EPISODE FIFTEEN 15:JAY!!!

MICHAEL'S POV.

"Triple kill," the voice rang in my ear, through my headphones.

I love playing free fire a lot, I let out my anger and sadness through it, because you know I can't actually kill people in real life.

The door to my room slowly creaked open, I smelt this lavender perfume.

"Mom, haven't you heard about knocking, I'm a man I need my privacy, you know,"I said.

"Man my foot, I bathed you till you were twelve and you will always be my baby not a man," she said.

I let my earphones down on my neck.

"Mama, why are you here, I'm not in the mood," I said.

"Michael, what is going on in your head, you should live your life like a typical teenager, get a girlfriend, go to parties, hang out with friends and just be a kid," she said.

"Dad doesn't let us date until we are 18, so I'm trying my best not to break the rules," I said.

She sat beside me, coming to my level and she cupped my chin.

"Kwame, you know it's not your fault she died," mom said.

"Really mom, we are now on a middle name basis," I asked.

"Listen, live your life or you might end up regretting it, life isn't all about basketball and having good grades, it comprises family and friends too," she said.

"I don't know mama," I said.

"You are a gifted child and I know it," she said.

She kissed my cheeks and she left.

She would be so angry if she found out that I'm planning on going to boarding school.

Mama is the best, she gave up all her dreams to take care of us, she had always wished to start a fashion line but she chose to be a full housewife because of us, it kills me to see her broken.

I moved over to the locker to pick up my purple bracelet. It is as beautiful as the only girl that looks so beautiful in an eye patch.

What the, what is going on in your head Michael. She is as rude as hell and you think she is beautiful, come off it.

I moved downstairs for dinner and everybody was at the table, this is the perfect time to tell papa about it.

I took a look at Marco and Marcus, I had never carried any of them in my life, not because I didn't like babies but because I've always been scared that I would drop them and they could die because of me, just like my sister.

When everyone was done with their food I decided to break the news.

"Papa, I would like to go to boarding school,"I said with no emotion.

"What, you are not leaving this house," mom said.

"Rachael calm down, let's hear what he has to say," papa said.

"Why do you want to go to a boarding school," he enquired.

"I would like to focus more on my studies and basketball," I answered. I didn't even have the guts to look him in the eye.

"OK, you can start next Monday," he said.

Why would he let me go so easily, without any further question, that is very unlike my dad.

"Deandre, you cannot let him go, I'm not going to let anyone of my kids out of my sight," she stated.

"Rachael, he is not a kid anymore, he knows what he wants and it's his life let him live it,"dad said.

I saw a tear trickle down mom's face and I couldn't believe I was the cause of it.

Mom did not grow up with siblings and she doesn't want that for us.

I just want to get out of this environment.

I stood up from my seat to head upstairs and to think things over.

"Dre, why would you let him go, he is just a child," I could hear my mom say.

I hope I regret none of this.

I laid on my bed and rested my head on a pillow. I heard my door creek open again, but this time it was a strawberry perfume.

"What do you want Ria," I asked.

"Can we talk," she asked.

"About what," I asked.

"About you going to a boarding school," she said.

"OK," I said.

"Michael, please don't go to boarding school, it'll make mama sad," she said.

"Everyone is going to miss you," she continued.

"Do I hold such importance in this house," I queried.

"You are still a member of this family", she said.

"I'm sorry Ria, but I already made up my mind, I'm going to boarding school," I said.

"It's fine I understand that there is nothing I can do to change your mind, bye," she said.

Immediately she placed her hand on the door knob, she sighed.

"Always remember that, families are like branches on a tree, we grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one," she said and she left my room.

Those words were like blades, pricking me with every damn word, who would have thought that my twelve years old sister would be this smart.

I was about to sleep when I heard a loud bang on my door.

"Michael, you think the world revolves 'round you," Marion said, raisin' his voice.

"What you mean?" I queried.

"You think you special and you feel too big, but trust me, you just an arrogant idiot," he said.

This the first time Marion ever shouted at me.

"Get the hell outta my room," I ordered.

"Make me. All you ever do is make everyone 'round you suffer," he said.

Mama in her room cryin' for you not to go, but 'cause you selfish, you can't even put yourself in her shoes and not go, uh," he said.

"Get out," I ordered one more time.

This time he listened, but before he left, he said these words that shattered my heart like glass.

"You a terrible son."

What have I done?

The next day I woke, I couldn't empty that void no matter what.

I didn't even have breakfast before heading to school.

I got to school and did my normal school routine.

#Don't talk to anyone.

#Get ready for the upcoming mathematics competition.

#Coach my student.

#And, face basketball.

After lunch we had Mr Graham, the only available seat was with Hadizah, if eyes could kill this girl would have shot me gazillion times she hates my guts.

The bell for the next class rang and as I was about to leave the class, Miss Melissa brought in four new students.

I had to wait.

These are our new students, transferring from Heavenly High school to our school, please do introduce yourself," she said.

