El Último Paciente
El doctor Leonardo Dávalos, es un sexagenario médico homeópata, que tiene su consulta en el viejo barrio de San Felipe, en centro de Guadalajara, donde atiende diariamente por las tardes, a donde acuden decenas de pacientes en busca de alivio. Hacía ya varias semanas que se cernía sobre la población una epidemia de anemia perniciosa. Cada semana recibía al menos una docena de pacientes sufriendo de este mal. Aquello comenzaba a inquietar al médico, que dedicaba las noches a buscar referencias de alguna situación similar en su espléndida biblioteca, sin encontrar nada. Esa noche, despidió a su último paciente a eso de las nueve y treinta de la noche, justo cuando iba a cerrar la puerta de su consultorio; aparece de entre las sombras de la noche, un hombre, con su huesuda mano detiene la vieja puerta de madera y le pide que lo atienda. Leonardo consultando la hora, le pide que vuelva mañana, y el misterioso hombre, le dice que mañana sería demasiado tarde para él. El aspecto enfermizo del sujeto le hace ceder y le franquea el paso. Nunca imaginó que en ese simple gesto de amabilidad, le había permitido entrar a su casa a un vampiro.
