Chapter Fifty

Part E

Saradha sighed as she eyed Sivaangi who twisted the green peas pod and opened it before putting the green peas beads into a bowl. She then eyed Ashwin who was busy with his laptop. 

Ashwin and Sivaangi came to Pollachi yesterday. Normally Saradha would be overjoyed whenever her son and daughter-in-law visits her but yesterday, she noticed something between the duo.

From the time Saradha was introduced to Sivaangi, she knows this one thing. Sivaangi can't stay away from Ashwin. She would stick to him most of the time give whoever else be there. She demands his attention the most. Ashwin does the same. They both would be in their own world when they were together.

From last day Saradha observed Sivaangi. She didn't pay much attention to Ashwin. Yes, they do talk. So, fight between the couple is out of the option. But she felt something off; something she couldn't put her finger on. 

Because if everything is normal then Sivaangi wouldn't have sat next to Saradha and work silently. Either she would have spoken cheerfully sitting next to her or she would have taken everything with her and sat next to Ashwin, talking to him animatedly about something. In short Sivaangi being silent concerned her.

"Sivaangi?" Saradha called softly.

"Sollunga athai" Sivaangi looked up at Saradha.

"Yenna achu da? Yean amaidhiya iruka? Odambuku yedhuvum pannudha? Ila avan yethuvum thitnan ah? Yenna achu?" Saradha asked as she caressed Sivaangi's head.

"Apdilam onum ila Athai. Nalla dhan iruken" Sivaangi replied giving a small smile to Saradha and added, "Morning vegame endhrichuten la. Adha lite ah tired ah iruku. Vera onum ila"

"Tired ah? Apo idha vai, nee poe paduthuko. Na kurma vachutu una elupi viduren" Saradha said.

It was nearly six and Sivaangi didn't want to sleep. So, she refused, "Parava ila athai. Irukatum. Ipo padutha aprm night thookam varadhu"

"Adhuvum seri dhan. Nee idha vai. Koncham fresh agitu va. Na unaku paal um snacks um eduthu vaikuren. Saptu nee um avanum apdiye oru walk poetu vaanga. Koncham fresh ah irukum"

Saradha didn't give space for Sivaangi to deny. She sent Sivaangi to their room and walked up to her son.

"Dei" Saradha placed her hand on Ashwin's shoulder who looked up as he removed his airpods.

"Maa?"

"Ashwin, fresh agitu va. Snacks eduthu vaikuren. Sivaangi ah apdiye veliya kuptu poetu va"

"Maa irutura neram aaga pogudhu. Inneram enga Maa kuptu poga?" Ashwin folded his laptop.

Their house is at the outer of Pollachi and in a remote area.

"Yengayachum kutitu po da. Yenna nu therla. Oru mathiri irundha. Keta thookam varudhu nu sonna. Asadhiya irukkum pola"

"Asadhiya iruku nu sonna la?" Ashwin frowned slightly.

"Ama da. Ahh aprm Ashwin, kekanum nu nenachen da. Ongaluku edhuvum sandai ah ila avala ethachum thittuniya?" Saradha asked. 

"Yean Maa? Yenna achu?" Ashwin's frown deepened.

"Ila da. Epovum nee irundha unna vittu nagarave maata. Aana nethu la irundhu pakuren. Unta pesalam seira yella sari dhan aana unaye suthi suthi varuvale, amaidhiya iruka, adhan ketaen" Saradha said and added, "Vithyasama irundhuchu"

"Maa, adhu..." Ashwin dragged for a moment but then looked at his mother, "Maa, okarunga"

"Deii, yenna da, sandai yedhuvum ah?" Saradha panicked a little.

"Aiyoo, adhellam ila Maa, okarunga"

"Seri, sollu" Saradha said sitting next to Ashwin.

"Ipo sandai nu la illa Maa aana rendu vaaram munna pasanga lam veetuku vandhrundhanunga. Romba naala ketanunga nu veetlaye avanungaluku pidicha non-veg la samache. Sivaangi veg dhan. Avaluku thaniya veg senju vachurundhen"

Ashwin quickly looked back to see if Sivaangi's coming before turning to his mother, 

"Ava kitchen la irundha, na ivanungaluku serve panitu adupu la chicken 65 irundhadha eduka kitchen kula pona Ava anga chicken saptutu irundha Maa!"

"Chicken ah?! Ava dha adhellam sapda maatale!" Saradha frowned.

