Chapter 3: Doing Something I Probably Shouldn't

Harry: "I'll be back in two days. I'll miss you," Anna said in between kisses.

"Love you," I said.

"Love you," she said. I watched as she walked into the terminal, not looking back. I headee back to the car, turning on the radio to keep me company.

"Is you're girlfriend away?" the ad asked.

"Yes," I chuckled back.

"Are your new buddies busy?" the ad asked.

"Um, yeah," I said. Zayn and Jess were busy with a two year old Niki, Louis and Sarah were busy with their first child, Leo. Hanna and Liam were expecting their first any day now, and Niall and Maggie were knee deep in plans for their wedding. So yeah, all my buddies were busy.

"Mayb its time you spent sometime with your old friends!" the ad said. It went on to talk about some website to find your high school class, but it gave me an idea. I puled out my cell phone and hit the contact for Kat. She answered after the first ring.

"Hello?" she answerd, her usual, upbeat self.

"Kat?" I asked, "Um, its Harry."

"Hey," she said, her voice seemed excited, "What's up?"

"Um, not much," I said, deciding not to say anything about Anna, "Just curious if you wanted to hang out tonight."

"Sure," Kat said, her voice not trying too hard to hide her surprise.

"Should we say meet at six?" I asked.

"Works for me," Kat said. The we said goodbye and hung up.

Okay so let me just say this whole thing felt wrong. First I was getting ready to meet a girl who wasn't my girlfriend. Anna got jealois when I was backstage with fans but yet I would go hang out with a girl planning for a few hours? The next thing was that I hadn't told any of the guys. I mean I usually was always talking about going to meet a girl no matter who it was. But I did it anyway.

I met Kat at a park. I noticed people pointing and staring, although I just ignored them, walking straight toward the picnic tables. We had agreed on eating together to catch up. Kathryn showed up a few minutes later. "Okay, I was going to make something. But, I failed miserably and so here is McDonalds. Hope you like double cheeseburgers," she said, setting a paper bag on the table. I had brought drinks of cans of Coke and potato chips. "So what's been up with you?" Kat asked, biting into a cheeseburger.

"Well, I mean my mom got remarried. Gemma graduated and I joined XFactor and One Direction. Now here we are today," I said.

"You forgot the part about how you ended up with a supermodel girlfriend," Kathryn said, popping a floppy fry into her mouth.

"You knew about that?" I asked, blushing.

"No, I live under a rock," Kathryn said, rolling her eyes.

"Well, um we met at a charity event. I pretty much fell for her when I put my eyes on her and had to ask her out," I said.

"And she just said yes?" Kat asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Pretty much. I mean at first she was like 'I barely know you' but eventually I sweet talked her into it," I said, shrugging.

"Uh huh," Kat said, shrugging.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked.

"Um, uh huh," she said, laughing.

"Kathryn, I know you. Uh huh has never been just uh huh," I said.

"In this case it is," Kathryn said.

"Kathryn," I said.

"I just think she's going to break your heart, that's all," Kathryn said.

"Why would you think that?" I asked, growing defensive.

"Because you really like her. I mean she might be the one, but I mean I think if she's not it'll break your heart," Kathryn said. From anyone else I wouold have taken offense. But I didn't, because it was Kathryn. She looked up at the sky, which was clouded over. A drop of rain fell on her face. "What do you say we ditch the rain and head to my place?"

"I don't know," I said.

"You used to come to my place all the time," Kat pointed out. Yeah Harry. She's just a friend. Why would it make a difference to Anna? I nodded and we headed to my car (Kathryn, being the college student she was, didn't have a car).

Kathryn lived in an apartment building just off the campus. Her apartment was on the thrid floor, and the place didn't exactly scream tidy (the building I mean). She opened her apartment door and held the door for me. When I walked in, I noticed her cloth couch, a coffee table, her TV by the window, and a small kitchen. I also noticed a musty smell. I didn't say anything. I also noticed an animal cage next to her couch. "What animal do you have?" I asked, poining to the wire cage.

"A ferret," Kathryn said. She opened the door of the cage, "Baby. Come here."

"You have its cage as a end table," I said, looking around.

"Nobody puts Baby in a corner," Kathryn said, her voice stern as she pulled out a black and white ferret. I laughed at her Dirty Dancing refrense.

"It's cute," I said.

"She. Not it. Thanks. Baby meet Harry. Harry meet Baby," Kathryn said. The ferret seemed to just sniff the air, its neck reminding me of a snake. "Go ahead and ask her for a kiss. She'll kiss you," Kathryn said, handing Baby to me.

"That makes one girl," I said, laughing. Kathryn laughed too.

"Don't even pretend millions upon millions of girls wouldn't kiss you if you asked," Kathryn said, putting Baby on the ground to run around.

"Yeah your right. I could get alot of girls to kiss me," I said.

"Ooh, look who's getting a big head," Kathryn said. We laughed.

I left a few hours later, and we talked for hours. It was so natural with Kathryn. I wished it could be that way with everyone. Although I still felt guilty for going over to Kathryn's. Oh well.