"Hi, I'm Julian Petros, it's nice meeting you, I hope you make the school comfortable for me and my sisters," he said.

"Hello, everyone I'm Julianna Petros and I like cheerleading and basketball and I'm also a tik tok sensation. I and my sister, don't forget to like and follow," she said with a laugh, no one can laugh as cutely as miss eyepatch. What is wrong with you Michael.

"Hello everyone, I am Julianne Petros and I know you might all be wondering why our name rhymes. It's because we are triplets. I love minding my own business but I enjoy music, especially Rock," she said.

"Hello everyone, I'm Adrian, Adrian Kosta and we are all Greek. I'm an introvert but I still love to make friends," he said.

I've known them, I can leave now.

HADEEZAH'S POV.

"Hey Nick," I could never forget that voice, the voice that helped me get on my feet.

"Hey Jay, it's so nice to go to the same school as you," I said.

"I could learn a lot from you," I continued.

"Me too, you are like this, I don't kown what to call it, an Angel," he said.

I could already feel this crimson on my cheek.

"Don't flatter me,"I said.

"Since school is over, do you mind showing me around a bit," he said.

I looked at the time it was, 3:30pm, I still had thirty minutes till practice.

"No problem, let's start,"I said.

We walked through the hallways and he liked it, the school and everything.

"I never thought I would ever see a school more majestic than Heavenly high," he said.

"Trust me this school is like heaven on earth," I said.

"I would really like to get to know you better," he said.

"No problem, but that as to be later," I said.

"I have practice," I said.

"Holy macaroni it's 4:20 and I'm still here, I'm really sorry Jay but I have to leave," I said, packing my bags and heading to the basketball court.

I was panting as I entered the court.

"I'm really sorry I'm late, I lost track of time,"I said.

"You lost track of time or you were busy laughing with the new boy, Julian or Jay as you like to call him," he said.

"Are you spying on me," I asked.

"Sorry princess, but I ask the questions," he said.

"I already said I'm sorry, what more do you want,"I asked in annoyance.

"I'm going to add the extra time,"he said.

"Michael, you cannot do that," I said.

"I prefer coach," he said sternly.

"OK, coach I'm sorry, I told my mum I'll be home every day by 6:00pm," I said.

"Your mum already got a notification that you might be late sometimes," he said.

"What is wrong with you, are you mad at me for some reason, this is the first time we have ever encountered this school," I said.

"Cut the chit chat and go get changed," he ordered.

"But -," I tried to say something but he cut me off.

"I'll end up reporting you to the coach myself,"he said.

"Whatever," I said and I walked out.

I got into the girl's locker room and immediately all eyes were on me, why not I am the only hijabi in this school.

I stood in front of my locker and I took off my hijab.

My long black hair that I had already twisted fell on my back.

"Wow," I could hear the students murmur.

"Who would have thought she could be this beautiful without her headscarf on," another said.

"I thought they wore it because they were ugly, underneath,"another said.

"You look pretty," a junior told me.

Thank you,"I said and I smiled at her.

These people can be silly sometimes. Did they think that I covered my hair because I was ugly no it's because I was commanded to do it by my lord.

I wore a normal P.E. attire. I wasn't given the appropriate basketball jersey, because I haven't made the team yet.

It consisted of long trousers, a long sleeved top and I tulked my hijab in.

I went back to meet SICO.

"Let's get you started, with some minor exercises," he said.

"OK," I said.

I started with some sit-ups and he sat right next to me.

Immediately I did one sit-up, our face was just inches away from each other, our breath mingling and he looked away.

Was he nervous, that was impossible, this guy has no emotions.

He then began to stammer with his words.

"Do you have a problem with being so close to me," he asked.

"Yes," I answered.

"Why," he enquired

"Because it is against my religion," I countered.

"Oh, stop all you people shouting this religion that, both Muslims, Christians, Jews and the likes of you are all fanatics and dumb," he said.

"What do you mean," I said.

"What I mean is, that all you guys believe in something you can't see," he said.

"How do you think you have a brain," I asked.

"Because I know it's there," he said.

"I can't see it, so I believe you've got no brain,"I said.

"What," he said.

"Water and garri,"I said.

"Hey," he said.

"You know what, practice ends now, I'm not comfortable being in the same environment with someone that does not respect my beliefs,"I said leaving.

I was anticipating, for him to stop me but he did not, I was happy is all I could think about

"Salaam alaekum (may peace and blessings be upon you) mommy,"I said, hugging her.

"Wa alaekum salaam (and may the peace and blessings be upon you to)," she replied.

"You are home early,"I said.

"Aren't you supposed to be happy," she said.

"I am happy, it's just I wasn't expecting you to be home this early,"I said.

"Well my boss is back from his business trip so the load on my shoulders have dropped," she said.

"Alhamdulillah, now you can be at peace," I said.

"Yes, Alhamdulillah", she said.

"I'm going upstairs to change, I'll be right back," I said.

"OK, dinner would have been ready," she said.

"OK," I shouted from upstairs.

I had dinner later and went to bed.
