Numb

I once had a family. There was four of us. We were the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There was Leo, he was the oldest and the leader of the group. There was me, Raphael, the muscle of the group. There was Donnie, the tech whiz of the group. And there was Mikey, the youngest of the group, and the goofball. We were taught by our father, Master Splinter. We had friends like April O'Neil and Casey Jones. We were a team. We were more than that. We were a family. But you never know what you have until you've lost it, and it's gone forever. That's what I learned when my family was taken away from me. I have a name for who took my family away from me. It was the Shredder. He and the Foot Clan were our greatest enemies for years. But Shredder decided to take our fight even further by attacking us when we were at our most vulnerable. It was on our birthday. Mikey died in an explosion. Casey got sliced in half. April was impaled with arrows, and she died in Donnie's arms. Shredder ended up slaughtering Donnie. He stabbed Splinter in the neck, and beat Leo to death. He beat me within an inch of my life, but he didn't kill me. He let me live, that way I could suffer more. The last thing he said before he left was, "Happy Birthday." Once he and his clan left, I saw that all my friends and family were dead. And in a way, a part of me died. On that day, I became The Nightwatcher!

I swore revenge on Shredder and The Foot Clan. I used a prototype armor that Donnie created, and that was how I decided to use the Nightwatcher suit as a way to hunt down Shredder. For a year, I killed anyone that was associated with the Foot Clan, leaving messages for Shredder. Lucky to say, I got his attention. I fought the Shredder, and beat him in more ways than one. I then stabbed him in the eye with my sai, crippling him from the neck down. Before I killed him, Shredder gurgled, "I'll see you in Hell..." I poured the most flammable alcohol I could find on his crippled bloody body, lit a match, and said, "Tell 'em Raphael sent ya." I then dropped the lighted match and it landed on Shredder, lighting him on fire. He was slowly burned alive. And that's how I eradicated the Foot Clan and avenged my friends and family. But after that, I wasn't happy. Yeah I got my revenge, and it felt good for a while. But it still didn't bring any of my brothers back. I became numb after that.

For six months, I pondered what my purpose in life was. I almost considered suicide as a means to be with my family in the afterlife. One night, as I was looking at New York, this blue portal came out of nowhere... Then these two horses flew out of the portal. One of them was a white winged unicorn with rainbow hair. The other was a dark looking unicorn that looked like something out of a horror film.

"You will die Celestia!" the zombie horse hissed, smiling evilly, "and soon I will corrupt Luna, and we will rule Equestria!" Celestia glared at her and bellowed, "I will never let you corrupt my sister, Chrysalis! Never!" Chrysalis laughed and said, "You will be dead when I do!" Then she blasted at Celestia with her horn, and Celestia screamed in pain. I couldn't just stand there and do nothing. I picked up a nearby glass bottle, and threw it at Chrysallis. "Hey, Ass-Butt!" I called out, my Nightwatcher helmet altering my voice, "get away from her, you bitch!"

Well I got Chrysalis' attention alright. She flew over to me, and glared at me. "Did you throw that bottle at me?" Chrysalis growled. "Sure did," I said, smirking underneath my helmet. "You will die for that, and for your derogatory insults, you insignificant maggot!" yelled Chrysallis. I got out my sais and said, "go ahead, make my day. And the name is Nightwatcher." Chrysalis hissed at me, readying her beam. I threw my sai at her, but her horn blasted at my weapon, turning it to dust. "Damn it," I growled, "I really liked those sais!" But then I got an idea. "Hey Chrysallis!" I taunted, "I betcha can't chase me!" Chrysalis glared at me and said, "You dare to underestimate me?!?!?!?!" I then began to run, Chrysalis chasing after me, I leapt from rooftop to rooftop, knowing she was behind me. Until I landed near the mirror store. Chrysalis then faced me, smiling evilly.

"You're cornered like a rat," she taunted, laughing. "As someone who was raised by a mutant rat, I resent that remark," I replied, ready for her attack. "Even in death you always have a smart remark to say; pity..." Chrysalis said heartlessly. She readied her horn, but right when her blasting started, at the last split-second I ducked. The beam then hit the glass, and it boomeranged back to her, striking Chrysalis in the heart. She then screamed in pain. "You tricked me!" Chrysalis screamed, as she slowly started to fade into dust, "IT BURNS!!!! CURSE YOU NIGHTWATCHER!!!!" And just like that, Chrysalis was dead.

Now Celestia, who had regained her strength, witnessed all of this. She then landed towards me. "Are you alright Celestia?" I asked, looking up at her. "Yes," she said, "now that you have saved my life. Thank you, Nightwatcher. If it weren't for you, Queen Chrysalis would have corrupted my sister Princess Luna, and taken over my kingdom. I am forever in your debt..." Her voice was like a loving mother who would protect her children. I shrugged and said, "Eh, don't sweat it, your majesty. Still, I didn't know I was in the presence of a queen." Celestia giggled and said, "Oh, I am not a queen. I am a princess."

"But if you rule a kingdom, wouldn't that make you a queen, logically speaking?" I asked. "Hmmm, I suppose you have a point," said Celestia, "but I am grateful. I would like to see your face. Please remove your helmet." I froze. "You sure you want me to?" I asked, "you might not like what you see..."

"It is not what is on the outside that matters," stated Celestia, "but what is in your heart that matters more. I will not judge you." Somehow, I trusted her, and I took off my helmet, and my bandana for good measure. I let Celestia look at my face. "I know what you're thinking," I said, and doing a redneck voice, I yelled, "Bah help, run! A big stupid ugly mutant freak! I'm so scared!" Celestia raised an eyebrow and asked, "Why do you belittle yourself? I don't see a freak. I see a brave warrior. I also sense that you're carrying such anger, sorrow, and grief... What is your name?"

"It's Raphael," I said, looking at her. "Things will look up for you one day Raphael," said Celestia. "Well if you ever need my help, just give me a holler," I said, smiling. "Of course," said Celestia as she smiled at me, and she opened a portal, going in. Just like that, Princess Celestia was gone. And for the first time, I felt some hope.
