Just A Taste
Teenagers are hormonal, unpredictable, idiotic, and fickle. They have this false sense of immortality, this warped view of wrong and this stained image of right. Teenagers are trapped, left leg in childhood and right leg in adulthood. Stuck trying to find the differences between love and lust, horror and excitement. High school hallways are filled with confusion and discomfort and rumors and idealisms making the final step furthermore difficult. As two boys transition into men, they figure out themselves, and after a night out, begin to figure out one another as well.
The Secrets to Immortality
The fear of death leads many people from creating several imaginary alliances in their heads just to convince themselves that maybe there is an extension of their life. Through this kind of fear, many of these people suddenly lead themselves into oblivion. Since the ancient times there are many people and personalities who made this daring attempt to achieve immortality such as the Pharaohs of Egypt who built gigantic pyramids and sacrificed thousands of lives through the use of slaves to build day and night not knowing they are also humans and later on instructed their priests to mummify their bodies after they die in order for them to live forever. In ancient China, the warlords like Ch'in Shih-huang-ti and others before him buried their favorite servants alive together with their dead body and sculpted a thousand terracotta army just to accompany and protect them from the souls of their enemies from the other life waiting. In the far ends of the deserts, some believed that there is an “elixir of life” that will transform a weak body into never dying soul which is resistant to aging and other natural diseases. That is why when Europe heard of this madness, people are rushing to the unknown lands learning the secrets of what they so-called alchemists who can perform magic and later on be like them. They even sold the last of their bread just to acquire the Philosophers Stone and many more in which now-a-days we call it madness, wicked, ignorant and irrational act of humans just to live forever. Not to mention the promise of religion since the ancient time up to the modern times in which for thousands of years, we completely believe on this but in a more elicit manner. It means no offense to the blind believers and true believers, but it only cites the result of our fears of death due to the fact that we have uncertainties whether there is life after death or everything we know is just a noble lie.

For me, The Gems Within depicts my own personal highs and lows of being a teenager. Some of you may already know I started writing this book at fourteen as I say throughout my blog. It's not based on a teenager in anyway, neither does it depict moody teenagers moping about. It is an adult novel and should be read by adults.The Gems Within centres on four people; immortal people. They go by the names of Ash (Ashley), Gaia (Gail), Malaya & Monsoon. However; something all joins them, they are immortal. Ash is a Vampire, Gaia is a Fairy, Malaya makes people forget and Monsoon is an Angel. Something else unites these people, they all wear a similar necklace with different gemstones: amber, ruby, emerald and sapphire.This novel shows their daily lives, struggles and events that all unite them. It is not a children's novel, it's adult themes demonstrate real people with real struggles. The book intertwines events we can all relate to and some we cannot. However when it is read, I hope that it will touch the hearts of many and, will leave people contemplating their own lives. No one would've guessed an ancient gate would be found under the surface, housing technology and energies beyond reason.
