5: Body On Me

They had just a couple of hours to rest at their respective hotel rooms before they needed to be at the venue for technical rehearsals. Nadine was at her room, unpacking her bags, when she heard a knock on her door. She looked through the peephole and saw James standing outside.

She opened the door. "Hey."

"Hi Nadz. Got some take out for you." He held out a paper bag to her and she glanced at the package.

Japanese, she thought, my favorite. Ano kaya pumasok sa kokote neto at binili ako ng pagkain?

Not that she was complaining. She was hungry and she loved Japanese. She had second thoughts about inviting him in, and then thought better of it. Ano ba, Nadine, si James lang yan, she scolded herself. He's still your friend, no matter what. Your partner in crime.

"Come in, kain tayo." She took the paper bag from him and put it on the small table inside her hotel room. His grin was infectious and she found herself grinning back.

She got the sushi first and James watched as she devoured a sushi in one bite. Adorable, he thought. She caught him staring at her and he laughed.

"What?" she asked, her mouth full.

"Nothing! I was just wondering why it took me so long to see how special you are."

Nadine's heart fluttered and she chewed her food slowly before she spoke. "James, please...."

"Nadine, I want to talk about --"

Nadine cut him off. "James, ano pa pag-uusapan? Di pa ko ready, it's as simple as that..."

"--the concert later," James finished with a laugh. "Feeling mo ha!"

"Yabang neto!"

James went on to talk about the concert; he had with him the program for the night listing the songs they'll be singing. Nadine found herself stealing glances at him while he spoke, a bit disappointed but more relieved that he wasn't really pushing their... whatever it is that they had. She had other things to think about. Like tonight's concert.

"I was thinking, we should do Body On Me again, like we did in Cebu. Add it near the end, right before we do On The Wings of Love."

Nadine hesitated. It was such a sexy song, and she wanted to avoid contact with James as much as possible. She didn't know if her current state of emotions could take it. Plus, they had no audio of the song, which meant they really had to sing it live with no back-up.

But James was looking at her with his puppy dog eyes, and before she knew it, she found herself agreeing.

"Great! I'll put it between Love Me Like You Do and On The Wings!" James said, writing on the program.

"Ha? May Love Me Like You Do din?" she squeaked.

"Yeah. We need to have more numbers because we have no other guests." He raised an eyebrow at her. "Is there a problem?" Inwardly, he was smiling at Nadine's obvious discomfort.

"No, no problem," Nadine said quickly. It's just James, Nadz. You've done this a million times.

"Or, we could do Body On Me as an encore! Then we could act extra sweet, towards the end. Fans would love that!" James put an arrow next to Body On Me and pointed it somewhere below On The Wings of Love and wrote ENCORE.

Oh no.

***

What are you waiting for.........

James opened up his arms and ran to Nadine, the same time she ran to him. They met halfway and Nadine jumped into his arms, hugging him as he carried her by the waist, twirling her around and around and around, inhaling her scent with his eyes closed.

Love me like you do, lo-lo-love me like you do..........

He put her down. She twirled away from him and he pulled her back to him, a mischievous smile in his eyes.

Love me like you do, lo-lo-love me like you do..........

He carried her in his arms, gazing deep into her eyes, oblivious to the screaming fans around them.

Touch me like you do, to-to-touch me like you do........

Something was different tonight, and he was sure Nadine felt it too.

What are you waiting for........

He put her down again, and it was the hardest thing he'd ever had to do in a production number in his life. It took all of his willpower not to run backstage with Nadine in his arms and then kiss that smile off her lips.

Love me like you do, lo-lo-love me like you do
Love me like you do, lo-lo-love me like you do
Touch me like you do, to-to-touch me like you do
What are you waiting for

James and Nadine faced each other and their hands met, they raised it at the same time and James intertwined his fingers with hers, then used his other hand to grab her by the waist, while Nadine put her other hand on his neck, leaving no space between them.

Their foreheads touched and they grinned at each other, their faces flushed, their breathing fast and heavy.

The last notes of the song ended, and James dipped Nadine as he always does after this particular number, laughing.

No matter how many times he does that, and even though I know it's coming, hindi ko alam, pero nagugulat pa rin ako, Nadine thought to herself. To James, she said "Ikaw talaga!" while laughing.

They barely had time to catch their breaths before the opening chords of On The Wings of Love began. James took Nadine's hand.

Just smile for me and let the day begin....

James was feeling nostalgic while singing the song, because he knew that OTWOL will be ending soon. He looked at Nadine, her hair framing her face, her eyes beautiful. He can't imagine why it took him so long to realize he was in love with her despite being with her everyday. All the wasted time.

