Chapter 11

I still had to ring my parents, which went smoother than I thought, maybe because Tony convinced them that it looked worse than it was, or the fact he told them that I would be staying at the tower for the next few weeks.

But it didn’t stop them asking me every question under the sun until they were satisfied they had all the answers.

The others advised against telling my parents about the Hydra men, or about the weird gene thing in general, so I left it.

They couldn’t really do anything about it anyways and I was fine with not getting them stressed about something like that.

My mum reminded me to stay hydrated and my dad told me if I wanted to come home I could, I thanked them both before hanging up with an ‘I love you’.

“They took that well” Nat commented as I set my new phone down, leaning back into the sofa, staring up at the living room ceiling.

“Yeah, they’re not usually too fussed unless they know I’m super worried about something.”

“you’re not ‘super worried’?”

“I mean not really; those lads aren’t anywhere where they can harm anyone, and no one is seriously hurt, plus I’m surrounded by you lot, which is reassuring, cause you guys know what you’re doing more than I do.” I explained to Bucky with a shrug, “I’m just thanking my lucky stars that I ended up here”

“That was just heart-warming,” Sam interrupted, and I rose an eyebrow “but I’ve been waiting to order food for an hour, so what does everyone want?”

“Sam” multiple voices hissed, and I couldn’t help but laugh, typical.

We ate and hung out for a bit before people began to disappear to different floors and rooms, settling into their routines whilst I helped Steve put the dishes in the dishwasher, Peter collecting as many glasses as he could carry, and I couldn’t help but pause as I saw him balance one on his head.

“You can do two trips, you know?” he grinned over at me, keeping his head perfectly still as he shuffled our way.

“Now what would be the fun in that?” he flicked his head forward and caught the glass with his now free hand as I handed the rest to Steve.

“Have you two seen that space movie yet?”

“you’re gonna have to be a bit more specific, love” Steve thought for a second.

“The one with the alien?”

“Star Wars?” Peter suggested and I shot him a look which he smirked at.

We tried to guess what movie Steve was on about for a few minutes, not getting any closer with his vague description.

“Interstellar?” he clicked his fingers and pointed at Peter with a look of triumph.

“that’s it!”

“I haven’t seen it, but I’ve heard it’s really good” I made a sound of agreement, drying my hands with a tea towel as I listened to them talk about different space movies, Peter trying to convince Steve to watch Star Wars at some point before we split paths.

“I am creation, haunted and holy, made in glory” I sang softly whilst scrunching my curls into a towel, stepping out of the steamy bathroom to see Peter lying on my bed.

“What song are you singing?” he asked as he typed away on his phone.

“Um I think it’s called creature by half alive, it’s been all over my Tik Tok feed recently” I chucked the towel into the laundry bin “why, like it?”

“The way you sing it” I smiled, ducking my head as I sat at his feet, tucking some damp hair behind my ear.

“thanks” I brushed my hand over his bare leg, like myself, he didn’t like to sleep in long pjs, so both of us had shorts on.

I felt the tiny hairs stand on edge as I trailed my fingertips over them, it was weird yet oddly satisfying.

“Hey that’s beginning to tickle,” he captured my hand in his softly as he sat up, studying my face as I giggled at him. “you’re a menace you know”

“You love it” I argued, my eyes catching sight of something in his hair

“hold on, let me just” I leant forward, gently teasing the small white fluff out and brushing it away. “perfect”

I noticed how close we were and noticed the way Peter’s eyes flickered between my gaze and my lips, wetting his own subconsciously.

“Alex” he muttered; his pupils dilated as he stared back at me with a silent question.

I leant forward, eyes closing as I connected our lips, feeling my whole-body tingle and I swear I almost felt weightless as he kissed me back.

My hand reached up to caress his face, brushing away his hair as I felt him move closer, his hands supporting my back and neck. We pulled back slowly, heads resting against each other as our noses brushed.

