one month later

Will was having a sleepover with the Wheeler's tonight.  Will and Mike were watching Alien on VHS. After the movie was over, Mike went upstairs to get snacks and some drinks for him and Will. When he came back down, Will was nowhere to be found.  Remembering what happened in the Upside Down, Mike dropped the snacks (luckily he forgot the drinks) and frantically checked everywhere in the basement. He finally found him in the closet, safe and sound. He was smiling and laughing. "Tag you're it!", Will said, getting up and running away. Mike sighed with relief and laughed. Mike ran after him, his and Will's laughter filling up the room.

After the game ended, Mike wanted to tell Will how he felt, but he couldn't do it here in the basement. "Will? Can we go to Castle Byers?", Mike said. Will looked at him, giving him that smile that made his heart ache. "Sure!", he replied. The two boys got their jackets and bikes. Mike left a note saying he was going to the Byers's for a bit. When they arrived at Castle Byers, the two boys went inside and sat down on the mat. "So what did you wanna do?", Will said.

 "Will...I have to tell you something...", Mike said. He couldn't bring himself to do it, so he thought it was better to do it then say it. Mike got closer to Will, until they were inches apart. Mike leaned in and gave him a long kiss. When he pulled away, Will was a bright red. "I like you...", Mike said. Will was smiling sheepishly. And to Mike's surprise, Will, the boy he loved with all his heart, returned the kiss. Both boys were blushing hard. Then, Mike popped up the question. "Will you be my boyfriend?", he said, smiling. Will nodded his head yes and hugged Mike. The boys laid down on the mat, holding each other as they slept.
