Dedicated to and inspired by the wonderful poet and author, Maya Angelou (may she rest in peace).
This is a very short poem I wrote for school which is based on Maya Angelou's peom, "Caged Bird".http://www.poetryfoundation.org/poem/178948
A young hairdresser justice (Lisa Bonet) in a small salon living in south central writes her poems to get through grief and violence after losing his boyfriend, as for the mailman lucky (Tupac Shakur) who's taking care of his daughter, his spirit was his music, as they meet to go visit Oakland, the road was the only way to leave the pain and past behind.
Mostly Short Stories of Black Women and Sister Hood on realtionships and Friendships plus Family.
As part of the English Language and Literature course in IB1, my class and I read the book 'I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings', by Maya Angelou. For the written task that we did afterwards, I chose to add a chapter to the book. The chapter that I added was after the last chapter in the book, which was chapter 36. As Maya Angelou's book did not have specific titles for each chapter, I left my work with the title 'Chapter 37'. In order to to maintain a connection between my writing and that of Maya Angelou's, I tried my best to follow her writing style. This means the language that I have used, my diction as well as the paragraph and sentence structures, are based on how they are in the book. For those who have already read the book, this might be an interesting addition. For those who haven't, consider this a spoiler :p Please do read and let me know what you think! :)
'Cause I'm a woman, phenomenally. Phenomenal woman. That's me.Or.In which, Michelle Jones is in desperate need of a place to stay, and Peter Parker is willing to help her out.
This is for @TheOneWriter10 and @christmasgeek2010. Check them out, they're amazing! Anyway, this is a little story I wrote for them about them. Also, it is based on the poem "I know why the caged bird sings" by Maya Angelou.
Excuse me, can I grab your eyes and thoughts? As you gaze upon these poetic prayers of this silent village boy. Understand that his outside is sideways and flipped upside down all in one. Scream loudly if you can, but I guarantee the village boy has screamed louder as a sheep. Boys are made men in a village and sent out to provide, well behold with your eyes the struggle he felt knowing all he could do was wait to provide. So prepare your minds, sharpen your thoughts and come along on his strife to his strive. Based off true stories.
"I think the perfection of love is that it's not perfect." ~Taylor Swift"Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope." ~Maya Angelou"Some love stories aren't epic novels. Some are short stories. But that doesn't make them any less filled with love." ~Carrie Bradshaw"I loved her against reason, against promise, against peace, against hope, against happiness, against all discouragement that could be." ~Charles Dickens💖💖💖"Kuch Khaas Dilon Ko Ishq Kay Ilhaam Hotay HainMuhabbat To Moujza Hai Aur Moujzay Kahan Aam Hotay Hain""Main Toh Betha Tha Har Ek Sheh Say Kinara Kar KayWaqt Nay Chod Diya Mujh Ko Tumhara Kar Kay""Suna Hai Ek Laila Thi, Suna Hai Ek Majnu ThaChalo Na Kartay Hain Ek Wohi Dastaan Zinda""Muhabbat Farz Hai Farzi NahiSarasar Marz Hai Marzi Nahi""Dil Chahta Hai Likhoon KuchIss Qadar Gehra KayParh Toh Sabh Hi PaayainMagar Samjho Sirf Tum"❤❤❤Love cannot be described in words, it's a feeling that cannot be expressed. Presenting to you some unique short stories that are not super cliche💘P.S. The book contains urdu dialogues but with english translation provided.
Just paying homage to Maya Angelou and the classic movie Poetic Justice. Capturing a love story unfolding right before lovers eyes. 🌹
I was required to write two poems for a Black History Outreach event being held in a restaurant & lounge. I am to present two poems, one of Dr. Maya Angelou and one of myself. This poem is of me, more so my thoughts, and manner of thinking. Please do comments. Constructive criticism is more than welcome. Do Enjoy. This is my first published writing.
l'm a black woman who is proud to have melanin flowing through her veins. The purpose of this book is not to scream that black lives matter, which they do but rather I'm here to educate black women on their true identity and worth. Here is a compilation of energetic, black-spirited poems and writings from black authors to our often forgotten black readers. Sip your chocolate and let these words color your mind. Literally.