"Enaku pathadhum onumey puriyala! Ava avaloda choice padi vegetarian. Pasanga lam taste pani paru nu kalaaipanga aana iva no, no, no, no nu poeduva aana avala saptadha pathadhum semma shock! Yean chicken sapdura nu dha ketaen. Thiruttu muli mulichutu enn na sapda kudatha nu naganda, yenna nu dha ketaen, kann lam kalangiruchu avaluku. Ipo yenna, na saptadhu dha prachana ya nu aludhute keta, apdiye vomit panita elathayum"

"Aiyo, yenna da idhu?!"

"Ama Maa, aprm ore aluga non veg saptutomey nu. Samadhanam panni paduka vache. Aduthu amaidhi agita"

Ashwin continued, 

"Naalu naal munna dhan, living room ah kuppaya potrundha. Clean pannu nu sonen, aprm panren, tired ah iruku nu sonna aana suma dha okandhu irundha. Thirumba rendu thadava sonnadhum yean yenna ipdi koduma paduthuringa apdi ipdi nu ena kathuna"

Ashwin sighed, 

"Kathitu room kula poeta. Enaku thuki vaari potruchu. Aprm rendu nimishathula vandha, ena katti pidichutu sorry sorry nu aludhuta. Marubadiyum samadhanam pannen. Olunga sapda matra aana nethu la nalla dha irundha. Yenna nu therlaye"

Saradha listened to Ashwin, her mind lost in deep thoughts.

"Seri, nee mela poe Sivaangi ready agitala nu paathu kuptu vaa, po" Saradha patted Ashwin's shoulder before calling out for her house maid.

Ashwin gave a nod to his mother before climbing up to his room. He frowned when he saw Sivaangi standing in front of the dressing table, lost in her thoughts.

"Eii azhagii" Ashwin back hugged Sivaangi as he nuzzled into her hair. 

"Ashwinn" Sivaangi placed her hands above Ashwin's as she stared into their reflection. 

"Yenna di yosichutu iruka?" Ashwin asked placing soft kisses on her neck and nape.

"Ashwinn, athai veliya poetu vara sonanga"

"Ama, enta yum dha sonanga" Ashwin stared into their reflection, looking at Sivaangi, "Ashadhiya iruku nu sonna nu sonanga. Yenna achu Sivaangi?"

Sivaangi kept staring at Ashwin through the reflection. Sensing her silence, he turned her around in his embrace, facing her face to face. Softly caressing her cheek, he asked softly, 

"Yenna di achu?"

"Namma kandipa veliya ponuma Ashwinn?" Sivaangi asked her eyes pooling with tears.

"Hey! Yenna di, yean kann kalangura? Veliya la onum poga vendam, yenna nu sollu" Ashwin said sitting on the bed and pulled Sivaangi to sit next to him. 

"Enaku oru mathiri tired ah iruku Ashwin" Sivaangi leaned against Ashwin as tears slipped out of her orbs, "Apo apo lite ah thalai suthudhu. Vaai la kasakudhu oru mathiri! Kaal valikudhu, odambe vithyasama iruku!"

Ashwin softly caressed Sivaangi's hair as he wrapped his another arm around her, "Onum ila di, onum ila. Namma veliya poga vendam. Onum ila"

When Sivaangi broke the hug and look up at Ashwin, he wiped her tears and pushed her hair out of her face before cupping her face between his palms.

"Unaku yenna panunalum enta sollu, seriya? Nalaiku hospital poetu varlam"

"Hospital la ven-"

"Adhellam nalaiku ponum. Ipo vaa, keela povom. Edhachum pidichadha sapdu. Night unaku pidicha Neikarapatti curd kurma senju tharen"

"Ashaangi seiya poringala?" Sivaangi clasped her palms together in excitement making Ashwin chuckle.

"Ama, ama. Vaa keela povom"

Ashwin brought Sivaangi downstairs. They paused on the last stairs when they saw an old lady sitting on the sofa and Saradha conversing with the old lady. On seeing them Saradha asked them to come and introduced them to the old lady, Rathnavalli. They joined their hands together at Rathnavalli who smiled at them widely and appreciated how they look good together.

"Sivaangi, inga vandhu okaru" Saradha patted the spot that's between her and Rathnavalli. Sivaangi nodded and sat beside them while Ashwin sat in the opposite sofa.

"Kai ah kudu tha" Rathnavalli said with a bright smile.

Giving a puzzled smile Sivaangi extended her hand towards Rathnavalli who grabbed her wrist and that's when it dawned Ashwin and Sivaangi about what's happening. Immediately their eyes found each other as they found their heartbeat rising just with the thought of baby.

