"Silent room filled with sounds of different surgical tools and full of people focusing on saving one's life"

Instruments clattering

Sirens wailing

Monitor beeping.........

This was just a dream of a 14 years old Ashtherielle but now
seeing this in front of me makes my heart pound but at the same time it makes me flutter.

Wake up--Prepare for work-- Go to hospital-- Do work-- Go home after work-- Sleep
This cycle of mine keeps on going and going for many years but until now I still can't belive that I'm living the life that I dreamed since I was young.

"Suction"

As the operating surgeon spoke the word, I automatically did what she said

Right now, I'm doing an collaborative operation with a senior surgeon and I'm the assistant surgeon. Having this kind of surgery with someone who is looked up by everyone is such a dream come true for me.

"Doc. Diaz, will you do the honor?"
Doc. Reyes said

"Yes, I would love to"

"Please close and end the surgery"
She added

After she's done uttering the words, I started to close the patient

"Sternal wire please"
I said and the scrub nurse immediately gave me what I've asked and started the suture

This part might be the easiest but it must be done with care and focus

"Cut"

I've closed the incision and the other works, The nurses is now preparing the patient to leave the operating room

As I unscrub and leave the operating room, ang unang bumungad sa akin ay ang pamilya ng pasyente na namamaga ang mata kakaiyak habang nag hihintay matapos ang operasyon

"Doc k-kamusta aa-ang anak k-ko?"
Uutal-utal na tanong ng kaniyang ina

"The surgery was successfull and the patient will be sent to her room after a minute ma'am"
I said while removing my mask

I was shocked as the mother hugged me while crying and saying thank you

This is the beauty of my work, seeing your patient on a good situation and hearing all the gratitude makes all the tiredness of a 6 hours long work go away

I just tapped the back of the mother and saying it'll be ok

"Doc maraming salamat ho talaga doc, s-salamat p-po talaga"
Kumalas na siya sa pagkakayakap sa akin ngunit patuloy parin itong umimiyak

"Thank you also for believing in us ma'am and don't thank me a lot I'm just an assistant surgeon. It's Doc. Reyes who did the job"

"But I can't do the job alone without the help of the team Doc. Diaz"

"Oh, doc andyan ka po pala"
Nandyan pala si doc, kekeheye nemen (◐∇◐*)

"You did a great job ash, keep going"

Aww, being complimented by a senior makes me red like a tomato

"Thank you Doc and working with you is a honor. I've learned a lot from you"
I smiled to her and she also smiled back

"Doc. Reyes sobrang salamat po, salamat po sa inyong lahat"

Napabaling ang tingin namin sa ina ng pasyente na patuloy parin sa pag iyak

"Your daughter will be ok ma'am so don't worry na po"
Doc. Reyes said

After a moment, lumabas na ang pasyente and we sent her off to her room. Doc Reyes talked with the family about the medications and everything related to the situation of the patient

As I walked out to the room of the patient, I stretched a little while removing my head cap
I checked the time and it's already 12:02pm

"Time really fly so fast, grabe lunch time na pala"

"hey hey heyyy ash"

Kahit hindi ko nakita kung sino ang tumawag sa akin but I know who it is

It's Hade. My bestfriend

"Oh Hade"

"Katatapos mo lang ng surgery?"

"uh yes, why?"

"So how does it feel to have a combine operation with Doc. Reyes?"
Tanong nito na may pa taas² pa ng dalawang kilay

"It's like a roller coaster. It's feels good but your shoulders also feel heavy"

"Congrats Ash! I'm proud of you"
He smilingly said while patting my head

"Tss. Nambola kapa"
Saad ko habang kinukuha ang kamay niya sa ulo ko

"Well, as you see it's already lunch time and I know na pagod ka sa work so.."