I leant back in, but he moved back slightly, grinning at me before we rejoint, teeth clashing as we laughed and I couldn’t help but drift my hand down to his bicep, feeling the toned muscle shift under my fingertips.

After a few seconds, I turned away quickly, spluttering slightly as I breathed deeply, my face instantly going red as Peter cackled at my coughing figure.

“Did you forget to breath?” he asked between laughter, and I flipped him off as I stood up.

“Piss off” I couldn’t help the few hiccup chuckles that escaped me as the oxygen found its way back around my body.

The room fell silent, and we met eyes,
I thinned my lips in an effort not to smile but we soon burst out laughing, Peter clutching his stomach as his eyes watered as I hiccup-laughed, my chest beginning to hurt.

“Stop, stop, I can’t” I pleaded, falling onto the bed as a knock sounded at the door before it peeled open, revealing Tony.

“What are you two doing?” Peter tried to explain but couldn’t get the words out between the giggling. Tony just shook his head at us in amusement, leaning against the door frame.

“Do I even want to know?” I covered my face with my hands, shaking my head as I tried to stop hiccupping. “kids” he muttered with an eye roll and smile.

“don’t stay up too late, both of you need some sleep, any problems let me know.”

“night” we called as the door closed, taking his words into consideration before Peter climbed into my bed, pulling back the covers and patting the space next to him.

“This won’t end well” I let him know as I joined him, curling up next to him “I wriggle in my sleep”

“I’ll just have to bear hug you then, prepare to be squished” he wrapped his arms around me, and I lay against his chest, stretching my legs out before crossing one of my legs between his.

“This okay?”

“couldn’t be better” he sighed in content, his fingers getting tangled in my hair as I closed my eyes, feeling my eyelashes flutter against the crook of his neck.

“You smell nice” I hummed, inhaling the nice cologne he had on, it reminded me of the woods and rain, so I assumed it was sandalwood or something similar. “Like the forest”

“Yeah? Like the lake in flushing meadow?”

“More like the one by my house back home, we used to go out with the neighbours’ kids and play nurf wars when the weather calmed down” we were talking quietly now, barely audible in the dimly lit room, soft orange light caressing the curves of Peter’s skin.

“It must’ve been nice, living by parks and fields.”

“It was, I’ll take you around there someday, maybe closer to Christmas”

“I’d like that” he said quietly, relaxing as my fingers traced shapes on his chest absentmindedly. “Meet your family, see where you grew up. I bet it’s so much different.”

“I think you’ll like it, its pretty quiet, but you can’t really swing around places.”

He let out a breathless chuckle, fingers untangling another knot.

“Sounds like fun, living the normal life”

“Mm, just wait til my dad meets you, the door will have to be open at all times, and you’ll probably have to sleep downstairs.” I grinned to myself, loving the thought of him meeting everyone already, “Flo’s going to love seeing you”

“you’re friend who threw up?”

“Yeah, she’s always saying we would make a good couple, plus she wants to give you the proper British experience”

“British experience?”

“Pub crawl, Wetherspoons, maybe a kebab”

“I’ve had a kebab before” I chuckled, looking up at him.

“Not like bebas, bebas is the best”

“I’ll take your word for it, space girl”

“Space girl?”

I knew what he was going to say as soon as the words left my mouth, regret settling in me as his smile widened.

“Cause you’re out of this world” I groaned, hitting my head against his chest. “You know you love it”

“Shove it, Parker” he was almost unnaturally warm, like a human radiator and I found myself kicking the sheets in his direction, exposing my legs whilst keeping half of the blanket over the rest of me.

“Too hot?”

“Just a little” he began to unravel his arms, but I just moved closer, burying my head into him. “Please don’t, this is really comfy” I lifted my head

“unless you’re uncomfortable, then-“

“Relax angel,” he pushed my head back down, eyes fluttering closed as his hand rested on the side of my face, smushing my cheek and I couldn’t help but smile, following suit and trying to get some sleep.
