boots in the makeup department, It's okay I guess but it's not a career I particularly want.
I get up and look in the mirror at my skinny, ugly body, 'I look so broken' I think to myself. I used to self harm my wrists but I stopped when people noticed, so I now cut my thighs. I got put into this run down orphanage 10 years ago when my parents left me in the middle of London and said they'd be right back, and well, here we are, they never came back they're probably both in jail or doing drugs, that's all I really remember about them.
I walk past the mirror and towards my draws. I get my uniform out for work and head to the bathroom, I take a quick shower and get out my makeup bag, I see the razor at the bottom, it glinted in the yellow light of the ceiling light above me. I pick it up and stare for a while. I look at my thighs and cut several times until I was satisfied. I washed the razor and the blood off my legs and got changed and did makeup. '1 more year' I think to myself as I leave the bathroom 'that's it'. I sigh and walk back to my room I shared with one other girl who was pretty shy but she was quite nice, her name is Eva and she's 15. She came last week.
I walk to the kitchen and say good morning to Miss Leane, she's the boss of the orphanage and she is lovely. "Morning Maisy!" She says perkily "good morning" I say back smiling.
I made myself some breakfast and sat down. Once I'd finished I put my bowl on the side and I headed to work.
***skip to after she gets back from work***
I'd just got through the door at 4:30pm when Miss Leane runs towards me through the corridor with the biggest grin on her face "Maisy! Maisy! Some guys called up earlier and said they were looking to adopt a 16/17 year old girl! They're coming round to see you tomorrow!" She says spinning me around "oh my god that's amazing!" I squeal hugging her. "You better look your best tomorrow! You're not working are you?" She asks calming down a bit "no, thank god!" I reply grinning.
***skip to before she goes to bed***
I get into my bed quietly because Eva is already asleep I plug in my earphones and go onto YouTube. I always watch the sidemen they're my favourite people in the world! I would die to meet them. I see Simon (miniminter) has uploaded another mini golf episode, I press play and watch the video then I went to sleep.
I woke up at 9:00 and got ready, Miss Leane said they're coming at 12:00, so I had lots of time to get ready. I get my clothes for the day that were a lot nicer than usual and go to the bathroom and do my makeup (MEDIA). By that time it was about 11:00 so I watched YouTube until they arrived.
