Happy reading!!

A U T H O R

"Purvi, baccha woh log aa jayenge kuch hi der mein taiyar ho jana" Madhvi said while going out of Purvi's room.

[Purvi, child, they will come soon, get ready]

"What if I disappoint them too?" She asked herself while looking at the mirror.

Suddenly the voice echoed in her head

"Kha gayi churail mere saare parivaar ko! Jis din mere ghar mein paer rakhi hai tab se sab kuch ashubh ho raha hai!"

"Mar kyu nahi jaati hai yeh ! Dono ko kha gayi!"

Her eyes opened with a jolt, she was breathing heavily, sweat formed all over her face and neck "N-no" her voice broke as she covered her face with her trembling hands.

"I promised Papa to give myself a second chance, I deserve that... But do I really deserve that?" She thought before getting ready.

No matter how much her dad tells her to forget her past, she can't help herself.

How could she?

How can someone forget her child?

Her husband?

No, she can't, but what about her father who cannot watch his daughter just sulk away.

"Can I really be happy ever again? Can I ever lo-" she paused.

Love?

She thought about giving her life a second chance but love? Can she love again? What if it takes her forever to move on?

"Aarav, behave properly in front of them!"

"Mummy yaar 5 saal ka baccha thori hu main jo aap mujhe un logo ke samne behave karne ko bol rahi hain?!"

[Mummy, I am not a 5 year old child that you are asking me to behave in front of those people?!]

I was done with her warnings. This is the 20th time she told me this after getting in the car.

Yes I have counted!

We all are going now to meet my new, to be in-laws, even Aansh and Aarohi tagged along.

"But sometimes you behave like that na! I really want her to be my daughter-in-law. She's such a sweetheart. It's been so many years since I have met her" Wow, never heard my mother talk about someone so fondly! And wait, she knows this girl, arey what??!

"Mummy! Aap janti ho uss ladki ko jisse hum milne ja rahe hai?" I asked her "Yes! I have met her at some events many years ago but at that time she was about to get married and so were you"
Oh so that's what it is.

[Mummy! You know that girl we're going to meet?]

Mummy continued ..."Mujhe to kuch din pehle hi pata chala bechari ki pati aur bacche ke bare mein"

[I came to know about the poor girl's husband dead and child only a few days ago]

Oh.. Wait.. BACCHA???

"Baccha?" I asked "Haan batayi thi na main oh- tune to baat nhi suna pura" what is she talking about?

[Yes, I told you this oh- you didn't listen completely]

"She..." she stopped looking at me "but it shouldn't be a problem it wasn't her fault and you should have no PROBLEM" she said glaring at me.

"Yeah I won't have any problem.. But I need to know na when I enter their house and suddenly a kid clings to me calling 'dad dad' I would freak out na?" I said my point.

" I would be so happy if it was that.." My mother stopped again.

"Then?"
"Actually.. She had a miscarriage"

Silence

Suddenly the car ride became silent even Ansh and Aarohi became silent.

It must have been so difficult for her, for any woman it is difficult. She lost her child and even her husband... And she's ready for marrying again? What if her parents are forcing her?

The whole ride to their house became silent, none of us uttered a single word till we reached their house.

โœฏโœฏโœฏโœฏ

Finally we reached their house.

The Ahujas'

It was pretty big, almost the same as ours. The door opened revealing a lady.

"Hello ji, kaise hai aap log? Aaiye please iss taraf" a lady opened the door and Mrs Ahuja invited us in.

"Please sit Mr. And Mrs. Malhotra, beta baitho na aap log woh aa rahi rahi" Mr. Ahuja told us.

[please sit, they are coming]

"How is your health now? Mr. Ahuja?" Dad asked while taking a seat.

Mr. Ahuja had been hospitalised and was discharged a few days ago.

"It's all good and will be better if everything goes well" he said, giving a smile to Dad who reciprocated it.

I touched both of their feets and took their blessings before sitting on the sofa.

"Madhvi usse le aao" Uncle told aunty.

[Madhvi, bring her]

Aunty was going upstairs when I heard the sound of a door being closed and a girl wearing salwar was coming down. My eyes went up to her face which seemed familiar.

