"[when] my dog passed away last year, i was honestly at a loss. i didn't really know how to feel, and i was worried that i'd forget about him. i was an emotional mess when they were putting him down, and i couldn't even face it. i was just... crying alone near my room while my family was with the dog. i had uh... a lot of emotions going on on the day of and after. during those few days i was just... kind of empty. i kept thinking about death, and how easy it can be to forget about someone who's passed. i still think about that, now and again. [eventually,] this- idk, image kept appearing whenever i spaced out. not sure if it was a representation of anything, but it was this young male in a business suit and a suitcase. i didn't think much of it, but he just wouldn't get out of my head. my brain came up with a name for this guy; derrick phillips. it's a weird ass name but... it kept popping up, so i eventually said, "fuck it. i'll write something about this guy[".]"

this story is kind of a mess- mostly because i wrote half of it after the passing of my dog, and the rest was finished months later. i'm... personally not satisfied with the ending. to me, it really felt forced- that it didn't properly show what i wanted with the story. but... that's just me, and i still have a lot to figure out so- yeah. take this messy piece of writing and think whatever you want about it. whether it's a pile of garbage or half decent, i'm glad that at least you read through it. i don't exactly like showing my more... serious side to writing- especially on here- but, maybe for once, i need to express myself. so, here it is.