"Ellam nalla vishayam dhan. Nee undagiruka tha" Rathnavalli announced with a big smile making Ashwin and Sivaangi's heart skip a beat, their eyes still locked in each other's.

A soft surprised smile bloomed on Ashwin's lips before a big smile broke out in his face while Sivaangi was engulfed in Saradha's embrace.

"Yenna Saradha, paati agita, vazhthukkal" Rathnavalli said standing up facing Saradha while Ashwin quickly walked to a shocked and surprised Sivaangi and engulfed her in his embrace.

Sivaangi hugged Ashwin back as she finally came to terms with what Rathnavalli said, her eyes filling with tears as she smiled, burying her face in Ashwin's chest.

"Na Appa aga poren! Na Appa aga poren!" Ashwin kept mumbling as he hugged Sivaangi, "Namma parents aga porom Sivaangi! Namma kolandha!"

They broke the hug and Sivaangi smiled at Ashwin with tear filled eyes as she said, 

"Na Amma aga poren!"

Ashwin didn't realize he was tearing up until Sivaangi wiped his tears as she smiled at him through her tears. 

"Pasangala, Rathnavalli amma sonna seriya dha irukum. Aanalum nalaiku doctor ta poe confirm panikonga" Saradha said while Ashwin and Sivaangi nodded, wide smile playing on their lips. She smiled and turned to maid, "Jeya, vaangitu vara sonnadha eduthutu vaa"

Saradha handed a pregnancy test kit to Sivaangi who quickly got it and went to test. Ashwin waited anxiously and when he saw the two lines, he hugged Sivaangi to himself before peppering kisses on all over her face making her giggle. Saradha shook her head and smacked her son's shoulder before hugging her daughter-in-law and blessing the couple.

The next day Ashwin and Sivaangi went to hospital and they confirmed the pregnancy there. Their happiness knew no bounds as the news of their baby made them fly in happiness. They shared the pregnancy news to their family like friends, Master and Shakeela. All were happy for the couple and congratulated them whole heartedly.

As they retired to sleep that night, Sivaangi pouted as she stared at Ashwin who has already pulled her T-shirt up and talking to their baby by placing his palm on her bare stomach.

"Ayoo podhum Ashwineyy, ipovey onga pulla ta ivlo pesuringa, koncham vara pora masathuku pesuradhuku micham vainga" Sivaangi said running her fingers through Ashwin's hair.

Ashwin placed a wet kiss on Sivaangi's stomach, just below her navel before looking at her with an excited smile.

"Yedho ullu kulla oru mathiri feeling di. Solla therla aana nethu irundhu feel panitu iruken. Oru mathiri bayama excited ah responsible ah perumai ah edho edho ella feeling um kalandhu ena apdiye excite aakudhu"

Ashwin spoke with a heart melting excited smile that Sivaangi mirrored his smile as his eyes met her, 

"Aana enaku oru vishayam urudhiya theriyum. Na enn pullai ku nalla appa va irupen, Sivaangi. Adhu dha enoda first promise enoda kolandhai ku" Ashwin smiled softly as he placed his palm on Sivaangi's bare stomach. He then looked up at Sivaangi and kissed her temple before saying, "Aana idha nee nyabagam vachuko. Yaara irundhalum, namma kolandhai ah irundhalum kuda, nee dhan enaku ellamey, en uyir. Unaku aduthu dha indha ulagame"

Sivaangi softly kissed Ashwin, lingering her lips over his a little longer before looking at him, "Enaku theriyum"

Cupping Ashwin's cheek, Sivaangi continued, "Enaku oru mathiri excited ah nervous ah bayama, oru mathiri ah dha iruku. Edho edho changes experience panra mathiri iruku enakullaye. Aana bayam vida excitement adhigama iruku, Ashwineyy"

Sivaangi gave a serene smile before saying, 

"I lost my parents early. Pala naal avanga irundhrundha nalla irukumey nu aludhuruke. Amma ah neraya edathula thediruke. Chithi Shalini ah pathukuradhu pakura apo lam sila neram porama kuda patruken. Appa Amma illa nu oru yekkam epovumey irundhruku aana enn pullai ku adhu yedhuvumey yepovumey irukadhu. Apdi pathupom namma"

Sivaangi softly pinched Ashwin's cheek, 

"Apdi dhana, Ashwineyy?"

Ashwin smiled, his hand grabbing Sivaangi's hand that's on his cheek before kissing her hand, 

"Apdi dhan Sivaangi"

Ashwin promised.
