A trial doesn't sound bad, right? Wrong. The trial will determine your punishment, the punishment could go anywhere from helping the community's caretakers to being thrown out of the community to die. Almost everyone feared the Trial and if you didn't fear the Trial there is a chance you'd be the one to die because of it.For Shelbey her fears were amplified when she watched her brother get thrown out into the community to die and her sister get her tongue taken out to live as a mute.
