The Fire Guardians

The world had been scorched and burnt by wild fires; they were unstoppable. There is little life and those who remained had to challenge mother nature herself for survival. Wild fires still spread, there was no escape. Dilapidated buildings, barren farm lands that once thrived with life. No one knows how it all came, climate change? Bonfires? Suspicions spread but there was one certain thing: these fires were hungry, and nothing could fulfil that raging hunger.The ones who did survive still had to fight against the everyday challenges of this ruined world. It drove some people insane, others suffered silently. People ran for their lives in the pursuit to live, others could no longer carry the weight of living any longer.There were no shelters, the longest a person or group could stay in one place was for a fortnight, otherwise the fire would envelope them in a beautiful array of colours, dancing around them only to suffocate them. Everyone travelled across the world, but not as they hoped so, sites they wished to see in full glory were now forlorn and filled with sorrow as they watched the world slowly die. One particular fire surrounded a town, and the only place of shelter was an abandoned mansion in the distant corner of that town called Wolf Water Mansion. Eerie silence filled the air with suspense as six young adults entered the building all from different winding paths and entrances. The mansion was covered in winding ivy suffocating the ancient, weathered stone bricks, which used to be a beautiful auburn colour, but were now a depressed grey colour covered in dust and ash that travelled hundreds of miles by the wind. The enchanting stained glass windows were now only shards that could slice through flesh like paper. The decaying grand entrance was now scorched and marked with scars of the horrible events it had survived.
