Once captured, crazy things begin to happen. Perhaps even crazier than Sophia herself. She is soon and unfortunately aquatinted with a Kingdom of bloodthirsty foxes. She might have to make allies with some enemies. Some friends... But will they burn and fly away like ash in the wind too? The first installment in the Wildfire series!

The room became more humid than it was, and pieces of ash fell away from the crack by the creature's eye till the preserved skin was visible. Cautiously, I walked towards it's massive head. The air tense, my body shaking, and my breathing unsteady. Then I found myself frozen, for I was now staring into an eye the color of wildfire.

Pinwheels and Dandelions
I was kicked around like trash on the streets. I was the book that nobody could understand or read, but without a care, they were quick to rip out the pages. I screamed for attention, but time after time, I was ignored. Nobody noticed me, so I made myself at home in my own shadow. They say there's light at the end of the tunnel -- I searched and searched for it, but it could never be found. Therefore, I lost hope as I hid in the shade and endured what seemed like everlasting pain.The little hope I did have was snatched from my arms. My baby brother was my life, and they took my glimpse of hope away.Home. Is that a word? Maybe for a family of some kind, but for me, I never had a place to call home. I moved from place to place. Unstable foster care, fighting for my life in group homes, barely surviving in detention centers, and running away from being mistreated as I made many benches my temporary home.The only thing that I was familiar with was a black plastic bag containing my dirty rags. I am too young to know what it feels like to survive. These are the cards life has dealt me and I am not meant to win; however, I easily lose without trying.It is hard for me to find peace. I am paying for my mother's reckless actions. I am trapped in a world where the sun has died because I am unable to feel love. I am unable to dream. Sorrow is my aura, and the sadness hugs me. My eyes are closed shut by the barbed wire fence from my eyelashes as they prohibit tears from falling.I am damaged.When will the morning come? Did the sun put up a fight last night, like I do every single day? If I can survive the day, I know the sun isn't dead. One day, I will awake to a glorious sunrise.Until then, I hope my brother keeps blowing his pinwheel, and I will keep making wishes with every dandelion I come across. For now, all I know is that everything was taken from me, and the only thing I own is my name.

What's home, if not the first place you run away from? What's love, if not that unexplainable, blazing feeling which comes after a period of hate? Reputable for her catchy appearance, her over-niceness, her obsession with cartoon animations and her grandfather's eagerness to marry her off, Alaina's a workaholic, immigrant doctor with certain issues, who has forced herself to abandon the concept of love due to her parents' past relationship, despite the many blind dates which her eccentric family members force her on. One hot afternoon at her workplace, she accidentally bumps into the rudest man on the planet and spills milkshake on him. Davian Ash. Mr. Asshole. A wealthy businessman with a dirty past and tons of secrets, whom fate interweaves into her destiny without her consent. His Wildfire eyes frighten her. Her big, brown eyes infuriate him. His arrogance catches her off-guard each time. Her smart mouth pisses him off just as much as it turns him on. His beastly demeanor draws her in rather than repulses her. Her quirky attitude irks him. They both dislike each other, and they know it, but still, they find each other insanely attractive. These emotions intensify furiously however, when she takes someone from him and is forced into proximity with him as his revenge for her carelessness. Regardless of the fact that he destroys Alaina's life and treats her like shit over and over again, she can't stop herself or her subconscious from fan-girling over the beast and wanting explicit things from him. She doesn't want to, and she tries so very hard to stop herself from becoming attached to a man who treated her just as bad as her dad did her mum...but when his brusque, impulsive and ungentlemanly layers are peeled off piece by piece, and all his secrets are revealed to her, barring a side of him to her which no one else on Earth knows exists, she proves everyone right once again on the subject of how weak-willed and spineless she truly is. Or does she?

Perspective is a funny thing;Stirling Thomas, those two words alone were enough to have anyone running in the opposite direction and cowering in fear. The town has heard all of the rumours, they know he has just been released from prison and they know he is notoriously infamous for being in some sort of crime gang. But they don't actually know HIM.