"soo.. Libre mo ako?"
I teasingly smile to him

"What? No, dapat nga ikaw 'tong manglibre eh"

"Aba't ako pa, eh ikaw 'tong nang-aaya"

" Having a combine operation with Doc. Reyes is a huge win, dapat natin to i-celebrate"

"he he he, ewan ko sayo"
Pa irap kong saad

"Parang walang restau ah, damot nito"

"Aba't ako pa madamot ngayon ah, pasapak nga, isa lang,halika, pasapak"
Sabi ko habang hinahanaan siyang batukan. Sarap pektusan eh

"Woah, woah, woah"
Todo atras naman ito at may pa takip² pa ng mukha

"Easy men, chillax, hindi ba nag text sayo si Kiana? Mag lunch daw tayong tatlo sa restaurant ni mama mo at libre niya"
Naka ngiti nitong sabi

Ay, waw lapad ng ngiti ah kita pati gums

Btw, Kiana is one of our closest friend

"Oh? May ano? Hindi pa ako nakapag check ng phone kakatapos ko lang ihatid ang patient sa room niya"

"Di ko alam bigla² lang nag aaya eh, sige na mag ayos kana at sabay tayo papunta doon, nandon na siguro siya since it's 12:15 na"

"Sige, hintayin mo nalang ako sa parking area mabilis lang naman akong mag ayos"

"Ok, I'll wait for you there"
Hade said before we parted ways

I'm heading now at the doctor's room/staff room to change my scrubs and get my stuffs ready

After a few moments, I'm now done and I was walking on the hallway when my phone suddenly vibrates. Hindi ko na inatubili pang tingnan kung sino ang tumatawag

"Hel--"
Hindi pa natapos ang sasabihin ko ng putulin agad ito ni Hade

[Ganyan ang mabilis lang mag aayos]
He sarcastically said

[ Ilang minuto na akong naghihintay dito, nasan kana? It's 12:30 ash]
Dagdag pa niya

What? 12:30 na? I gazed on my watch and 12:30 na nga kaya nagmadali akong lumakad

"Wait, palabas na ako, malapit na talaga-- ouch"
Daing ko ng ma-untog ako sa isang lalaki

He's so tall and hindi ko maaninagan ang mukha niya dahil he's wearing a cap

"I'm so sorry"
I said

"Your phone"
Sabay lahad sa akin ng phone ko na nahulog nang mabangga ko siya

"Oh, thank you"
Kinuha ko naman ang phone ko at nag lakad na ulit

I checked my phone if it cracked but luckily, wala naman

[ Hey ash ano yun? Na tapilok ka ba]

"Ah? Hindi ah, I bumped into someone"

[Yan kase, dahan² lang kase]

Eh? Kanina sabi bilisan? At ngayong na untog ako eh sasabihin na mag dahan²

"Pinapadali mo ako eh at sabi mo bilisan? At ngayon papadahanin mo ako? Loko mo"(¬_¬)

[What I'm saying is, you should walk fast but surely]

"Blah blah blah, edi ma una ka. I can drive on my own"

[Tss. Bilisan mo nalang kaya dahil gutom na ako. I'll hang up now]

*tot~tot~tot*

After he hang up, lakad takbo na ang ginawa ko. Paano ba naman kase, sobrang laki nitong hospital. Sa pagkahaba ba naman ng hallway at pagkalaki ng parking lot. -_-#

Minutes passed and I arrived at the parking area and I can clearly see Hade standing in from of his car

"Hey Hade"
Pasigaw kong tawag sa kanya

"Finally you have arrived, I thought it would take you years"

"Whatever, pwede ka namang ma una"

"Kung gugustuhin ko mauuna na talaga ako, eh nakita ko yunh sasakyan mo at flat yung gulong nun--"

"Whaat!?"
He said what? Na flat?
Hindi ko na sya pinatapos and automatically run towards my car na di naman kalayuan sa kotse ni Hade

I checked the four wheels of my car and ok naman, hindi naman flat. Ako ba'y pinagtri-tripan ng lalaking to?

"Pinaayos ko na yan"

"Ay tokwa!"
Gulat na saad ko dahil bigla² nalang sumusulpot utong lalaking to

"Ba't di mo sinabi kanina nung tumawag ka?"

"Sinabi ko naman ah"

"Huh? Hindi kaya"

"I clearly said it, sinabi ko pa nga na pina-ayos ko na"

"Maybe I didn't hear it, siguro you were talking while my phone was on the floor nahulog kase. Btw, thank you"

"It's ok, let's go na kanina pa nag aantay doon si Kiana"

I just nodded and pumasok na sa kotse and I drive papuntang restau ni mom at si Hade naman ay nakasunod lang sa akin
