Chapter 10: The Last Talk

7 years earlier .... Vulcan

Tarek laid in his sleeping corridor upon his bed. His eyes wide open focused upon nothing as he stared at celling listening to the sound of the heavy wind beating against the side of his house.

Two hours ago he had laid down with the intent to sleep, but after he closed his eyes and laid there for half an hour. Sleeping not seeming be found. He found himself here.

Lying on the top of his bed just listening to the sounds of the wind. As illogical as it was to be doing this. To be listening to the wind when one should have been sleeping. He enjoyed it. He tried to imagine what it was like outside as the wind blew heavily.

He imagined sand being pushed across the land. Looking like waves in a sea as the wind blew. Tarek continued to try and imagine what was happening out there as he stared aimlessly up at the celling.

"Tarek" a small quiet voice whispered from his brother's bed slightly taking Tarek by surprise.

"How were you able to discern that I was awake?" He asked whispering back intrigued as to why his younger brother wanted to talk to him at this late hour.

"Considering you are not in your regular sleeping position it seemed possible you were awake." He brother answered from where he laid on his bed across the room.

"What is the reason you wanted to speak with me?" Tarek asked. There was silance for a moment while his brother thought about what he was going to say.

"I am feeling emotions of...." his younger brother began to slowly explaiened as he thought about what to say. "Emotions of anxiety about tomorrow."

Tonarrow was the day that his brother was to graduate from the primary level of education and move onto the secondary level.

"For what is the reason of your anxiety?" Tarek asked.

"It is...." his younger began but trailed off as he lost himself in his thought contemplating what to say "I do not know for what I should expect about proceeding onto the secondary level of learning."

"So you are anixious for you are uncertain?" Tarek asked to confirm.

"Precisely."

(7 years later -- Nova M-2)

Just like that night seven years ago it was storming again this night. The wind howling while Tarek laid in his bed thinking.

Those were the last moments he could recall spending with his brother. He couldn't remember the rest of the conversation after that.

All he knew was that the next day he had to get up early help his father with a task that he could not recall now. And with that he didn't get a chance to even say good bye to his younger sibling.

Vulcan had been destroyed that day. Sucked into oblivion with his brother and the rest of his family on it.

Sometimes Tarek would wonder what would of became of his brother if he had had a chance to complete his childhood. To grow into a adult like Tarek had. But such thoughts were completely illogical. His brother had suffered along with the fate of Vulcan. And with that it was completely useless to wonder about something that would never happen.