She

AUTHOR

Purvi came down when suddenly a voice said "PAINKILLER WAALI???" Purvi looked up at the direction of the voice only to find a familiar face "NEEND KI GOLI???" She said that out loud.

Both the families were looking at them, confused about why their son and daughter were calling each other weird names like that.

"Aarav beta what's wrong?! Why are you calling her painkiller waali?!!" Aarav's mother whispered in his ears while giving everyone a tight smile.

Aarav didn't pay attention to his mother's words as he kept glaring at Purvi as she did the same.

Purvi's parents were shocked looking at how their daughter's mood was completely different. They saw a glimpse of their old Purvi, the sassy, fierce Purvi which they hadn't seen in years. They were happy but also didn't like the growing tension between the two of them.

"Purvi, baccha kya bol rahe hain aap? Aap janti hai kya inko?" Her father asked.

[Purvi, child what are you saying? Do you know him?]

Flashback, that night....

Purvi purchased the painkillers for her mom and was on her way back to her car.

"Andhi ho kya!? Aree mere neend ki goli!"
"Andhe ho kya!? Aree mere painkillers!"

[Are you blind?! Oh no my sleeping pills!]
[Are you blind?! Oh no my painkillers]

"Rastein mein aankhein khol ke chalte hai!" Aarav exclaimed while picking up the bottle of sleeping pills.

[Walk with your eyes open on the way!]

"I can say the same thing to you too Mister !!" Purvi exclaimed after picking up the medicine packet.

"Thank god it didn't break '' he huffed and then glared at the woman who was already glaring at him "Listen you painkiller waali! You were rushing on the empty road for what reach God knows" He said, gesturing a shrug.

"What!? I was rushing?! I was simply coming out of the store. You were the one who was rushing inside the store!" She exclaimed angrily "And listen you badtameez Mr. Neend ki goli you should apologise to me instead of complaining!" She rolled her eyes.

[disrespectful]

"Badtameez? Ha?! Did you just call me badtameez?! Do you even know-" "Yeah I don't but do you know me?!" Purvi asked, still keeping the intense eye contact with him.

"You-" Aarav could not complete his sentence as his phone suddenly rang "Yes! Papa! I'm coming" he answered.

"I have to leave but remember I won't let you go away so easily!" Aarav said.

"Oh do you think that scared me? No! Now get lost" Purvi said as both of them went their separate ways.

Little did they know that destiny had some other plans for them.

Present

"Nothing Papa" giving a fake smile Purvi went towards the guests and took their blessings.

Purvi's parents quickly exchanged a small smile after witnessing the scene. It was the first time in these years that she had shown some active emotions.

"Meet Aarav, this is the guy we told you about" Purvi's father said
"Namaste" Purvi greeted Aarav who was shocked at the change of her behaviour.

"Bipolar or what" Aarav mumbled
"kuch kaha beta?" His father asked [You said something? ]
"No Papa!" He said.

"Beta, this is Purvi" his mother introduced "hello" he greeted with a fake smile.

The introduction session was going on, they were all talking amongst themselves while Aarav and Purvi kept giving each other glares

"Ruhi, Tereko nahi lagta ki inn dono ka kuch zyada hi intense stare chal raha hai?"Aansh asked Aarohi who was also looking at the both of them.

[Ruhi, Don't you think that these two are having a very intense stare?]

"Ha bhai lag raha hai chhattis ka aakda" Aarohi said as the duo kept enjoying the silent war going on between Purvi and Aarav.

[Umm idk what's chattis ka aakda is called in English so sorry I couldn't translate but it means two people don't really get along]

After sometime Aarav's mother spoke "Shouldn't both of them have some conversations of their own?" To which everyone agreed.

"Baccha, aao Aarav ko apne kamre mein le jaao" Purvi's mother said.

[Child, go take Aarav to your room]

"Okay"

Purvi got up and went upstairs while Aarav followed her like a lost puppy.

"I hope they both agree, I really hope they give themselves a chance" Purvi's father spoke as others agreed.

"They deserve to be happy," Aarav's father said. All of them watched the two go upstairs.