He sang his heart out, his voice overpowering the back-up audio. Nadine sang with him and he could tell she was feeling his vibes too. He squeezed her hand, their bodies making that famous heart-shaped figure while they sang. It was a shape that they had practiced making when they were just starting as a tandem, but it was one that their bodies now made unconsciously.

Flying high up on the wings....

James put down his mic and used Nadine's to sing.

...of love.... ooh ooh, ooh ooh, hmmmmm.....

Fans were yelling, "Kiss! Kiss!"

James managed to pull his eyes from Nadine's to look back at the yelling audience. Don't tempt me guys, he thought.

They took their bows and started leaving the stage, their arms around each other.

"More! More!" The fans yelled.

They reached backstage on a high and James faced Nadine, putting his hands on her shoulders. "That was...." James wanted to say amazing, but Nadine cut him off. "I know," she said.

"More! More! More!" The shouts could be heard backstage.

"Let's go?" James took Nadine's hand.

They went out to the stage again, and the audience screamed. James put his hands up to calm the audience down, which they did, at least a little.

"How are you, Sacramento?" Nadine yelled on her mic. The fans yelled their approval. "Thank you so much for being here!"

"Thank you, everyone. This is the last one for the night!"

The chords to Body On Me started and Nadine sang.

Baby, let's cut down the lights
I just really wanna let this fire burn bright
I'm just telling you to have an open mind
Just imagine us

You're taking me there, you're taking me there
Our lips are barely touching
So do it again, so do it again
We could be on to something

Nadine turned to James to find him staring at her.

She's absolutely gorgeous, James thought. He took her hand as they sang, removing his gaze from hers and facing the audience.

Heyo, heyo, I just wanna feel your body on me
Heyo, heyo, if you want it then you got it, hold me
No more, no more wasting time
We can, we can go all night
Heyo, heyo, I just wanna feel your body on me
Ayayayayayayayayaya
Body on me
Ayayayayayayayayaya
Body on me

James turned to Nadine and started singing his part, making sure she knew he was singing the lyrics to her, and that each word he said was for her, his eyes looking deep into hers.

Put you up against the wall
And I'm a go to work 'til you get off
Baby, soon as you're done we'll go some more
Girl, just imagine us

You're taking me there, you're taking me there
Our lips are barely touching
So do it again, so do it again
We could be on to something

Nadine could feel her knees go weak. She knew what was behind those gazes of his. They pulled apart and faced different sides of the crowd while they sang the chorus. They went down the stairs and touched the hands that were reaching out to them from the fence that held the crowd.

Heyo, heyo, I just wanna feel your body on me
Heyo, heyo, if you want it then you got it, hold me
No more, no more wasting time
We can, we can go all night
Heyo, heyo, I just wanna feel your body on me
Ayayayayayayayayaya
Body on me
Ayayayayayayayayaya
Your body on me
Ayayayayayaya
Your body on me
Ayayayayayayayayaya

Nadine was still entertaining her side of the stage, when James took her hand and guided her up the stage again.

I'm not asking for too much, put your fingertips on me

He made her twirl and she ended up with her back against him, wrapped in one of his arms, while his other arm held the mic.

Don't wait 'til the sun's up, we can keep this thing between us only

James swayed Nadine from side to side.

Nobody has to know what's going down right now baby

Nadine's heart was beating so wildly, she barely managed to remember the lyrics.

James twirled Nadine again, so that she was facing him, then dropped his mic to the floor. Nadine had no choice but to hold the mic between them, and James leaned down to sing thru her mic, his arms snaking around Nadine's waist and holding her close to him, while Nadine's free arm went up around his neck.

Heyo, heyo, I just wanna feel your body on me
Heyo, heyo, if you want it then you got it, hold me
No more, no more wasting time
We can, we can go all night
Heyo, heyo, I just wanna feel your body on me

They moved their bodies along with the music, ever so lightly grinding against each other, but not obscenely. James stared at Nadine's lips, while Nadine looked at James' eyes.

Ayayayayayayayayaya
Body on me
Ayayayayayayayayaya
Your body on me
Ayayayayayayayayaya
Ayayayayayayayayaya
Body on me

The song ended, and they stood perfectly still, both not willing to let go.

You could cut the sexual tension with a knife.

James couldn't resist. He kissed her on the cheek, but accidentally-on-purpose caught the corner of her mouth.

The crowd went wild.

A/N: I have always, always wanted to put on paper what they're thinking during their concerts. Not that any of this is true, guys. Pero sa tindi kasi ng chemistry nila, mapapaisip ka talaga e.... Hahaha!

Sorry for the late update, I got distracted by my Christmas oneshots. Sila kasi e! Nagpapa-OJD e!
